Driving through last night on the way the North Gare with Ratboy and the wife commented casually how all the grass had been cut and it looked tidy…until you drive past the bus station where it’s a huge weed bed. It was busy last night so god knows what visitors think of the area looking like a third world tribute act, especially in front of an Art Deco structure like the bus station…tell me it’s not some pathetic woke experience authorised by the Councils ‘Director of Woke Nonsense’. Cut the f@£#%*g grass.

I resent that as @hartlepool.gov.uk's Director of Woke Nonsense is a personal friend of mine.

was it a weed bed though or the wild flowers that were planted a few years ago across the town dying off. they look good when fully out but not so good when they die off.

I think it was going to be wild flowers but the weeds may have got a heads start.
The soil there is poor as during winter the sand is blown onto it.
Yes it does look strange.

I was at the Hartlepool waterfront festival yesterday and i have to say i really enjoyed it. There was some good acts/music. Of note was a Ukrainian classic singer who was excellent and who caused a tear or two.
It was helped by the absence of a beer tent which kept the undesirables away (i have never said that the absence of beer has helped ever before btw.)
Next year i am going for both days as it looks like i missed some good stuff. No admission fee just an envelope to make a donation.
We done to all involved.

Some weird little orange flowers pop up every year, wimps of the flower world, they are immediately mugged by the grass and weeds and left to cower….. some woke fantasist is obviously turned on by this, but do it in your garden next time and give us some boring grass for people to sit on.
I thank you in anticipation but you’ll turn a deaf ear and rage over my scathing comments.

It could be some hallucinogenic plant that a local drugs baron has sown?

think a lot of events should look at not having a beer tent when they hold there,s. even when i used to drink i never bothered with these anyway and could never see a plus point about them. you only need a handful of piss heads to spoil it for hundreds.

I think beer tent culture is what puts a lot of people off attending these venues and events.

or just the beer culture itself. always annoys me when going to football ground information site,s where it lists pubs near the ground but never cheap places to eat which is far more important to me when i go somewhere new. refuse to eat inside grounds unless i,m near to starvation.

You mean people getting pissed up under a bit of cover outdoors? Not sure it counts as a separate culture

If the event is any good the beer tents are going to be busy, but no better or worse than town centre pubs at the weekend. Bring your own food and drink and give them a swerve. Not something you can do at most sporting events but you can at a free festival like Hartlepool Waterfront.

Er, according to Mr Bluestreak there was no beer tents at the Waterfront Festival, and said it was better for their absence.
