I'm genuinely shocked at that, really didn't see that coming just now. We have been on a poor run but I was expecting Lee to get the summer and at least part of next season to see how we got on. He is a great guy and I wish him all the best!

Could it not have waited a few days to see the season out?

Best wishes for the future Graeme

I thought if Lee went Nelson would also get the push but apparently him and Sweeney in charge on Saturday.

Wonder if he was on some sort of 6 month probation and Raj is getting him out so he isn't due a payout or he just doesn't trust him enough to build a team.

I’m not surprised one bit, people complain then when the axe falls they go all soppy.
How many on here were looking forward to next season?

I know what you mean, if he doesn't trust GL then why back him in the summer. I just didn't see it coming right now.

I thought they should have but wouldn’t have the nerve, but evidently they did.
But when you have a team that looks that demotivated, don’t be surprised.
Nelson in charge on Saturday.

Raj isn't daft he knew season ticket sales would be dreadful. Shame it didn't work out but if you Can't motivate the team for last 12 games, what did we expect?

Supporters who have watched the team in the past weeks on top of the poor transfer window signings, will have had serious doubts about Lee. Whilst feeling sorry for anyone losing their job this is what happens in football. Raj has seen what is happening and made a hard decision which I think the majority of supporters will agree with.

With one game left of the season? What a lovely gesture from the club.

Will be drafting my PowerPoint presentation this evening. Hoping a bit of word art will top Micky Nelson's effort and blow Raj's socks off to get me the job, as can't see any one else wanting it if those signings are what the owner considers a 'significant investment' in January.

IN RAJ WE TRUST ! This is absolute dynamite from the main man. His timing is impeccable - i think Raj just may have turned a corner in terms of football club ownership and the tasks needed to keep us not only financially stable but competitive on the pitch. Season ticket sales would be dog shite if this kept up ! The managers available once the season has started aint gunna be as good as it is now - he needed to show the fans hes willing and commited to the club. Job done.

Lee would of wasted the budget and got us relagated. I literally just har a convo today with a work colleague explaining our plight and how i think Lee may of walked if Saturday went tits up. Nice news for the weekend. Lee is a top bloke and i wish him well but im more interested in my team and that stance will stay ! It’s important we now get someone like Wild or in the mould of DC. Push on. Sign some decent lads and get us up the table. Next season already becoming more interesting than the last. UTFP !!!!

Agree with most of you. Season tickets would have suffered and Raj is a businessman who does not gamble. Really feel sorry for Lee losing his job but I think Nelson would be a total total disaster.

Also … amazed Nelson has kept his job. Feel he may also be gone come the start of next season. New manager with Sweens … plus his own coaching staff.

Waited just long enough to get the Gemma Lee Testimonial game out of the way. Who said Raj had no heart?

Still, Pools were heading for a summer of anti-climax and drift so I can't honestly say I'm disappointed. Nelson will certainly follow Graeme Lee out of the exit door in due course - Tony Sweeney maybe not. That Youth Academy job looks like a secure berth.

Sorry to see anyone loose their job but action needed taking. As I said on his appointment should have had an older more experienced assistant manager working in tandem. Can not see if Nelson has any integrity he should resign out of loyalty as he came as part of the same package . Clear the decks and get an experienced league two manager and make sweeny his assistance. Having said all of this if we had been told we would be safe from relegation, 4th round of the FA cup and semi final of the Papa Johns trophy we would have been over the moon.Still reckon Raj is a big problem at the club and the sooner we get new owners the better.

I was absolutely complaining about the signings in January. Who in their right mind saw some of those signings and thought this is some great investment? Carver, Fletcher, Lawlor? What? Only Bogle and Morris looked like good signings at the time, and in hindsight were they? Bogle got a two year deal would you give him that now? Morris unfortunately a class above at the start but is now knackered.

I have no idea how much was spent on them all together, but given the fact that certain players were being offered 300 quid a week and have subsequently ended up playing at a higher level, I'm going to put two and two together and have a guess that it was not a 'significant amount' for a league 2 club with 'ambitions' of promotion to league 1 given the income the club has generated over the course of the season.

