Class. Deserved that.
Like i said - play this team and that formation in the league. Fela and Crawford have to start and both play the way they have in the cup.
Listening to Boydy on the ifollow stream he also agrees. Fela had best game in a pools shirt tonight. Odusina was really good too. Class lads. Lets keep it going into the league this time please ! Hopefully with a few additions to follow.

In other news Daly scored on his debut tonight and stockport are top
Of the NL. Goodnight

I thought the prize money worked out per win so we got another 50 grand for that win ? Or is it an accumulation info a pot depending how far we get.

People keep saying our squad is lacking in depth but you wouldn't have thought so tonight, mind you I'm now convinced our style of play suits LG.1 not LG.2 unfortunately.

Just watched the pools media interview with the gaffer, what came across is that he is not going to gamble in the league, he is going to stick with the experienced players and his formation. He doesn't seem to want to upset a few of the players but if we don't win a few away games in the next few weeks we might be in a situation where he has to change his mindset. Look, he knows a lot more about football than me but I think he needs to be prepared to gamble a bit in the league, probably only need a couple of wins on the road to secure what is and will be a great season.

Posters say we need a centre-back as cover for Liddle, yet Hendrie seems solid enough when he has played. He's not even been on the bench much lately, yet tonight he's made captain!

A well deserved win, & if we had taken our chances it could have been 5 or 6-2

Two pairs of socks did the trick for me. Didn't think it was THAT cold to be honest - the gloves stayed in my pocket all night.

Brilliant atmosphere and apart from 10 minutes worry after Charlton scored 2 quick, piss easy goals it always looked as if Pools were in with a shout of winning it.

All the starting 11 did well on the night, even Smith and Killip (for saving the penalty) but the problem with saying these players should be starting every game was summed up by Molyneux coming on as sub and hitting that brilliant curler with his left foot - that every Poolie knows he's got in him but doesn't produce often enough.

No question though that Pools have far more attacking threat with a 4-4-2 and Olomola playing out wide. Think Lee will be sticking with that for a while at least.

We are certainly the underdogs of the 4 teams left in the competition, arguably the best 2 teams in league 1 and a top 4 league 2 side in their maiden season in the footy league, that will suit us, nothing to lose whether we are home or away.

Wigan played a youthful team tonight we might actually be better getting a team who has been there and done it, might not be as bothered as a Sutton or us.

Prize money n Our cut of gate receipts from these cup runs after Palace game = roughly
500 grand.

If those players don’t want ‘disappointing’, then get their arses into gear and start producing the goods, Simple as that.

£150K prize money from this competition so far, £138,629K in prize money from FA cup plus £32K from third round for it being shown world wide. Making £320,629K so far without match receipts, that is serious money for a club like Pools. Now lets get some spent in the transfer window, come on Raj.

Unfortunately true.
Feath etc will have sat there last night knowing that they'll start Saturday no matter how others played last night.
All who started last night should keep their places,Fela & Hendrie especially & send a message to the regulars.
Lee's mindset was to stop the run of defeats, which he has,but now needs to produce more attacking play & start to win a few games.

surely a gamble is worth it on saturday. managers and those who know more about the game always mention stats. well the half time was pools 11 shots 5 on target. surely that was more than in the whole durge on saturday. fine, it was not a perfect performance but those never exist. the mistakes made were by attempting to be positive and not mistakes by playing it too easy and safely. it used to be said that players are as good as their last game. if thats still the case everyone did enough last night to keep the shirt on saturday.

could be right there. higher up you go most teams play better football and more on the deck. any neutral watching last night would have been hard pushed to say which side was the div.1 side. not a usual smash and grab cup victory by any means. just trying now to avoid looking at london train times to avoid jinxing it.

thats fine but the other day wrexham spent more than that figure for a 30 year old front man from wimbledon who might have done a job for us for 18 months. this is what pools are up against. the club cannot afford to piss money away on players like that however good they were or are.

We were beaten by the better side, we ended the match with almost our strongest side.
Our season is over & we could end up in our lowest ever league position.
I hope you get to the final & enjoy your first trip to Wembley, also i hope you enjoy your visit to our former landlords & make sure you beat them.
I have an extra day in Hartlepool & look forward to a walk to Seaton Carew & visit to 'The Headland'.

thanks for that charlton hope you enjoy yourself. your lot are possibly the only london club i have a soft spot for. remember going down to the valley years ag early for a night match. bought tickets for myself and my lad who was about 7 at the time. was surprised how cheap the kids prices were and saying that got the reply of that we are not in the business to rip fans off especially kids. good luck next season as really your season is over now barring some miracle one way or the other.

Darrell Clark Ritchie Barker
Andy Monkhouse
All under 80k signings.
We should be looking for players like this who wont damage the clubs fragile bank account.
Plus get into the decent out of contract players straight away instead of getting the dregs at the end of the summer window.

The real difference is teams like Bolton and Charlton didn't come to the Vic expecting to get beat. They were open games and Pools are a very good counter-attacking side.

Last night was end to end stuff for 90 minutes and great for the fans. Saturday's fan experience against Stevenage was the tedium of watching Pools try to find a way through two banks of 4 against a bad team that was hoping to avoid defeat - exactly the same as the home games against Oldham and Scunthorpe.

In that type of game teams need players who can create chances by going past their marker. Last season Pools had Oates scoring goals from nothing. Like Burey did early this season! Olomola hasn't scored yet but he's created plenty of chances for others since coming on as a sub against Stevenage. Got to stick with him now.

 Took the words straight out of my mouth. When playing the teams that are eager for a point never mind 3 - without that attacking game changing player we will be stuck like the weekend- Hell we could play Kettering town at the weekend and the performance couldnt be any different, this is football at this level summed up - when playing teams that suit us and want to play football on the deck we make a game of it - Pools had more chances in the final 15 mins of the first half last night than we have had in the last 3 league games id say. The willingness from all especially Fela and Crawds to create and attack has to warrant their shirt on a weekend ! im sick of the lack luster displays we have seen recently last night was almost like having new signings and watching another team. Hendrie impressed aswell - weird how he hasnt been near the bench and we bring in Hull ?

glad to see even more cash coming in - didnt realise the next round is televised so will see incentives from that plus more gate cash. Cup runs like this are magic for us and just what we needed on our first season back in the league. Cant believe we still have 2 alive at this stage.UTFP !

If Crawford hasn't earned his place there is something seriously wrong with GL's selection policy.

Hendrie showed his class last night for me and why he has played at a higher level - give him time in the team and i can see him getting better and being our main CB choice. Same with ZFA - baffled how he isnt in the side more regularly. Be a massive shame if we lost him in the summer due to not playing enough. Same can be said for Hendrie a suppose. Not sure what deals those lads are on.

Spike mentioned in the post presser that he favours 4-3-3 and he may be forced to atleast try it (maybe) funny owld answer he gave but for me he looked pushed in keeping DCs old formation. Has to be something when even chandy is mentioning it to him. got a funny feeling we may start the game or if not at least end the game in that formation on saturday. Get in a better front man than Cullen and it works. Replace Smith with Feaths in that midfield and we will win games !

Meh. Some of this smacks of change for change's sake, Football Manager stuff. Wasn't it you who said a few weeks back that Ogle should be starting ahead of Sterry? Judged on his performances while Sterry was suspended, Ogle is OK but no substitute for the real thing!

Raj was off beam berating Challinor for poor signings in the summer. That's only true to a limited extent. It's a competitive squad everywhere except goalkeeper and up front.
