They've not given us the best Christmas schedule. Rochdale away on Boxing Day? Harrogate at home on New Year's Day is more like it.

Nice that Poolies are invited to Stockport's coronation as League 2 Champions on 6th May bbolt

I dearly wish for the scenario that we turn up at Stockport in our thousands, having just won the league and County players have to give our team a guard of honour as the lads walk out onto the pitch and then DC present us with the trophy ( if he's still there).
That would be something special.
A grinning Raj having a selfie with a sourpuss Challinor would be a nice extra.

Its great to see names of proper football clubs to be played in this league.
Did NL really happen or was it a bad dream?

I know two brothers, both born in Liverpool, both football daft but one supports Liverpool and the other Everton. They never allowed any sort of rift to occur, respected each other's choice and protected the bond between them. I would imagine that there has been times when both of them were seething underneath but always they kept the lid on. The Liverpool fan died in tragic circumstances and his brother never lets a day go past without grieving for him.
So sad.
There is always the possibility that rifts can occur and it would be sad if you were involved in one Mr Accy. Both my wife and daughter support Pools and I am grateful for that.

And the fancy dress for the day at Stockport will be…… other sites have suggested, a rat, a snake and Judas Iscariot…… now is it me or is a trend developing here?
Best play it safe and dig out the Smurf outfits. :character-smurfguy:

I can see the scenario now .... Pools needing 3 points off them for a spot in the playoffs - we are all dressed as snakes hissing and booing like mad. Our new 20 goal a season striker seals it in 90 mins - DC has long gone and is taking Wrexham up by a clear 10 points! :violin:

They are favourites for the league for a reason. I don't think they will win the league but be very surprised if they finish outside top 6.

if pools finished above them that would guarentee us promotion if not being champions.

it will not happen fortunetly apart from on matchdays. the day when common sense and reality in life goes out of the window for a couple of hours. think us both being the only fans in our town who support our clubs make us both more likely to stick up for them than if we were among others. actually i heard there was a part time poolie living near me but i have never met him.

based on current standings and incomings from these teams i cant see past these 2 winning it outright as 1st and 2nd place ...

Bradford and Northampton - both recruited very well and Northampton where excellent last season so no doubt kick on and get the auto spot

They were a very strong NL side who absolutely pissed it since Challinor come in and will only get stronger. Last season Sutton done really well up until the latter end of the season and looked like getting a playoff spot alonside JPT final. I think if we kept the same squad from the NL we would have also been up there.

its back to its best thats for sure - Stockport and Grimsby both good sides and both back to where they should be - pains me to say it but its true. Bradford and Donny both recruiting well - Can see a team like Gillingham being strong too

gillingham for me are always one of the favourites for league 2 promotion but equally one for relegation from league 1. bit of a poor mans version of rotherham.

I agree the same squad would probably got us to the play offs but two of them weren't our players, Johnson wanted to go to Port Vale and Cass was told to go there. Oates broke his neck to leave as soon as an offer came to enable him to be nearer home. So that is five of our best performers out of it.
Shit happens and to a club like Pools it always will and every time we have to grin and bear it and yes, we have to move on and I know you think that as well.
It's called reality. When you collect over 150 million quid from the lottery you will maybe be able to alter the situation, you or another passionate Poolie. Other than an equivalent sugar daddy, we have to take what we are and who we are until any of those two scenarios present themselves.

Don't need 150m, just a reasonable budget and a desire/organisation to keep hold of better players so fees can be damanded. Having said that, we might have been hamstrung last summer by players securing deals while our future was still in the balance. However, I think Mols could have been kept.

...worth remembering that that squad got us out of the NL literally by the width of a goal post..combined with a fair degree of luck... and a manager who knew what he was doing..the idea that if kept together they would have somehow gone on to challenge for promotion from league 2 the following season is imo a bit fanciful to say the least like...particularly without that manager..

