Morris I understand has bought a house in the town but has been told he must wait to see if the new manager (whoever he is) wants him.

This is beyond a joke now for two pre seasons running the club has been an utter joke.

Exactly the penny is finally starting to drop.

Raj must now stop all this stupidity and get us a decent manager and some decent players in. He has said the club is in the best financial situation for the last 15years,I would dispute that with the debts we have. Believe me word has gone around about the budget the manager's salary and the expectations of an interfering chairman . I do not think any one can defend his action or lack of over the past 4 weeks. Now it looks like another prospective manager has declined and is joining the QPRR coaching staff. Do something man!!

What exactly are the amount of those debts, you seem to know so spill the beans
Believe me word has gone around about the budget the manager's salary and the expectations of an interfering chairman .
This ‘word’ going round of which you speak, real proof, examples, not your personal ‘interpretation’
I do not think any one can defend his action or lack of over the past 4 weeks. Now it looks like another prospective manager has declined and is joining the QPRR coaching staff. Do something man!!
Just supposing none of these many managers named on here is the man who gets the job, you’d be guilty of feeding your own expectations and proved disastrously wrong, but none of your past ‘visions’ ever came to be proved right either.

I might take your complaints seriously but your flowery grovelling, obsequious prose of a post joyfully welcoming ‘Graeme Lee and Ben’ (sounds like his pet dog) to the club put Uriah Heep in the shade.
Not so much a ‘Man for all Season’s’ as a ‘Face for all Season’s’.

Pools borrowed £2 million pounds from one of Pams friends, I believe he is quite happy to wait for the money.

You’re hallucinating Mr A, I’d rather give our lass the job.

careful what you say. she might be next on raj.s plans with no guarentee she would accept the job. still think we are getting ground into the dust where we will accept anyone in the end.

Not going to make any comments on the budget or if managers have turned us down as realistically none of us know the truth.
What I am concerned about is that it’s over 4 weeks since Graeme Lee was sacked and we haven’t appointed anyone. If the manager we get is out of work why wait this long? How come it takes us so long to find a manager when other teams can do it within a few weeks

Job vacancy - 1 advertise job 2 make short list 3 interview short list 4 choose best applicant. Simple isn’t it. Of course could have headhunted someone earlier.
I just wished someone would come out and tell us what’s happening.

thats too simple nowadays because it would work. i doubt anyone applying for the pools job anyway will know from the outset that it will not be the best paying job in football or the club has a top league 2 spending budget. no one would be here for the money which is a plus point.

I’ll be amazed if any of the ‘ones that got away’ in the manager stakes even figured .
Might be quite funny this when the dust finally settles. I’m rather looking forward to it now.

Well I'm happy with this, much rather Hartley than someone like Grayson. Got a bit of an edge about him and has plenty of experience at a good age. Older assistant in young who has good experience as well. Just relieved it's finally done!

Here, here. I’m really excited by this appointment and think the lad will do well. Mind, no matter what he does, the doom mongers will continue to spout their bile.

Nice one Raj.
An excellent recruitment process. Lets hope it turns out well and fulfils the potential.
A little long as we were all getting a bit squermy (some twisting more than others).
Tried a lower bid, stepped up with more money when required, brings him in with his side kick and paid compensation I understand.

Ha, my wife informed me as well. I was watering my recently planted begonias.
Cove Rangers have said he initially turned us down but Pools went back with a better offer.
Maybe the sticking point was a better contract or bringing his side kick or simply more money for him self, who knows but the usual suspects will make up the answer(s) and out they'll come.
I am happy with the appointment and that it is finally done. Let's give him a chance , get behind him and see what he achieves recruitment wise. If he can convince Raj to dig deeper he might get some decent players to do the same. He can start with Mols and Timi.

Wonder if he was always the number 1 choice?

He’s an interesting candidate given he has never been in the running for other English clubs aside from ours. Lots of vacancies across NL, L2, L1 of late and been no where near the top of the bill aside from ours.

Don’t get me wrong, like the look of him though.

Not recently, though according to his Wikipedia he knocked back the chance to manage Cardiff when he was Dundee manager.

Irrelevant, he’s No 1 now. Could be an interesting selection, time will tell, but looking forward to this to see how it pans out.

Well not completely irrelevant.

I’m pleased we’ve hired someone who has had some semblance of success but not going to be drawn on the love in yet.

Hartley is a brave man. Our 10th manager in 4 years. An extremely well budgeted and competitive League 2 awaits him in his first season in English football.

Given this appointment, I’m stunned we ever handed Graeme Lee his first stab at management. Still don’t think - despite the odds - the likes of Grayson were ever going to touch this one.

According to the Cove Rangers website this has been on the cards for a few weeks and it was an improved offer that swung it. They said:

Chairman Keith Moorhouse spent long hours discussing the deal, “This has been on the table for the past couple of weeks, and I know Paul was torn between the loyalty he feels towards us and his desire to manage in England. The lure of full-time football was also a major factor, and in the end, I think that, and the improved offer from Hartlepool, swung it their way”."

From what Splod said it’s fairly obvious he was first choice in that time table.
Don’t know where you get the ‘love in’ angle from, I never give someone my 100% backing up front no matter who they are till they prove it , but don’t knock them from day one either, I call it being reasonable.
10th manager in 4 years…. sctatchinghead we’ve had 6 managers in four years and of those one was Tony Sweeney covering, for a month and the other was Richard Money who went AWOL after a month.
Your confidence is ……. reassuring.

well done raj and everyone involved in this appointment ..this lad is a proven winner as a player and a manager ..with a bit of a nasty streak..just what we need..no more jobs for the boys and chummy lads culture..no more favours for crocked mates and slackers will now be shown the door..no more resigned acceptance of second best and cant be arsed attitudes from players...no more ...no more...no more..

I notice response to the appointment was a bit muted and it was a Bank Holiday, but doubtless there’ll be those knocked off balance by the appointment trying to think up a valid reason yet again to pick at the scab, arriving on the outrage bus eventually.
Maybe Raj acted on the advice of Mr Geek, that’s what he’s employing him for in the first place after all…… to do the analysis.
In the time scale and given the initial re-buff, followed by a larger offer, we are talking two sets of negotiations, so it would appear Hartley was the No1 target.

He will be judged the same as all the previous managers.
On Results.
Just got to hope for the best.

Your confidence is ……. reassuring.

I always forget this is the ‘nobody can disagree with Snowy’ forum. Have a day off pal.