You're forgetting about a near full team that has been released over the last few months. Replaced by a few kids who have hardly played barring white, and a conference north lad.

‘certain players were being offered 300 quid a week’ a bit more information please, that’s a bit vague.

The job this season was to stay up - given all circumstances involved …. I belive Raj also kept back moneys again. He knew enough to get us where we are. Which tbh.. has been done with Bogle chopping in - hes won us games tbh. Litltle
Trial period - spend some cash to keep the fans happy etc. Now we turn a corner - new manager. New season ! The olf guard wasnt good enough. Lesson learned. Spend wisely and hope the new manager has the pedigree - uses the budget much better. Raj keeps his cards close to his chest , i now fully believe the man knows exactly what hes doing. Mark my words he will take us into league 1

I agree with Mr Beard, not many were excited by the last minute signings in January. The only bright spots were the cup runs and Mols who is realistically going to leave us Raj won't pay him what he's worth. It's going to be a bleak pre season and if he's acting as normal we won't see anyone of worth early in the process

Oh Snowy, that would be wrong and I've seen some shit over the last 60 years. All I want is a realistic manager, Lee was a gamble, the best managers have the balls to challenge their Chairmen. We've seen that with DC and Turner in the past.

You appear to have mastered the art of contradiction, you are the one actually writing next season off before we’ve ended this one and predicting who’ll be gone. Crack on, it’s entertaining, but pointless.

Just for the record, Jake Lawlor was signed for Pools last August. By Challinor.

Fletcher and Morris were loan signings.

This is football. 2 wins in 15. Some god-awful performances along the way. Bizarre transfer dealings.

The only shock for me is why is Nelson still involved and why not let him have the final home game and then pull the trigger?!!?

Raj was always an apprentice in the world of big club ownership… Ill undoubtedly always give the man credit for what he actually did. … remember… he gave the Poolie faithful a terrace to still stand and cheer, he gave us Hartlepool United to support in League 2. Albeit some of his workings arnt the greatest and his history is as tarred with football clubs as nepolians is with winning waterloo but.. the big but is he knows when the turkey needs ringing and doesnt stand for anything but the vision in
His head concluded. At this level thats the ownership we need. He has a belief and so long as he keeps the club funded i hope we get there. Be a long time if im being truthfully honest but this is a damn good steer in the right direction. Pass me another stella … utfp !!!

Care to explain what lesson you have in mind Snowy? Raj and his advisors deliberated for a month after Challinor left - and appointed Lee and Nelson, saying they were the outstanding candidates for the job.

I hope the lesson he's learned is to steer clear of tyro managers who haven't got any sort of track record in the NL, let alone the Football League. Hopefully the Richard Money Experience has already warned him off the geriatric has-beens.

Lee and Nels where the Brand new Cortina in the window - the British equivalent to an american muscle icon. It looked well. Gave all the right noises but never really lived upto thr legacy of the Buck itself ! Sold a dream - lived a nightmare for the
Latter part Nels should go too. His caretaker antics didn’t exactly do him any favours. Baffled by that one like.

A gamble is all it was - Raj wont ever admit that but at the time of loosing one of our best managers the panic button was smashed and somehow the leaky ship managed to get itself back to shore.

Lesson learned. Get the right man and you go places ala DC.

He was hardly going to say anything else at that point. I suspect he did expect better from him and I speculate there could have been ‘advice’ from other sources advocating Lee for the job, but, he acted ruthlessly when he realised he’d hired a pup.

I had my doubts and was surprised when Lee got the job, when the momentum of the season ran out after the Rotherham match we were like an aircraft I heard described as being 10, 000 rivets flying in loose formation, just like the team. I always had the impression it was supposed to be a former heroes return, but we all know they never work out  .

Lee’s appointment was like putting the driver of the Transporter Bridge in charge of a cross channel ferry…they both carried passengers and vehicles over the water, but that’s where the similarity ends.
