Going for a repeat of the 2003/4 season-ending fixture that saw us both into the play-offs at Port Vale's expense...

1-1

sweens forced to adopt his "damage limitation" tactical formation again.....sadly same result ....3-1....at least x2 conceded from crosses into our box.

Sterry suspended, I am guessing Holohan is a doubt. Highly unlikely to get a result at Swindon who are playing well at the moment. Just a question of if we can keep the score respectable. I think 3-0 is a likely outcome.

The game is being live streamed:

https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/matc ... 23-nov-21/

Swindon are going to score anything between 1 and 6 according to predictions so far. I'll be watching from the start; can't promise I'll be there at the finish if the lads don't make a game of it.

Injuries.
Suspensions.
Goalkeeper problems.
No manager.
Probably a home win but Pools are always unpredictable.

this has an unpredictable win written all over it. As stated, our best player suspended, Holohan a doubt. Dodgy keeper and no manager. Pools sneak a 1-0. Super Marky Cullen again.

but if im being realistic, 2-0 both from crosses into the box. The worry starts to set in come tomorrow morning !

No
Linesmans arse fell out.
How can a rebound off keeper take that long to make that decision.
Expecting the worst now.

Ridiculously late offside decision.

Pools are in this but Swindon obviously think they'll get a goal from a corner sooner or later!

Need more from the likes of Ferguson and Daly when we're going forward.

Yes it was clearly offsite when Feth took the shot. No idea why it took so long to sort out.

Their 2nd goal was so soft, v poor defending. Plus will Fela or Fondop ever score! I don't think so, so why do we take Cullen off when he has been scoring. Doh!

That Fela chance had Armstrong written all over it.

Players showing their disdain towards Fondop whose fall on the ball about summed it up.

Feaths, Crawford and Molyneux all had good games. Starting to get a bit worried now though…

We need 2 cf’s another midfielder, a defender I’d say.

Concede far too easily, and don't take enough of the chances we create, rock hard defender and a goal poacher a must in the January sales. Played well tonight though, and 3-1 not a true reflection of the game, unlucky lads.

Smith, fela, fondop, lawlor … just bizarre signings in the scheme of what they’ve given us / look what they’ll end up giving us for the rest of the season.

Played decent in parts - we move it well when we’re on it.

Best I’ve seen Crawford play.

Still ten points above bottom two. I would snatch the hands off anyone who offered that on Jan 1st.

Agree but it is time Featherstone had a rest he is so off the pace and the least said about Fondop the better

It is hard to believe Fondop was on the books of a Championship club last season or have I got confused somehow? Wouldn't be the first time. I think Fela and Fondop got signed when all other options had been exhausted and we were facing the prospect of the season starting with Goodwin and (injured at the time) Cullen as our only out and out strikers. I hope Burey is nearing fitness cos we sure as hell need him.

Just finished listen to sweeney, sounds like he has had enough, and clearly not strong enough to be a manager, and clearly lost on what to do, interesting he doesn’t say when asked about manager coming in, he all so talks about the fans, club demanding a new manager, he comes across as if to say, please hurry up and appoint a a manger, get me out of here

Agree, but we could do with someone to start improving and building the character of the squad we’ve got, we have no other option for the short term.

could be right there. was much easier for him last time he came in as pools were crap back then. much harder to improve a decent side.

panic signings due to lack of time and a lot of players ready to move by the time we won at bristol. that includes a couple of ours. at least as someone has stated we have that 10 point cushion on the bottom two. then its vale on saturday whose form is as bad as pools. defeat at oldham and a home defeat to walsall. pools took 4 points off them.

Featherstone off the pace??? He was probably Pools' best player last night. The problem is Swindon had at least 3 who were better than him. Pools aren't at the races against the best sides in the division.

Its not the odd shock result against the top sides that will make pools or any club safe. Its how they do against the sides around them and lower down that really matter. Thats were the 6 pointer saying comes in. Scunthorpe and rochdale home games are far more important than ones against forest green and another top side.

He is frustrated by the fact his hands are tied. He wants to do better and with the right squad balance I'm sure he would do better. This transfer window malarkey is all very well for clubs that can afford massive squads but when thirty players is a luxury, injuries, suspensions, carrying knocks and loss of form can be devastating. It's not so long ago that Chelsea had 33 players out on loan. At our level 33 players is massive. Everton's under 21 squad contains players with shirt numbers in the eighties.
If lower clubs, say in the bottom two divisions, just had the loan restrictions slackened outside of the transfer windows, that could be a massive help, as well as getting more players some game time and experience.

the transfer window was not brought in for pools and division 1 and 2 clubs in the first place. they just had to end up following the big boys. football is called an industry but in which other industry are firms only allowed to recruit staff in certain periods of the year.

The ability to grind out a result is much derided by some, but it can save your league status come season’s end.

That being the case can't they just unfollow the big boys and reject it ???
