Would Pools take a chance on Thomson after Lee both have no experience in the Football League ?

The difference being... Very crude but here are the factors i think make Mr Thomson a better candidate than say Lee was...plus some

1. Thomson has senior mens football experience
2. He has proven track record (just like DC had) albeit a lower level but still Scottish second Division - Good win percentage again at senior level
3. Wont have any association with the "job for the lads" (so hopefully Nelson will be off too).
4. Had a good Senior Prof Football career (better than what say Lee had). This makes no difference tbh but maybe his contacts in the game may be better.
5. Is wanted by Dundee (Prem Scottish Club). So clearly someone there thinks he can do a job too. Almost got the Kilmarnock job too.

Would a player manager be a possibility?

Bromley have also just confirmed Woodman has signed a new 3 year deal too

also if it is Thomson... i hope he can bring with him the best of that Promoted team.

Seems they have a forward and Midfielder who score goals...

what player would you be possibly thinking of ? please dont say Liddle

Clough,Ashurst,Turner,Newell, non had previous experience. Just a gamble you can bet the experienced ones had been sacked a few times. That’s football.

If you look at the betting sites there is all and sundry listed and all mostly at 33-1. Perhaps Raj is waiting for a 100-1 outsider he can put his grand on and then employ him.

He would make a nice £100k that could be used to part finance the team for the season ahead.

Lovely jubbly says Del Boy.

A good match may be a decent player near end of career who has taken all the coaching badges.
Might not be a bad option.

Lots of speculation on the Dundee fans forum tonight that Thomson will be announced as their new manager tomorrow although views are mixed as to whether he’s good enough. Still, looks like another rumoured appointment for us has slipped through the net.

This is turning into ‘Desperation Street’ where anyone can be linked with the job in a feeding frenzy of the needy.
The manager’s out there (I hope), but the only disappointments are the self inflicted ones.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I’ll just sit and count the daisies grow and …… wait yawn2 ….lol quite nostalgic really, the IOR interview process all over again.

The club must be interviewing for the 23/24 season.
Nelson n Sweeney will be interim until then.
Keep the faith the club is still in excellent growth mode.
UTP.
Project 25 still on track.

When Lee was ditched, rightly in my opinion, in such a ruthless but necessary manner, I assumed it was because his replacement was waiting in the shadows. Silly me.
So, Nelson’s remaining got me thinking, were they so naive as not to know that when the sheriff goes, his deputy rides out of town with him into the sunset.
I still need to know why Nelson is still here.
He was sharp off when it suited him previously and would now like him to perform a second departure……I got very suspicious when he didn’t get put into orbit with Lee.
As for the amusing idea of Sweeney and Nelson, that would be a truly ludicrous idea. It would scream cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap….from the rooftops.

“Manager Kevin Thomson and assistant manager Kevin McDonald have today tendered their resignations which have been accepted by the club board,” said a statement on Kelty’s website. “Over recent weeks it became apparent that Kevin’s aspirations lay away from Kelty Hearts Football Club."

Sounds like wherever they are heading it will be as a double act.

if they did come to pools you could see the club issuing a similar statement in 12 months time if he brought some short term success to the club. another harrison type of appointment with someone having success at a similar but much lower level than pools are at.

Maybe they’ll keep Nelson on as chauffeur like Parker on Thunderbirds.

For me the general and necessary situation is at the point where the players return for pre season (with new recruits joining them) the squad is assembled.
Since we yet have to appoint a new manager and possibly new additions to the back up staff, identify ( by the new manager) targets to re shape and improve the playing squad, negotiate deals with them and there agents, we seem to be dawdling a bit, to say the least.
There is a well known description for scenarios such as these and it is FARCICAL.
FFS Pools get on with it.

things could be far worse than we think. apart from rumour i just wonder how many have turned pools down. the club must know as we do that the clock is ticking and this wasted time does not give me much confidence on who will eventually get the job.

rumour on the other board saying David Artell was only just interviewed yesterday - dont shoot the messenger

find it hard to believe as Raj stated the list of candidates was down to the wire now - unless a wildcard was thrown in and he fancies it !

Also see Notts County have snapped up Langstaff from newly promoted gateshead

If he was interviewed yesterday I hope he's perked up a bit since that post-match interview the day Crewe got relegated. He looked borderline clinically depressed.

Scottish papers saying that Thomson is definitely NOT going to Dundee and bookies have him 1/3 for Pools job.

I've arrived at a decision over the manager's job. Me and Snowy are going to do it together.
With the gelling of our collective genius we will be in the championship in two seasons, pulling in massive crowds of 40,000 plus in our revamped Vic.
Ratboy will be our chief disciplinarian and he will have the sole key to the cotton buds box.
Micky Nelson will be retained as chief dog walker responsible for Ratboy's daily exercise routine.
Anybody criticising any of us or the club will be taken behind the Mill House stand and shot with shit.
Brand new regime, everybody..................get used to it.

Yes the Scottish rags have him not going to Dundee - yet their is rife rumblings on their board of them getting the duo and being very well unimpressed by it all ! then theres the Bookies odds to look into again - i honestly thought today would be the day they make an announcement - weathers even nice too for a nice Photo at the vic

What price is Sol Campbell? It’s him now or Big Ron. I don’t think we should go for Ron for obvious reasons.

Yes, I'm absolutely pissed off with it now.
It's going to take quite a few marquee announcements to wake me from my foreboding of the coming season.
The silence is deafening once again.
I have to force myself to check the official website these days, it's so full of stale news.
We have all these new additions to the staff running the club but none of them seem to have a clue on how to communicate to us. Maybe there are that many that they are leaving it to each other.
We are wandering around in the dark, so when is there going to be a sense of direction and purpose and who, amongst the senior staff, is going to grasp the nettle, roll out the gangplank and let us all aboard.
I'm not holding my breath.

Bet they roll Lee out as he’s only been ‘recharging his batteries’ and Nelson’s been holding the fort till his return. :obscene-buttred:

if they had no plan whatsoever they might as well do that or kept him in the job in the first place. its like leaving your job one week and have no plans for another at the same time. only in sport, especially football, would this happen with heart ruling head once more.

Seems like fans are finally waking up to the fact raj has took the piss out of us fans since the win at Bristol. We are doing everything on the cheap and now we can't attract anybody, because they know the budget they will get will get the guy the sack in 6 months time.

This is beyond a joke now for two pre seasons running the club has been an utter joke.

Seems as though Thomson is joining the coaching staff at QPR! Honestly have no idea who is getting this job, it's dragged on far too long.
