What on earth is this recruitment guy playing at or does he even exist? Please can someone wake him up. Today Barrow have signed Will Harris from Sunderland the under 23s top scorer a 6ft 2in striker on loan. So much about working hard on it.

Yet again we are left scratching our heads wondering what the F is going on. We are in dire need of a striker but absolutely no word from Pools. Cant help thinking nowt will happen till 30th of January and then we'll sign some 17 yr old from Fleetwood.

To be fair to pools they aren't going to tell us who they are trying to sign.

Maybe Lee doesnt fancy him. He would have seen him when in charge of Boro U 23. Just an opinion a bit like yours that its the head of recruitement fault we not signed him.

Or maybe Sunderland wanted to do what Newcastle did with Cass and put him in a different environment and felt Hartlepool just bit close to home for that That just a thought.

Just because a player in a position that most fans think we need goes to a club in the same division doesnt mean we noy looked at him, maybe even tried to sign him, but lets have dig at someone for not signing him.

We have month to sign someone. Next game is in the FA cup permission to play may not be given to play 65especially with the covid situation, teams wont want players cup tied. -=

I'm sure if we signed him most people would complain about signing another cheap kid on loan. Maybe Lee wants a more experienced forward and is trying to get one in, who knows!!

We had virtually an identikit youngster in Will Goodwin and he's gone back home, without really nibbling at our goal scoring problem.
Sunderland are looking to get more youngsters out but are looking for regular game time for them.
We need a bit more experience, in my opinion, both at the back and up front.
Another Armstrong type, who could get us 15 plus like he did.

Shocking that - exactly what we would have needed. Not exactly a million miles away are we jesus.

Sunderland havnt been the kindest in terms of giving us support over the years with loan players but those they have given us if i remember rightly some have been quality others quite so not:

- Ben Clark (quality)
- Roy O'Donovan (very good)
- Nathan Luscombe (say no more wow)
- Craig Lynch (unknown)
- Ryan Noble (had high hopes for him but was steady away)
- Joel Dixon (unknown)
- Mandron (rubbish)
- Scotty Harrison first time round (decent)
- Mols first loan spell (decent)

need to sort it out

Well going on his record he doesn’t exactly excite me. How many big young lads have we had before and they are not ready for league football. Remember we have just had one from Stoke who wasn’t up to it. Even Charlie Wyke a few years ago wasn’t up to it when at Pools.

surely Spike has seen alot of U23 players this past 2 seasons who possibly could make it at Pools - there will be, like any age level those who are head and shoulders above their age (which usually are a rarity as the likes of Rooney and Mount etc dont just come about all the time). Even Henderson took some time at Sunderland. But then there are those he will have an eye on, good pros for their age maybe just on the cusp of first team. These are the lads i think he knows and will be targeting. or like others have said, its a time served Pro hes waiting on like Armstrong who can come in and hit the ground running - what he did last season was amazing, for us to get that again we need to have alot of luck on our side i think.

I suspect that some people think being 6ft 2in and built like a brick shithouse equates to the perfect goal scoring machine. Oh dear.
Are we now going to have a daily chorus of highlighting players we should have signed signing for someone else and because we don’t sign every name that pops up we’re going to hell in a handcart.

Going back even further, I can remember Jon Parkin from Barnsley who was raw & pretty crap for us but went on to have a decent career & Matt Crooks from Huddersfield who is doing ok at Boro. There must be quite a few others.

The answer of course is "yes" and "yes."

I see Northampton have signed Chanka Zimba from Cardiff. Can't be arsed to look him up but what a great name

It’s a Russian four seat saloon.
Trying to find out information about players at this time of year on the internet is like holding a cup under Niagara Falls for a drink of water, you’re overwhelmed.

thing is he cannot win. never seen the lad play so cannot comment to whether he is one that got away or we have swerved a big bullet.

Lee needs some serious help this transfer window and not one or two players no one else wants. The guy needs to be given some sort of chance.

Guessing by the remarks in the Mail - hes actively trying to bring someone in before the Blackpool game (clearly has someone or players in mind)

well he should have with turnbull and the rest of the coaching staff. add on the contacts and people who he will still know in the game from his playing career. its not as if he is on his own but how much of his hands are being tied anyway. really we all have no clue whatsoever in whats going on.

This has all the feels of the that time we signed like 6 players in one day - Think Laing and Munns etc all arrived same day. Was silent for ages then all of a sudden we had half a dozen new players. Hoping its going to be that type of window. Come next week we have 4 in. Being very optimistic because its friday

He was saying in his pre Blackpool interview that he is interested in Josh Coburn of M'Bro and is waiting on Stoke's decision on Jones.
I got the impression he thought he had Carson but that the goalie opted for div one football.

or a case of carsons feelings for pools are lower than ours are for him. even at the standard we play in or have there are clubs you would never play for again even if you did well for them.

Yes there are people who firmly believe that you should never go back and Carson could be one of them.
On the other hand we could list a load of reasons with the word could in front of them and make a case out for each.
The only positive stance is to wait and see what transpires and then.......................
