The BBC are bigging up the Boat Race like it is the most important sporting event in the calendar.
Second rate news broadcasters and sporting coverage. How long can they continue????

To be fair they've been doing that forever and a day. Remember watching the Boat Race live on an old black & white TV back in the 70s. Cambridge were the ones in dark grey

Boat Race, Pomp and Circumstance at the Proms, Trooping the Colour - Aunty Beeb still does it all, even though it's supposed to be run by Commies. The only thing that's missing from the Wayback Machine of memory is standing up in front of the TV for the National Anthem when the day's broadcasting finished...

We used only have male DJs Radio 1/2 then came along Janice Long, we now have women football commentators, women referees. Are women allowed to play in the Football Leagues, when I was at school in the sixties one of the opposing teams had a girl winger, our teacher was going mental as our players were frightened to go near her !

In the sixties? Wow.... mind you there was always a teacher somewhere who thought it would be a ‘ jolly good spiffing idea’ to give it a go. I wonder how it turned out eventually. We had a girl in the juniors who was more like a lad than half the lads in the school, never got near the team though, assuming of course she was even remotely interested.

we had a couple like that at my grammar school. they both went to watch football, not together before anyone gets excited, but were more than happy to play hockey for the school. nowadays they,d be possibly pushing for a mixed football or hockey side due to present days fashions.

I offered a small prayer of thanks that the England women lost to the Aussies in their world cup cricket. If England had won we'd never bloody hear the last of it.

I was working out the back this morning and put the radio on and a bit disorientated when the presenter said we’d lost the Cricket World Cup to Australia and I’m thinking...West Indies for a micro second and the penny dropped. Radio off, ripsaw on.

According to the BBC Sport website England centre forward Ellen White has now moved ahead of Sir Bobby Charlton & Harry Kane in the race to overhaul Wayne Rooney at the top of the all time leading England goal scorers. Fantastic achievement, well done Ellen.

Now I don't particularly care where the BBC choose to place the Women's football scores on their site as long as there is a distinction between the Mens & Women's games, quite simply because they are different games/competitions. But to say the Women's leading goal scorer has overtaken some of the Mens leading goal scorers is akin to saying they are playing the same game, this is obviously wrong.

Ellen White is an exceptionally hard working centre forward with an ability to get in the right place at the right time, but only in the Women's game and she would probably agree with that, I hope.

Shape up BBC!

She wouldn’t last two minutes at the bottom of the league pyramid. This is getting farcical, probably a decision made by some cool woke exec with a degree in Air guitar, it’s nonsense.

Well, “they had the technology” and they “ could rebuild him”, but after all that cash splashed, he was still the biggest, stiffest actor on TV.

That's just bizarre. I would say "The majority of women are more emotional than men" but he was merely stating a fact, and there is nothing wrong if they are so. I definitely wouldn't want my Mrs calling me a 'soft bugger' if I was upset if someone I liked had died...etc. therethere

Trouble with the BBC nowadays is it’s in the embrace of the ways of the Woke and that is the prism through which they see the world.
They have opened up a curious distance from the reality of life as we live it to that in their cosy alternative echo chamber.

Years ago crack/banter sense of humour was just a way of life.
Nowadays certain people get offended by basically anything to promote there ways of life and agendas.
Was on tv the other week that comedians are having to change their acts incase they offend parts of the audience.
Sir Bernard Manning will be turning in his grave.
As for that football manager.
He should of just got it of his chest in the Changeing Room. Saying shape up for the next game u useless fucken bunch of dyke bitches.

so true. go to most funerals today or hospitals where a family member has just died it will be women showing the most emotion with men looking after them. benn like that as long as i can remember, and who is hurt by this fact.

Odd as it may sound, I have never been to a funeral where I’ve even felt like welling up, a child would be a different matter but thankfully I’ve never been in that awful situation.
Now I don’t know why, yet dogs I’ve put to sleep crack me up. Odd that and I can’t explain it.

Some pet deaths can be brutal sometimes worse than human deaths.
Probably because from 3 months old they start their lives off depending on you but never forget that and love you back eternally.

Thing with a dog is you get unconditional loyalty and affection and you control it’s life. I suppose when the time comes you have to decide when it’s life ends, the life of someone/ something that has given you absolute devotion and you relate to it too. It’s a unique relationship because in no other circumstance in normal life do you become the decision maker on ending a life.
Some people don’t understand and treat it as a nothing event….I pity them.
Even my user name on here is my Cairn terrier’s name, a complete and utter terror who once leapt through the bay window to ‘greet’ the postman, the barons loved it, 11 O’clock on a Saturday morning, Pools are at home and I had to get a pane of glass cut and fitted, loved the bugger though.

know when my old man died, yes he died he did not pass away or was lost to us, there wasn,t a dry eye in the room. not from sadness, but from the tales people brought up from the past that were more than a little amusing. with dogs you can laugh at their antics when they were living but it takes a lot longer to recount them. i have always been racked with guilt as whether i could have done more or earlier with their illness. know a lack of trust in modern vets doesn,t help as my back pocket knew when my last dog died. 6 grand gone with only 3 from the insurance for 10 weeks of treatment that i,m sure he knew would not work.

It's getting worse now.
In the gossip section on the football page there's two news reports about womens football !!

Manchester City and England midfielder Georgia Stanway, 23, has agreed terms on a two-year deal with Bayern Munich. (Sky Sports)

I'm guessing Georgia is a woman but who knows I could be doing the BBC a disservice

Anyone remember a TV comedy in the early 80’s called ‘ Big Jim and the Figaro Club’ about a group of builders in the forties…….. and at the end it always had the phrase referring to the forties as quoted ….’In the days before the world went mad’ ….. I see their point now.

just need to look where they position the league tables to show the importance they feel it deserves. rugby league is even worse where the womans league is placed before its 3rd tier of the mens game. the more something is pushed down my throat the less interest i have in it. surely i,m not on my own feeling this way.

I’m not interested in it because I don’t like it.
But in the world we live in where political elites impose new values on us, this is the way forward to them, but…… it’s still crap.

See the US mens and womens teams announce yesterday they’re going to pool all their earnings and share it out equally between both squads.
Wonder if that could happen here

The Charity Shield between Liverpool and Man City will be played at Leicester City, capacity of just over 32000 because the Woman’s European Championship is being played at Wembley the day before. WTF woman’s football now taking presidencie over mens football ?
