I suspect the fact an ex player turns up at an away match is a bit of a tenuous link. However, he is first team coach at Celtic.

he would be among a good number of others who will turn up at all games across the country. its just that you do not recognise who they are. remember going to a reserve match in the 80,s at huddersfield as a mate of mine was playing for the opposition. there must have been as many scouts there as fans plus frank worthington.

As mad as its sounding. Alot of talk yesterday was still Woodgate becoming our manager. I honestly dont think he would do any better than Sweens. He contacts are only going to be Boro realistically and the few lads that would make any difference for us from their academy are now fringe players on the first teams radar so no chance of grabbing them on loan. His Real madrid connections are as good as dead or retired and he was hardly Raul when he was there was he ? Just another Matty Bates. Shite

Woodgate

He's won around a third of his games as a manager (which were Boro and Bournemouth and have a bit of cash). I really doubt his ability to work with the pools players and our budget.

I could be wrong and I'll get behind whoever becomes manager.

I'd take Phil Brown ahead of Woodgate, at least he knows these leagues.

We moved away from the Boro cheap options and had success, let's not go back to all that again, recipe for disaster.

Gavin Strachan might actually be a lucky guess from Club Spokesman - if you name enough names, eventually you may get a contender!

First team coach at Celtic may just help.

Strachan for me would be a welcome. Previous history with the club. Was a decent player and will have some heart coming from the likes of Celtic. Probs wont take any prisoners either going off some of his interviews ive just watched. Id also welcome some of the Celtic youth players on loan should he decide to ask some favours from his potential old employers. He also will have more contacts in the game from his dad too which might help. Who knows. Woodgate would be a disaster as stated

would strachan take what would presumably be a huge wage cut to leave Celtic for the money we have available ?...money isnt everything i know..... unless you are the snake himself of course...but if strachan is willing to do so for his first management job as number one .....i think we could do a lot lot worse....and the added positives are that he knows the club and played alongside sweens at cardiff...always liked him as a player just lacked a bit of pace....mickey nelson certainly speaks highly of him....

if its woodgate........ffs....with his "baggage" .... god help us......i get a sinking feeling.....were going down captain.....

Always thought Gavin Strachan was a decent player for us. Didn't he play on with a broken leg in one game ? Could do with some of that toughness in the current squad !

If it’s Woodgate...... better start blowing up the life jackets and practicing lifeboat drill.

I doubt he's on mega bucks, probably more than our manager would get but I doubt it's massive.

Personally I'd be amazed if it was Woodgate given that he's only ever managed at Championship level. He struggled at Middlesbrough, but at Bournemouth last season he got them to the play-offs, winning 13 games out of 23 played, losing 3-2 on aggregate to Brentford.

I'm sure Pools couldn't afford him even if he was daft enough to fancy managing in League 2 when he should be looking at top half of League 1 as a minimum.

Strachan on the other hand might be within reach.

seems to be like the press state who next manager is with plenty of names then when one of them right , they have their headline which reads "we told you first" was always the case with where players were going until the transfer windows came in. Now they cant do that they just pick on a manager whose team going through a bad patch, I give you Ole

and if a miracle did occur and he did well at pools he,d be off quicker than someone in whacky races.

Thats our biggest problem really isnt it - something unfortunately football has become. Known our luck, Woodgate would come in. get us into the Playoffs and then bugger off to Wrexham. Its probably making sense to hire someone who is local - pay him correctly and give him time to mould a team and get the players utmost respect, something in the mould of Cooper please. But this is Pools and nothing is ever easy or straight forwards.

Its clear the lads heads are down after somehow getting beat off one of the worst footballing sides we have played this season. Lets be honest, we played some decent stuff and should have scored 2/3 times in that game. Worst thing about it, it wasnt even their strongest team. Not sure how they are sitting where they are in the League. Just shows how poor League 2 actually is at the minute. Alot of teams in this League would struggle in the NL. Its not going to be that much hard work should we get a fully fit squad to stay up this season if the right manager comes in.... and we get shot of Kilip and Fondop

Whoever does go down this season then they,ll struggle next and that includes pools. Think the magic 50 points will not be needed where 40 could do it this season. Anyone below the dire managerless oldham are doomed.

We lost because our Tactics were shite, utter shite.
We were playing a team out of form and missing 3-4 regulars and the back room staff would have been happy to take a point from the game.

Hows that for not believeing in or trusting your players.

yeh i wasnt happy that we thought going there for a point would do. They played really bad, they will be absolutely buzzing that an out of form manager less pools came right when they where struggling themselves to build that confidence back and gain 3 points out of it. Something needs to change after these Cup games because right now they are just a nuisance bunch of games in the way which potentially knackers first team players and could cause us unnecessary injuries. Give Fondop and Goodwin a run out for all its worth in both games

rest as many as possible and certainly anyone carrying a knock to get everyone fresh for next tuesday night. really could not give a flying one about sheff.wed and lincoln games. pools are not going to win either competitions. just allow lincoln to do a port vale even if it costs us playing chelsea reserves in round 3 at home.

Big role to leave if im honest just cant see it. May even be getting paid more than we could offer as manager. Great for his career though should he keep us in the league and swiftly establish us in this league for a push towards L1

If you intend to get on, you have to jump into the deep end and prove yourself sometime.

I imagine he would be a breath of fresh air - hes coming from lets say a Big club with some good gained experience aswell from his time under Ferguson.

fingers crossed im warming to this one tbh

Strachan was part of the club during the great Cooper era - can you imagine what he learnt and wouldn't it be magic if he returned us to the culture of those happy days?
