This is one of my locals, about 10 mins walk from where I live.

I went the other day for lunch to find that it was closed.
I was gutted as they do the best home made chips around!

Checked their Facebook site and it states the new management are struggling to find staff to be able to open every day.

They especially need a chef/cook as they only have one permanent one at the moment, but sounds like they need bar and serving staff as well.

Anyway, I thought I would post this in case you or anyone you know are looking for work...especially if they can make chips.

Cheers.

I'm sad to say that after going there post-match for 20 years, the new managers appear to have tried to fix too many things which didn't need fixing. They did make a fantastic change to the garden area however. A few of the staff had worked there for years until lockdown occurred, & by all accounts the hospitality trade in general is now struggling to find staff.
I understand one of the previous chefs works at the Spotted Cow, where the menu is similar to the remarkably extensive one The White Hart used to have, but the surroundings & ambience are nowhere near as good.
If the two owners are working in the business, how many more bar & serving staff do they need?
I agree about the chips were the best around

Seems to be the curse of the hospitality industry by changing things for what they want and rather than what customers want. Always find that one busy places who change owners or managers never seem the same again where the saying of if its not broken do not fix it should be used rather than their own agendas.

Four of us went their for lunch and it was a case of eat up and goodbye, no chance to linger. Nothing wrong with the food, enjoyed it, but just being told “we’re a pub you can order drinks y’know” after we’d all ordered soft drinks, didn’t go down too well with us as we were all driving. A bit of tact never goes amiss.

thats the reason i only go to places i know. you feel obliged to buy a drink because it is a pub even if you do not want one. some just do not realise that just because they do food to drag you in there is no obligation to buy anything but that. if you go in just to get pissed i doubt you,d be told that food is available if you want it. never ever as well dare to commit the biggest sin on the planet by asking for a glass of tap water with your meal.
