I was interested by the Council reply to Raj. It was the longest response I ‘ve seen for a while to tell us absolutely nothing of any consequence whatsoever.
Asked questions and got gold plated waffle.

I don't know what it is about HBC, they never seem to get past the talking stage.
IOR spent years negotiating with them and never got anywhere and it appears Raj is going through the same experience.

Their decision will arrive on the 12th of never...l the reply reminds me of that Groucho Marx scene where he’s referring to legal jargon.... “the party of the first part hence forward known as the party of the second part etc, etc, etc.....”

While it is very frustrating to hear about the council not willing to improve the ground and surrounding areas is it that Pools are not very good tenants? Are they up to date with the rent,
do they keep the property in good condition and state of repair as any council tenant would be expected to. I heard they expected the council to repair the rink end seats and make the North west corner safe. As we all know a land lord will only do so much.

Funny how Singh always has problems with local authorities when it comes to land use around football stadiums. Is it the councils to blame or could it be Singh that’s the problem?

The Council own the ground, it’s their ground, Pools are Council tenants.
If you are a council tenant the repair of the property externally are the Councils responsibility as are any upgrades unless you have a separate tenants agreement.
IOR had the same drawn out problems with the Council so it’s hardly a new event.
Where did you hear about the seats? Do tell us.
Why did you raise the question of not paying the rent? What do you know as fact or is that speculation on your part.
Sadly you went straight to ‘Club badly run mode’ yet again.

IOR had exactly the same problem on a bigger scale over a longer period, so it’s no surprise to anyone who knows the background locally.
Again... your ‘Singh Syndrome’ has been triggered, pity ...because I like your posts.

wonder if anyone has actually seen the tennancy agreement between pools and the council and who is actually responsible for what and in plain english. never been a lover of councils wherever i have lived where residents seem to be at the back of their list of priorities.

Leaving everything else to one side, the semi-derelict land on two sides of the ground has been in the same state for the 50 years that I've been walking up to the Vic. Shame on Hartlepool Council for half a century of inertia.

Anyone know when the Odeon is reopening?

On the Mill House side approaching both sets of turnstiles there has never been a proper approach road or pathway for pedestrians/supporters to access the ground, just pot holed third world tracks which fall under the Council’s remit being outside of the ground.
The two five a side pitches were a glass strewn joke and continually vandalised, but given their location that should hardly come as a surprise and was not the most pleasant of locations at the best of times.
The whole area is just depressing, Mill House is now in it’s twilight years so things aren’t going to get better and some forward planning by the Council should be in place by now.... or will it end up as social housing?

Essex Poolie and Loan Star are right to question Raj. He is the man responsible for the troubles in Ukraine and at this moment all the ordnance currently rumbling towards KIEV ( all forty miles of it ) was built in the gardens of his Care Homes and supplied free to Russia. The reason the Centenary lounge has been closed and red listed is because it has been turned into a small arms factory, funded by Russian Oligarchs. The man is a bounder.

FFS FFS FFS FFS etc etc.

the neglected state of the millhouse area behind pools....the ghetto standard of nearby terraced housing.... and the fkin eyesore that is the odeon ....is testament to decades of incompetence and inaction by HBC....absolute disgrace... :x

On a number occasions I have complained to the council about the state of the approaches to the Mill House side of the ground. The council say that it is the responsibility of the tenants to do any repairs and the club say it is the responsibility of the owners to do any repairs, consequently nothing gets done. I have quoted health and safety regulations but until an accident happens nothing will get done. The Supporters Association have offered to contribute towards the cost of repairs but that offer has not been taken up. Any suggestions .

its back to my point about what is actually written in a tenancy agreement. somebody somewhere has a responsibility for anywhere where there is public access whether its private or not. The actual approach to the Mill House side might not even be council land or there responsibility or pools under the agreement.

I assume the boundary of the Vic is the walls surrounding the ground, otherwise the club would be equally responsible for Clarence Road pavement! As if.
That waste land approaching Mill House is Council land right up to the grounds boundary walls, not the clubs. If it isn’t the councils they’ve been cutting someone else’s grass for the past 40 years.

cannot really go by that. i live on an unadopted road with another rough road a few minutes away. both have got street lights on them and occasionally they come round re placing dud bulbs in them. any updating of the surface is done by the house builder or the guy who owns the rough track.

So its just coincidence that he had the same problem at Darlo with the council?
It could well be the councils fault on both occasions, it could be both the council and Singhs fault too.
However there is one common denominator here and its never his fault in his view.
Its usually the case that the developer wants it too cheap for the council to agree to. Whilst having a successful football club is beneficial for the town, they have 90k other residents to consider who may not give a chuff if the town has a club or not.

I have in my possession a map which shows, exactly, where the boundary of the Victoria Park lies. It is a much bigger piece of land than just the fencing around the ground and it does include the track at the M.H. side of the ground. The question is who is responsible for its upkeep . H.U.F.C or the H.B.C. About 3 years ago the council did fill in some pot holes but did not complete the job. This seems to indicate that the council accept responsibility but do not see it as a priority.

