It was all tongue in cheek, but to be fair, driving past those turnstiles meant you were nearly there.

The trees to the left of the photo remind me of a rather painful lesson i learned .. Don't try scale the fence near them , pay on the gate or you'll feel a right nob getting caught and dragged round the cricket pitch....well i was still at school

Great ground feethams, what on earth do these clubs think when they move to the edge of the town.

I think the self made mega egotistical owners who do this want to mark the start of a new era, their era ....and need to build a shrine to their utter brilliance.... so a sheet metal, soulless box with all the atmosphere of multi storey car park is knocked up on some bleak site in the middle of god knows where on the edge of town, accessible only to car owners, no pubs, no atmosphere, no point.

A ground in the town centre, the buzz of walking along polam lane, hearing the noise of the crowd, added to it, part of the ground was a bit of a dump but I would still have that to what eventually happened, crazy to think anything on the edge of town for league one or league 2 teams would ever work.

I blame Scunthorpe didn't they start all this off?possibly the most soulless dreadful boring ground ever to be built, least when it was first done you could stand behind the goal, no wonder they want to move. Well over the road anyway.

Yeah, Glanford Park in 1990. Before then the newest football league ground was Roots Hall which was made in the 1950s.

Ironically enough Southend are trying to leave Roots Hall and Scunthorpe have hinted at leaving Glanford! Some new improvements those grounds are!

Loads of taxis to the Highland Laddie then the walkdown for the usual battle on the way to Feethams. The good old days.

The Taylor Report really was an overreaction wasn't it? It's became common opinion now that no football fans were to blame for Hillsborough, and it was simply just really poor planning from the police.

I understand clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham or even Boro desiring bigger all-seater grounds, but did Darlo need the arena? Did Chesterfield need their new ground? Did Chester need the Deva? Notice a trend with them?

These days with technology and the like it'd be easier to track and record things like capacities getting hit and large influxes of people could be spotted on things like CCTV.

Credit to Boston United for building a brand new ground with an actual terrace.

First time I went to Rushden, a night match, I was struck by the crowds noise, a sort of girly squeal, quite surreal...it reminded me of those pictures of thousands of girls screaming after groups in the 60’s and 70’s.

just wonder what real improvements have been made for the home fans at these new grounds. how many darlo, scunny, shrewsbury, walsall, york, reading, millwall, chester and coventry fans wished the club had stayed put with some development of their old ground like halifax and bradford have done. only two places have for me been improved by a move. northampton and donny rovers where belle vue was really beyond redemption but still had a better atmosphere and burgers than the keepmoat.
