A lot of people may disagree with this but I think their is a decent player hiding somewhere in Bogle. Hartley’s training methods could be what helps him rediscover what he once had. Big teams have spent a lot of money on him but he has lost his way big time in the last few years. He started pretty well for us but then turned crap but if Hartley can get him fit and motivated then we may have a decent striker there. Does anyone else think he can do well for us or is he a lost cause?

Sounds like a player who needs a motivator manager.
Arm around shoulders, carrot and stick or a good kicking who cares as long he can hit the onion bag.
If he looks like being a spud bury him.

I agree, I think he's a good player, quite clever on the ball with good feet. You could see him getting frustrated and dropping deep all the time and that's not where you want your main striker. The lack of service to our front players in the last few months didn't help. Hopefully some new players and a good pre season will help him.

I think he will benefit from Hartley coming, Lee and Nelson had a rather laissez-faire attitude to players performances, expecting everything to turn out in the end without too much input from them…… especially tactics wise where he was often left alone up front with zero support, the last matches of the season made that obvious.
Players have to be chided, encouraged and made aware the manager is watching you.

could do with losing a few pounds for me...looks slow and ponderous compared to how he used to look a few years back with grimsby..and the habit hes got into of falling on his arse looking for free kicks does him no favours..that said for a big lad he obviously has good close control of the ball can hold it and is undoubtedly able to stick the ball away well..not seen enough aggression from him though... and no threat at all in the air..but the last dozen or so games we were a shambles... and he was often played down the middle by bonehead completely isolated in a front three...hope he can improve in a better team with a better manager..

agree poolie 1. did not look fit when he arrived and never really inproved that way. think or hope that a good pre season will get him back to the player he was. goodness knows what donny rovers did to that lad but they struggled last season. just wonder if he is a good player in a good team as he looked crap in that end of seasons shit show. he certainly will not be the first player like that.

If we start with a 5-3-2 formation, with Sterry & Fergie getting crosses in again,he'll get a bagful.

I always liked 532 but eventually teams found us out and we had to change to 433 which had worked well in the cup games and then worked well in the league for a while. I agree though, it could get the best out of Bogle playing alongside someone, preferably someone with pace. We would need an attacking midfielder to play in the midfield 3 though.

Your attacking midfielder could be Crawford, especially when he discover shooting with his head over the ball stops it going over the stand, or even the crossbar.
There is another one who the description " there's a good player in there somewhere" applies to. Time to start showing it.

Again like Bogle Crawford could be a beneficiary of a good manager.
Lets hope Hartley can do this.

Was Challinor not a good manager he couldn’t get Crawford to hold his place down. Yes he was a nice footballer on his day (apart from shooting) but sadly not week in week out.

I cannot believe how worlds apart that Bogle looked to the one we have - he actually has pace and can skin a player. Not seen him do any of those sorts of things for Pools - pinging them 25 yards aswell and getting top bins - not just a one off either as quite a few in that video.

really hope he hits that sort of form again - or even half would do - get us 15 goals a season id be happy.

he holds the ball up well but apart from that there is so much missing from his game compared to that montage of his goals - Hartley no doubt will get him fit - just hope his confidence comes back a bit too.

saw bogle years ago when he played for solihull moors. he was unplayable in that game and made some that are presently raved about like tsimanga look very ordinary in comparison.
