Still not official but according to BBC Radio Humberside he was down at Grimsby yesterday and will be signing a permanent deal with them today - just in time to join their push for a play off place. Fair summary of how it looks from a Pools perspective from Rob Laws from the 31 minute mark here:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0brzqm0

It's a real shame Gav Holohan won't have an opportunity to say a proper goodbye to the Poolies on the pitch at the Vic this season. "We've got an Irish midfielder" really belongs to the euphoria of the play-off win rather than any short-lived exploits in League 2 . Thanks and good luck Gav - you'll always be welcome at the Vic, even in a black and white shirt!

he wouldnt get anywhere near the Stockport MF atm and tbh its probably League 2 quality all day long- hence why they are storming the farmers league.

Hes down Hull today according to his Social media account - fair play to him on wanting football at the level hes best suited for imo. Will get them goals id imagine. Good Luck Gav

I think the Stockport rumours have always been unfounded and simply just the thought that Challinor would take someone with him.

I’m pretty sure Gav recently bought a house in Grimsby so it makes perfect sense. For those up in arms about his departure I think it’s clear his level is NL as thats where it looks like he will be.

It’s a good move for everyone IMO and he can leave with everyone’s best wishes.

It looks like it suits everyone and I wish him well in his new venture.
I hope he gets the winning goal in the play off final against you know who.

Good luck and thank you. To be honest imo he was just a decent Nat League player. We certainly haven’t missed him and in no way would he get in at Stockport. However I still have doubts about his replacement Morris is he injury prone? He has certainly dropped down divisions like a lead balloon.

Many seem to be of the opinion that Gav's level is NL, let's not forget who got us of to a winning start back in Lg2. I think he is a good attacking option to have in midfield and better than some we still have, if he is leaving I am sorry and wish him well, don't think GL gave him a fair chance.

Always appeared to give his all during his time with us, but every player has a shelf life. I'm sure he leaves with our good wishes.

If you're talking about last August, yes - 5 starts, 2 winning goals, so he certainly played his part. Then he was out injured for a while and never really got going again. His goal touch deserted him, otherwise he'd have been a lot harder to leave out.

It's a bit of a shock to realise that Matty Daly and Zane Francis-Angol have both played more first team games. He knew his time was up at Pools. If he already had a new contract lined up by the weekend, I don't blame him for putting getting it over the line first and not risking getting injured down at Newport.

23 goals in 108 appearances. That's an excellent return for a midfielder.

Agree 100%. I think he's a big loss. Worth remembering that two of our midfielders are loan players, three if you count sick note Morris so without Gav we are left we Shelts, Smith and 34 yr old Featherstone. Yep in the summer we will strengthen but I reckon Gav still had a part to play and GL didnt give him a fair crack of the whip. Of course we dont know what went on behind the scenes or what was said. Always had a high opinion of Gav and wish him all the best.

It appears Challinor wasn’t interested either, so hardly Lee’s problem alone. To be fair, none of us know what ones on behind the scenes.

Gav didn't weave his magic. Grimsby gave away a one goal lead and lost 1-2 to Solihull Moors.

at a guess anyone who cannot command a regular place in the side will be gone once their contracts are up. have pools really missed anyone who has gone during this season and that includes gav over the last few months. francis angol is odds on to be the next. the recruitment in the summer is going to be very interesting.

no should mean no where necessary ...but now this precedent has been set with gav....suspect spikes phone is likely to be busy over the next couple of weeks with agents wanting the same treatment for their player.....

Like to see a really tall centre half brought in that takes no prisoners and commands the penalty area to stop all those set piece goals we let in. No big fan of killip but he must be as nervous as we are when the opposition have set pieces that are coming into the box.

Another attacking winger would be my priority aswell now with this new formation - Grey to then come on to finish games off etc.

midfield needs a shake up too - not our strongest part of the park without the loanees

Not forgetting the first order of priority, which is persuading our best players (excluding the loanees) to sign new contracts if their current deals are expiring this summer. That'll be most of them then, though if memory serves Jamie Sterry signed a 2 year deal last summer, didn't he?

yes, as long as they have got real pace. pace is something we lack when attacking.

Another Tyler Burey would do nicely. I wonder if Palace have such a player.

exactly what i said the other day - another Burey or Burey himself would be perfect - Millwall have a few more just like him and im sure 2 of them where out on loan this season at clubs in our league.

Crystal Palace no doubt will have another Olise or Zaha coming through im sure. Wouldnt it be great to get a player of either of their ilk into our side for a full season.

Raj shows his credentials again. Well done chairman. This could help to attract players to Pools as a club that looks after their staff.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.
