3-0 to the Welshies. They are on a high and Pools are on a poor run caused by fatigue and injuries. Our only hope is to defend like fook and hope to grab a breakaway goal. One thing is sure we will definitely concede at least two goals.

salty one this... reckon we in for another defeat unfortunately !

park the bus and stick Lidds at the back with ZFA - give Ferguson a rest. 5 at the back and try hit them on the break

either 0-0 bore draw or they stuff us 3-0

this could also be said when we entered the cup games against Lincoln and Sheff Wed - not the best league form yet somehow trounced them both. Hoping for a shock footballing moment tonight and a little spark from say Mols or Bogle to win / draw the game. Their forwards are on fire and bring the same sort of Game that FGR forwards brought and look how that one turned out.

Newport have one of our Academy lads on loan. He is a striker Rob Streete, he has potential but not sure he will be a PL player, scored his first senior goal last week

A team with quick players against our team of plodders.
2-0 at least.

Pools playing some good stuff tonight - full value for being in front.

Look pretty solid with 5 at the back and Sterry and Ferguson able to get forward at will - been missing that in recent weeks.

Good comeback by Pools to go in at the break in the lead. Two good goals as well - Sterry with a clever spin in the box and low shot for the first and a great jinking run by Ferguson into the box, passed to Molyneux who put it in the corner. We look good going forward…

Well it certainly wont be 3-0. A big 45 minutes ahead. Just a cheery note: Newport do tend to score goals in the last few minutes of games.

Well that's more like it! Pools missed a couple of sitters as well as scoring 3 very good goals. Ferguson (2 assists) and Sterry (one goal) both excellent.

4 goals we scored there, three were proper quality. I thought Bogle's was fortunate.

Well that was a real turn up for the books. Fancy winning away at one of the form teams. Must be one of Pools best results of the season, certainly in the league. Over the moon.

Great result where was Dom Telford leagues top scorer, a class display makes the draws against Scunthorpe Oldham and Orient at home even worse we could have been just outside the playoffs but must not be greedy. Well played lads.

Excellent performance/result.
I follow team for Newport not biased and complimentary that the better team took the 3 points.
Foundations in place to have a right good go at promotion next season.
150 poolies Awesome turnout.

Well the last two away games have been far better performances and results than our last two at the vic. made it even better with two comebacks to get the well deserved points. for me pools looked more of a threat in open play but still showed defensive weakness for their set pieces that the scored from. Think pools also would have had a couple of thousand more watching if they had been in an automatic play off position at the vic.

Switching to 5 at the back paid dividends away to a team that are third top - same again at Northampton for sure.

Pools were set up to defend with Featherstone and Smith playing deep, but our attacking play was terrific all game - Newport had no answer to it. Hell of difference to the games against Orient and Bradford when Pools' struggled to string moves together, but both those games came within a week of the massive disappointment of missing out on a Wembley final on pens. Footballers aren't automatons, so there's no point in fretting about those results.

those 5 points dropped would hardly have pushed us up the league either if we had gained them. Doubt anyone expected more than 6 points anyway from the last 3 games. always thought the play offs were more of a dream than a reality anyway. just looking back at our last few away games and performances against the home ones we seem to have the set up and players to make us a better away side than a home one.

Great result and well done lads, surprised Newport didn't bring on the likeable Ellison  for the last 5 mins to grab an undeserved equaliser.

If they had 4700 we must be getting 8k for some games, where the hell were they? no one behind one goal, not many behind the other goal.

It's typical pools start the season at home unbeatable, don't look like we can buy a point away. End the season as one of the best away teams, slumping at home. Our next two away second and first, i hope we just go without fear and beat them.

As many on here have said, it is easier to play against a team who are determined to attack like Newport than the likes of Oldham, Scunthorpe, Orient etc at the Vic. Not to take anything away from last nights superb win because its one thing to have a tactical plan but another thing to execute it the way Pools did at Rodney Parade. Made my weekend, anyway.

Great result. Typical Pools to confound most of the forecasters on this thread.

The BBC match statistics tell us that we only had 40% possession but won! Goes to show that it's what you do with the ball when you have it, not just possession for possession's sake. Newport fans will be frustrated in the same manner as we are when we shed home points against poor teams having had more possession.
Unusually Pools won the fouls stat 13-6 suggesting that we got stuck in as many of the visitors to the Vic do.
Pools better results this season have been against the better football playing teams but in order to challenge for promotion, there must be an improved attacking lineup/strategy against defensive minded sides that come north for a point. A more adventurous approach will come with the occasional setback but 3 points from most games at fortress Vic is a must next season.

I was reading some of their message boards Saturday morning and was amused by one particular post where the Newport fan said..... ‘typical County, we get a good crowd, we’re gunning for promotion and they let us down’ ........ and I thought, change the word ‘County’ for ‘Pools’ and you realise every set of fans are just the same.

There’s something to build on with this team for next season. Hopefully can tie the first 11 down to new contracts asap. With 2 or 3 signings of Bogle ilk I think we’ll be formidable at this level.

I also think if you add Stockport and Wrexham to League 2 next season, it’ll be an extremely competitive and high level division with the likes of Bradford, Mansfield etc all undoubtably going to strengthen and be better.
