[quote="Eiphos_3"]we need that charismatic experienced Manager with contacts in the game. Big character to lift some of the younger lads off their asses and get hold of players who seem to think Pools is just a stepping stone in their career.
all this is fine and everyone makes some good points about the present situation. the main problem is where is this ideal manager going to come from. how would pools fans feel if they dipped into non league to find one. i,m really hard pushed to think of a name of any manager who has had only success in his job without any failures along the way. plenty of those who have succeeded have had large financial bawhere they could sign any realistic players they wish. lee always comes over as a decent guy you,d like to have a drink with in a pub and most would love him to be a success because of this. football management has never really been a job for a nice guy, but somewhere the arrogant and plain nasty seem to prosper. be very interesting though to compare what we are saying now to a few months back when most things in the pools garden looked rosy.

My view from the outset was to find the appointment surprising, underwhelming to be honest, but I said we are where we have get behind them. Several months down the line I’m still surprised and still underwhelmed….. sctatchinghead

I believe most supporters found the appointment of Lee underwhelming and even more so Nelson. However the call for an experienced manager does not always bring success, look at Oldham and Scunthorpe. Choosing a manager is a gamble let’s be honest most only last two or three seasons. They seem to be on a carousel and again ‘The Sugar Daddy’ owner, although not guaranteed, is a big help.

Winning is never guaranteed, it’s how you respond to not winning that’s the mark of a player.

thats really true, finding out the character of any player can be as important as all the stats on how they play and the skill they possess. looking at the games i have seen this season either live or on ifollow the present side on the whole look good when they are winning, but totally opposite when losing. can only say the tranmere and barrow away games where the best team did not win.
