Been told today that Mick has passed away after a short illness.
Not many Poolies will be aware of Mick. He lived in Buntingford Hertfordshire, but had been a season ticket holder for many years. He came to Pools after getting pissed off with the Premiership ( particularly Man Utd ) & literally picked Pools out of a hat & continued to follow them for about the last 20 years. Although he didn't get up to the Vic very often, he followed them at the likes of Leyton Orient & Stevenage ( so defeats on a regular basis ! ). He made the trip North for the Stevenage game this season, where I was fortunate to meet up with him for a beer in the Anchor after the match.
As a supporter of 50+ years myself who gave up my season ticket on our plunge to the National League, I could only admire the sheer determination of a man who had no connection whatsoever with the club or the town.
Rest in peace Mick.

sad news for any poolie that dies, especially one that must have found it difficult supporting his club living miles away with people he knew saying why them etc.

RIP Mick

This brought back memories as the first house I bought was in Buntingford where there was a large Sainsbury's depot.

I had also been to school in Leyton where in the early 60's Phil Woosnam who started the American revolution into footie was my PE teacher, whilst playing for Leyton Orient.

Finally I have a connection with Stevenage where the wife's parents funerals took place.

It's a very small world.

RIP Mr. Franklin sympathy to family and friends. Liked the wry sense of humour Derwent sounds like a celestial supporters group going on.
