 If you were flying away on holiday and the plane failed to take off four times, would you comfortably sit in your seat and tell everyone ….. let’s hope the plane’s run of failures ends here… you’d be talking to yourself…

Hard to tell if he is a proven winner or just it's a micky mouse league. The two bigger clubs he has been at, he has suffered more losses than wins. If he is anything like Cooper we would all take that or even John Hughes.

Bobby Charlton proved that, but why do club owners even think a great ex player will make a great manager. If they do make it, it’s generally because they were quite obscure players who in reality were prospective managers playing football not necessarily brilliantly.
Let’s be honest, the jobs are poles apart.

You get the odd exception like Kenny Dalglish. Let's face it, the vast majority of football managers fail whatever their background.

Danny Wilson had a couple of managerial failures before he came to Pools. Some clubs are basket cases behind the scenes whoever takes over. Pools at the minute are a good gig for any manager. That's not been the case since the best days of IOR.

A good gig to who though? raj has a history of picking the wrong managers then sacking them really quick. We don't seem to be able to keep hold of many staff and don't appear to be able to match wages of most clubs in league 2, so is it a good gig at the moment ? Id agree at the start of last season when there was a feel good factor, but judging by season ticket sales, thats long gone.

I think the club has massive potential, will we ever see it in our lifetimes though?

Pools are financially stable and well supported. Raj didn't sack Challinor - he walked. Any manager who believes in his own ability won't be put off by a chairman who is also impatient for success.

We are definitely financially stable at the minute, but which manager in their right mind, would want to take on a job where you are scratching around for academy players or national league north lads to survive in league 2?

We only signed Carver from NLN,which looks a poor signing.
Bogle won't have come cheap though.

No ,no you've got it all wrong.

There's a gentleman, ex England Manager, with a 46 year career covering 22 Clubs and only 74 wanting to take it easy in Div 2.

Yes you've guessed it - Mr Roy Hodgson

Armchairs will be supplied so we can all have a 90 minute nap once the game starts.

Til we get a manager we’re swinging at anchor going nowhere.
Any signings pre appointment can be dismissed by a new manager quite fairly as ‘nowt to do with me’. In fact if I was a manger I’d resent having players dumped on me by a ‘committee’ and be expected to work with them.
If there’s someone in the pipeline and we’re held up by circumstances ‘somewhere else’ temporarily, I‘d be expecting them to have been drafting out their prep work for some weeks now as regards players.
But until we find out it’ll be people on here coming up with random names who then sign for someone else and are disappointed by the failure of their own prediction which never had a snowball’s chance in hell in the first place.
Meanwhile it’s a sunny morning on the Solent, with me ‘swinging at anchor’ waiting for my motley crew to spoil the peace.

if challinor had been crap then he would have been sacked. the best we can hope for is a bit of success with a good manager before they move on as they will not be here for the long haul. poor ones will continue to be sacked and i doubt many can put a good case for them remaining at the club.

..well.....plan b it is then.....maybe the list of players that were going to be signed by geek boy whether hartley liked it or not didn't impress him too much....then there's working with a bonehead as his assistant to consider....so all in all probably the right choice mate..

Paul Hartley turning us down doesn't look good but is it an agents move after their client was turned down for a job to show commitment to their current job? I'll back Kevin Thomson if the rumours are true but a Scottish 4th division manager who's managed 1 season doesn't give me much hope. If he's the target why not go for Mike Williamson who's limited management experience is with a professional club.
Still holding out hope for a Pete Wild announcement within the next week
