According to Millwall manager Gary Rowett:

Winger Tyler Burey could be set to rejoin up with Hartlepool United next week. The winger, 20, had made an impressive start for the League Two side – scoring in three successive matches – before suffering a major hamstring injury at the beginning of September.

“He has trained well for the best part of last week and we want him to train this week and play a part in a game on Friday for our U23s against Cardiff,” said Rowett. “If he gets through 45 minutes well then we’ll send him back to Hartlepool in the hope he can go and impact their season.

“He’s been out a long time and it was a serious injury. We don’t want to just send him back for two or three days and be irresponsible. We want to give him part of a game and be a little more confident that he’s fit.”

Fingers crossed he sails through their U23 game. He's been a massive miss for us.

Deffo missed him.
Hopefully Millwall loan him to us for the rest of the season.

Fingers crossed.
We could do with a few more like him in the new year. I wonder if he might talk a couple of his mates into joining him.
He must be impressed by the atmosphere and the way our fans have taken to him.

we need him and if he has been treat right i,m sure millwall would be keen to send others to us in the future. he is only here to learn, improve and get some game time. if he and others do not get that its pointless them being here.

Graeme Lee's long experience in the Middlesbrough U-23 set up should be a big advantage in getting the right type of Academy players in on loan. He knows a load of current U-23 coaches personally and understands what they're looking for from a good loan placement.

Even if he comes on as an impact sub throughout the next 4 games id be happy - could do with a fully fit version of him for the cup ties too.

i think Millwall may want us to keep him for the season seen as he started the games and got valuable game time and goals. Be confident if we kept him all season a reckon hes got at least 10 goals in him even with whats left of our season.

agree. seems pointless after missing all the football he has is for them to recall him to send him somewhere else where he might not fit to get little game time.

The injury probably improved our chances of getting him for the season.

Crawford, Burey and Grey could do damage running at defences.

.Totally agree, their introduction made a big impact. I'd bet a pound to a bit of pigeon shit that it was Sweeney's idea.

None of those 3 are good enough.

How is Cullen not a 90 minute man yet!

He’s been in the team now for a good 2 month almost and is training..he’s not exactly ancient and naturally should be building match fitness. Can’t see him suddenly getting 90 min fit if he can’t do it now

I think Lee is still settling with what and who he has to work with - credit to the subs made last night and i can only think it may have been Sweens yes with that idea.

Rochdale are a team btw and credit to them they tore us a new one for most the game - had that been an away fixture we would have been beat.

Killip made a few good saves and was unlucky to not get down quicker for their goal , but it was a propa finish by a good player.

Im impressed with Mols and Cullen upfront - there is moments from them both. Should Burey come back into the side id like to see him play as partner to them both.

Culls goal was class and only a propa striker can make anything of it from that angle. Hopefully we get 90 mins out of him soon.

As for the others - we are deffo short of a match winning striker on the bench. Goodwin i wont miss - Fondop say no more - Fela ill give him till the end of the season but hoping hes not on anything longer. thankful we have Grey whos getting more match sharp as the weeks progress. Then there is Cook ? is he out for the season ? probs wont see him in a pools shirt again ?

Just out of interest re Cullen getting pulled around 70mins it was the same with Oates and still is at Mansfield.

I always got the impression that Oates ran until he could run no more. He didn't appear to pace himself but it's a squad game now so after Oates had ran people ragged fresh legs can take advantage. Sometimes fresh legs are all that's needed.

spot on. just imagine that you are a defender who has been chasing around after any player for 70 minutes and you see the board going up and you have got rid of your problem. then a player of similar ability replaces him and your equally tiring legs will feal tireder. same with a big lad who you have battled in the air with and another big unit comes on.

I agree with your points on Oates but I still believe a young fit player should be able to last 90mins. Let’s remember it’s virtually every game even now at Mansfield. Don’t get me wrong I’d still have him back playing like last season but I still wonder if that’s his level, he’s not pulling up any roots at Mansfield.

I think Oates would have been alot better under our regime playing at this level had he stayed. He would of played up top off Cullen and i think both would have worked brill together. Again dont be shocked to see Stockport come in for him. He is an absolute nuisance when used as a super sub and would fit the stockport mould perfectly. Playing off the likes of Quigley or Madden he would bang for fun.

Wonder if Burey will feature for us over the festive period - be nice to have him and Grey as subs to bring on against the likes of Mansfield or Colchester (specially these as they are doing terrible)

Just playing Devils Advocate but Oates is now 27 and has only had one decent season and has yet to do it in league football.

You have a point. His goals per game record for Mansfield this season isn't as good as Mark Cullen's for Pools. Wonder if the penny has dropped yet that he should have stayed at the Vic?

There's always Stockport.

Burey was subbed after 45 minutes of Millwall's U23 game against Cardiff this afternoon like their manager said he would be.

So if there is no adverse reaction we could have him back as early as next week.
Nice Christmas present that would be.

Glad you made that point, prior to last season he was stop start. Which begs the question maybe he was in the right place with the right people, but before anyone says we should have hung onto him, I suspect the opportunity to move to league football with a two year contract was cut and dried long before our late run to victory even started and perhaps didn’t fancy another season down in Stopcock Country.
