Praise of sorts from Martin Samuel in the Daily Mail today:

Good for him, many of his contemporaries would not be brave enough for life at the sharp end. And it doesn’t come sharper than Hartlepool away in two weeks’ time.”

The double awaits Pools. Mark Hughes used to give it out but couldn't take it. Remember Barcelona?

If you ever listen to a radio show or football tv show and Hughes is referenced, you can guarantee on your life someone will say "what a legendary/great player Sparky was".

That's not incorrect. But notice despite how long he's been in management, no one can say anything of note about his managerial career.

Remember seeing him being interviewed on TV from his home and the backdrop of the room behind him was a wall long floor to ceiling cabinet with all his trophies and memorabilia on display, like an emperor in his palace.
