So sad, fantastic player cool as a cucumber and not a bad bone in his body, probably the best player to wear a Pools shirt. R.I.P. Ray, Legend.

RIP Ray. Wonderful player for Liverpool and England. When he came to Pools he was still in his early 30s and Poolies had high expectations. We'll never know what he could have contributed if fully fit because it turned out he was already suffering from the onset of Parkinson's Disease.

Very sad. Honoured to have sen him play for Pools. RIP Ray Kennedy.

Think about it....

After winning the league and cup double with
Arsenal, Kennedy went on to become an integral member of Bob Paisley's all-conquering Liverpool, making 393 appearances and scoring 72 goals, winning five First Division titles, three European Cups, the Uefa Cup and League Cup before moving to Swansea City in 1982.

Fantastic player - unfortunately far too good for the rest of our squad when he played for us. Was always thinking about 10 seconds ahead of everyone else. I may be mistaken, but I believe he had a clause written into his contract which said he had first use of the team bath !

When the name Ray Kenedy pops up that 30 yard shot that hit the post always comes to mind.
RIP.

you would think an acknowledgement from the club of his passing might just be merited ???....17 caps for england.....including pools played for only 4 league clubs.....spot the odd one out below ....but judging by our clubs official twitter feed @Official_HUFC players birthdays are considered more important by our media team....just never gets any better does it...

Agree with you Poolie1. When the late great Ernie Phythian died I don't remember the club mentioning him. If I am wrong I apologise here and now. To us older lovers of pain he was a Pools icon of the 60s. It seems very selective. Don't mind being shot down in anger as debate on here is always healthy and hopefully productive.

Have got to agree with Poolie1, very slow acknowledging the passing of Ray Kennedy not only a great player and a gentleman by all accounts but was a Pools player at the end of his career. He was also an inspiration to all the brave way he dealt with a terrible illness. Yet we were quick to respond to the death of Marvin Morgan who was only a short term loan player. Please wake up media department.

To be fair regarding the acknowledgement, Ray Kennedy played for us nearly 40 years ago, if it hadn’t been posted on here I would never have known about his passing.
So, how many people in working in the club old enough to have known of the former England star would have known he actually played for Pools? Obviously long term fans would, but how many fans who remember Terry Bell can remember players from the 1920’s.....? It’s a generational thing, we tend to think we all share the same knowledge, we don’t.
Just to highlight the point, when one of my sons told me of Marvin Morgan’s death I said “Who?” and I really was none the wiser sad to say.
