First reported in 1992, but how much went unreported before 1992?

It cost £3 a week for the licence, this isn’t only for TV, it covers multitude of services world wide, how would they be funded ?

If that makes you happy crack on, you can pay my £3 a week too.
Why, in this day and age should it be a criminal offence if you don’t pay for a service you never use….. in answer to your rather naive question, how is every one else funded… do the maths, they can produce tosh because they answer to themselves.
I take it this is a wind up and you are The Director General or Gary Lineker to come up with a line like that.

‘A multitude of services worldwide’….. ? The BBC world service is about as enlightening now as ‘Woman’s Hour’ (why no Men’s Hour?) and that’s about it, so what are these services ‘worldwide’ ?…… and how about letting ‘worldwide’ pay for them.

The BBC provides ten national TV channels, regional TV programmes, an internet TV service (BBC Three), 10 national radio stations, 40 local radio stations and an extensive website.

BBC World Service broadcasts to the world on radio, TV and online, offering news and information in 42 languages plus English. We also have a commercial arm, BBC Studios, as well as a number of other commercial ventures.

no chance of a mens hour. more chance of a trans hour and kids hour with make up tips for 5 year olds who fancy being a girl for a day. both presented by the 15 per cent minorities for the 85 per cent that will watch it. got a feeling if they hadn,t stopped the free licence for pensioners the licence payment would not be as big an issue as it is. doubt anyone likes paying it but no different to car tax you need to buy if you only park on the side of the road and never drive it.

I would rather pay £3 a week although I don’t as I live abroad most of the time, I am just stating what it costs neither agree or disagree. Why pay for a monthly subscription to companies who have destroyed football paying exorbitant wages to players way beyond what any living person can earn for 90 minutes of graft.

I would rather not pay for something I don’t watch but have to pay on threat of a criminal conviction, if it’s as good as you say it is, it’ll pay for itself with ads.

You miss the point ….YOU have a choice with a subscription, the BBC can give you a criminal conviction if you don’t pay their ‘fee’.
I don’t subscribe to any sports channels by the way.

Excellent, but YOU are the one advocating how it’s cracking value for £3 a week, so if no one pays there’s no BBC.
Not a problem for me then, but to be fair, if was it free, I still wouldn’t watch it.

I don’t live abroad because I am loaded, I live where I live because the cost of living is loads cheaper than the U.K, no TV Licence required, no Council Tax, Electricity £40 a month, Gas £10 every 3 months, petrol £1 a litre, Diesel 60p a litre and a decent reliable public transport system. I don’t live permanently abroad, I am aware about cost of living in the UK, I can live here on my State Pension more or less but no way I could do that in the UK.
I really feel for the older population and hopefully without being too political the red wall areas remember what they voted for and the brexiteers, I was barred from the Hartlepool Post FB page because I was argumentative, they didn’t like anti brexit people or posters slagging of our illustrious MP who up until now has done f*** all for Hartlepool similar the the previous MPs.

So why are you bothered about the TV licence if you don’t even live here, if you can’t see the irony now you’ll never see it.
By the way, what’s being an anti brexiteer got to do with anything, unless of course you reside on ze continent. If you start being argumentive about Brexit you’ll be arguing with yourself.

I do live in Hartlepool now and again, I don’t pay the Licence as I don’t watch anything associated with the BBC.
Brexit I am still waiting to see what the advantages are, I don’t live in an EU country, Johnsons a*** has been covered by Covid and the conflict in Ukraine.

Yeah, Boris paid a mad scientist type bloke down Belle Vue to start the old Covid thing and slipped Vlad a few well thumbed girlie mags circa 1984 to start the Ukraine nightmare…seriously
So, you don’t live in an EU country…… somewhere hot and steamy then.

Yes hot and steamy, Johnson I refuse to call him Boris and co and the brexiteers have made it a bit awkward to live in an EU country now.

No he hasn’t, you just have to adapt and comply with their rules and regs and settle in. If you like it there, no problem.

I’ve realised that one time we had our colonial adventurers who lived abroad in enclaves keeping a watch on the natives. They are looked down on nowadays by cool, enlightened people who buy a holiday place on the continent in some middle class enclave and keep a watch on the natives.
The buggers are all the same.

TV licence 3 quid a week. Call it just 41p a day to make it sound even cheaper. I,d be quite happy to pay the licence fee for the money the bbc do not get but not paying for something i do not use. the licence feot buy onee is about the same as a season ticket for bradford city but you would not buy one as you do not go there. infact they are welcome to come to my house, mess around with my tele to stop it recieving anything from the bbc.