If you were in that position you’d think it was never your fault either.
If some one thinks they’re right why would they say they’re not?

I would of thought all interest and cash has gone into the new leisure center where jacksons landing used to be. Pools again falls by the wayside. More surprised by the fact we dont have a Strong poolie contingent working within the HBC who could have moved things a little futher for us, not just now either. Even in the IOR days. HBC are a shambles and never do anything to benefit the town itself. If its not building new housing estates that resemble rat runs they aint bothered.

Spending all that money on a transport inter change that stops functioning after teatime has to be seen to be believed.
Maybe, like the change in Parliamentary representation, similarity needs to be replicated into the council chamber.

The ‘Transport Interchange’... ....it started off sounding like Heathrow Terminal 10 and ended up as car park with three bus shelters no one uses because there’s no fecking point to it. Interchange my arse.... I’ve seen the real thing in several locations and they look nothing like this.... it’s a big bus stop with no buses.
The wife informs me they’re making plans for Church Street again, you couldn’t make it up, it’s had more makeovers than my mate Sussex.

I agree, he probably does think its not his fault again. He needs to be asking himself why he's having the same issues with HBC that he did with DBC.
They probably follow the same rule book so maybe he needs to give a bit more leeway from his end?

Aye the interchange we have in Donny is first class. Umpteen bus stands, buses that go everywhere and up to midnight, a mainline railway station, all under cover and connected by escalators to the main shopping centre and a huge car park. The council built the football stadium as well.
We can go into town for a night out and the last bus home is around 11pm. No hassle, no breathalyser to worry about.
Oh and we have an airport and buses run to that on a frequent schedule.
Not to mention a World class racecourse featuring the oldest classic race in the world, first run in 1776.
Not bad for northern working class town. Difference being ambition, foresight and putting the people first.
As Mr Punch said "that's the way to do it"

Reynolds was a clown, however the money he was relying on to build the stadium properly and fund the team didn’t turn up when the company he sold his chipboard company to went bust owing him £20m. He went downhill rapidly after that happened, even more weird than some of the stuff he did when he wasn’t missing £20m.
Houghton and Singh though, different kettle of fish. And Singh is the topic of this thread, hence my replies

We will never know for sure, however the fact is that £20m he had coming to him never turned up and thats when it started going wrong for him.

possibly you have not got stagecoach running your bus services. the worst of all those new age bus companies by a mile. bring back the old united and maroon and cream double deckers with a central entrance/exit.

Stagecoach are the ones running our bus service through the village. It is the service between Doncaster and Worksop. There is another service run by First that goes all over the place. The stagecoach one is the more direct service, normally runs every half hour during the day and every hour in the evening. There was a blip during the pandemic through absenteeism but it is getting back to normal now. The service was previously owned by East Midland before becoming stagecoach. It's always been a decent reliable service but, as I said, there was a hiccup during the pandemic. At busy times it matches the car quite well, sometimes beating it into town usually because there are preferential bus lanes, so very little queuing.

Always good to hear from a Rovers fan

Tell me about it, I'm surrounded by them, although they're among the subdued variety at the moment.

and for some reason that i can never understand is that donny gets on lists of the worst 10 towns to live in england. thats along with hartlepool even though middleton grange has as escalator.

For some reason those websites always feature Hartlepool and Middlesbrough in the top ten worst of everything.... How they work it out is a mystery, they have Peterborough as the worst place to live in England??????.... Blackpool is up there with the most boring, there was one for top ten most miserable places, but how do you quantify misery....best of all was the most dangerous police authority to live in which was Cleveland...????? er, what about London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham.... these web sites are a joke and destroying the reputations of towns to what purpose?

We will never know for sure, however the fact is that £20m he had coming to him never turned up and thats when it started going wrong for him.

Even £20 million wouldn’t come near to funding the dream on offer. You thought you’d got a saviour and swallowed it hook, line, sinker and trawler as well, that’s when your troubles started, the minute you left Feethams. What subsequently followed was the offspring of champagne tastes and lemonade reality.

It wouldnt have funded it all no, although it would probably have been enough to sustain us at a higher level for a while. Virtually everyone knew it was a mistake to build the stadium so we didn't fall for it hook line and sinker. At least he had money and wasnt passing it off as loans to the club, unlike a couple of your more recent saviours.

I’ll not refer to the clown who nearly did kill this club by name because I found his actions reprehensible and not worthy of even being given a name.
The thing is, despite all this I’m not letting him get under my skin. I don’t follow him around complaining about what he did, I’ve condemned him to the parts bin with the label ‘lesson learnt’.... and got on with my life.

Perhaps if he showed up at another football club you would perhaps give their fans a reminder of what he has done in the past, especially if current actions reflect previous ones. It just so happens the man who shafted us ended up at your club. Another reason why I don’t gripe on about Reynolds and Houghton on here, it has nothing to do with pools whereas Singh does.

Just a warning about me. If I buy tinpot small fan base Darlo it might be tempting to loan them some money and then put them out of business when they don’t pay me back. I’m Raj Singh…….no I’m Raj Singh…..no I’m Raj Singh etc.
