Blackpool fans are up in arms because our FA Cup 3rd Round cup tie with them on January 8th has been brought forward to a 12.30 kick off.

The reason? The game has been selected for live overseas broadcast, but it WON'T be live for anyone hoping to watch it in the UK (unless they're actually at the game).

The same goes for Harrogate's tie at Luton (which gives them the perfect excuse not to have an away following at Luton at all).

Don't know whether it's for the same reason, but Harrogate have also announced that their home L2 match with Pools on March 5th has been brought forward from a 3 o'clock to a 12.30 kick off.

Obviously they don’t want the local Betty’s besieged by Poolies at peak serving time.

Blackledge/Sage/Pam or whoever must be delighted with our cup run.

Not sure if it's the case this time round, but the early 2020 FA Cup tie against Oxford United was televised in North America on ESPN I think. It had no commentary and from what i could gather, ESPN essentially had US TV rights to every game in that round. I watched it all on a streaming site, was pretty decent camera quality as well.

The first and probably only time I'll ever use a dodgy streaming site for a Pools game!

yes, but it will be lessened by those who cannot make a stupid kick off time with a lower gate than a 3pm KO would be. mind you blackpool is only 3 hours drive from hartlepool so its hardly getting up at the middle of the night for them.

Back in the day me Old Montego got to Blackpool in 2 hrs 15 mins.
But about 2 hrs 30 mins on way back due to that steep bank south of Kirby Stephen.
Cant see the ko time affecting the crowd much.
6000 no probs.
UTP.

15 minutes to get up that bank....was it powered by real horses? A Montego chariot

some still work saturday mornings and i imagine others being involved with saturday morning kids football making things tite of em. its a good excuse to use anyway if you were not bothered by the game in the first place. the KO time made my decision up for me anyway as i was 50/50 wether i,d go or not.

Yes, but football is still a working class game, below the Premiershit at least, and some fans don't have a car. And plenty of those who do don't fancy being the designated driver on a matchday

It's the messing up of public transport options that is hacking off Blackpool fans - as it would Poolies if Blackpool's ball had been drawn first.

We should get 6000 no matter what time kick off is.

The Blackpool fans would need to get the 7.24am from Blackpool North to arrive in Hartlepool for 12 noon.£84.30 return cost. Changing at Manchester and Thornaby.
Hardly ideal for the non car owners.

If it was 12.30 in Blackpool we would have 1500 plus their, no excuse for Blackpool not to sell 1000.

Very true - a club as big as Blackpool should have a fair few coaches organised for those who dont/cant drive.

will be a packed fixture regardless! especially as it may be a debut for a new player or 2 .

Over the years Blackpool have always been one of the few clubs to bring reasonable numbers.

Will the game go ahead with this predicted tidal wave of Omicron.
Brentford v Man Utd postponed tonite.
Could be a lot of disappointed fans all over the cou try who have already payed for their tickets n travel arrangements this festive period.
Hopefully not to many postponements with the Jabs getting ramped up.

It's a good question. It seems like all bets are off after Christmas with a full lockdown very much on the cards. :(

back in the good old days of steam there could have been a direct train to west hartlepool or they would have put a fans special on. a non car owner even on their own could hire one. put the fuel in and still have change from the train fare if they have a licence.

Yes the good old days of a locomotive pulling a dozen carriages with corridors and compartments. Surely even now this could be used in certain circumstances.

compartments would be ideal in the covid world. different ones to be used depending on your vaccination status.