What makes you think Mols wanted to be kept. Have you evidence or is that another of your fancies. How long is his contract at Donny, what is his contract worth, did we try to match it or even beat it, and by how much. Unless you can answer those ponderables accurately, you have no idea, like the rest of us, so why pretend that you do??????????????
In giving Joe Grey a three year contract we have created a scenario where any suitors will have to pay a fee. PH has publicly stated he is happy with the budget, so he thinks it's reasonable. So if you can tell us what you know that PH doesn't, maybe your plucked out of the sky presentations to us may get a fair degree of credibility.
As for £150m the figure is not presented as the exact amount but the sort of figure a passionate Poolie could be willing to share for the club's benefit. As you seem to be interested in what it would take, give us your figure which you think a benefactor should be willing to part with.
No matter what the club do, or Raj does, you come out with criticisms which are never backed up or substantiated and I, for one, am getting sick, sore and tired of it. Up to now I have tolerated your stance as an opinion and nothing else but now I'm becoming more and more convinced you are simply out to nark the pitch and my patience has been stretched.
Have a word with yerself.

We shall never know so anything said is pure conjecture or even wishful thinking but my reasoning is with Johnson, Cass, Armstrong and Oates at least the squad would have been considerably stronger and considering that up to the Rotherham defeat we still had an outside chance of a play off place, their contribution just might have swayed it. I certainly think our goals for column would have been improved so who knows.

Derwent, these constant efforts to undermine any non-Raj purist opinions with these ridiculous demands for witness statements and forensic evidence are really boring. I don't fit into the 'doom monger' mould either before you try and use that crude tactic. You're like Snowy but without the eloquence. That bloke at least entertains me.

I think you also need to have a word with yourself. Civility is obviously not your strong point and I'm afraid too many people are actually pointing this out.
We are a community and respect for each other is a necessity to maintaining equilibrium.
I'm sure you don't wake up every morning thinking who can I piss off today, so can I politely request you curb your enthusiastic antagonism.
Ta in advance.

Who knows but I don't consider Spike to be a bonehead and totally disagree with the sentiment. He was potentially out of his depth and maybe a bit green but I'm sure his intentions were sincere and maybe, with everything that's going on in his life, it was all a bit too much for him.
Now can we please show a little respect and cut out the insults.
You've got what you wanted so it is maybe time to show how big a man you are. I have full confidence that you can do this. Please prove me right. Ta.

from hufc facebook o/s..about right..

"Love the way the management team is pulling the side together. Obviously a lot of talking has been going on for several weeks now before Pools choice of manager was even announced. Watching the interviews of our manager & assistant they are head and shoulders above the previous incumbents.
Can't knock Graham Lee & Michael Nelson for their contribution to HUFC as players........two of the best........but their pre/post match interviews really exposed their weaknesses in management.
Onwards & upwards"

I think you also need to have a word with yourself. Civility is obviously not your strong point and I'm afraid too many people are actually pointing this out.
We are a community and respect for each other is a necessity to maintaining equilibrium.
I'm sure you don't wake up every morning thinking who can I piss off today, so can I politely request you curb your enthusiastic antagonism.
Ta in advance.

Too many people? Who exactly? Sounds like a bit of a list. You should be able to reel off a few names off the top of your head. Please do so and I'll make my peace with them and put right my lack of civility.

Civility aside, why should I be bothered about my opinion pissing people off? This is a football forum not an echo chamber. Others are rightly not bothered and say their piece freely.

its always just about opinions and nothing else. guesses of what the past might have brought and what the future holds. every single thing what happens at pools will cause 5,000 different opinions. the problem on here is the lack of contributers that seem to make any opinion stand out. everyone is right if thats their opinion based on what they actually think as really we know nothing. thank goodness we do not all see things the same as the bunker would be dead. one thing about different opinions is that it makes you think and we are not walking around in a brain dead haze. having an argy barby on here is much harder than the old pub bar one as your brain goes faster than the finger.

It wasn't directed at or referring to you, Mr IMP. Unless of course you recognise it as being descriptive of your good self. Only you can answer that.

There's room for everybody Mr P and that is the point. Personal abuse is not necessary though and I would suggest a little forethought before it is introduced and you are agreeing with me, so we'll leave it there.
