They should just play the Benny Hill music every time another ‘follower’ leaves the ground heading towards Stopcock Bounty.

no f..king problem at all...if they want to leave then they can go...we wont even ask they work their contractual notice....of course we will have to replace them all.....somehow.....mmmm....still that's easy aint it ?...might be a touch disruptive ?....maybe ?... only a few months into the season and important games coming up as well...nah... sure the club can just slot people in no bother at the drop of a hat...or sweens can just manage completely on his own for a few months....just juggle a few more balls....yeah... we'll manage somehow...but please no more BS about leaving....oh....and lets hear you say "whats the problem they left clubs to come here" when our players are being tapped by the snake as well...ffs ...banghead

I don’t like people using the club as a glorified waiting room. Turn up, get a contract, get a whistle ....gone.

We have just got to accept that HUFC is merely a stepping stone for ambitious staff and players.

Agree 100%. I’m just pissed right off with this walking in the front door and out the back door after just arriving.

His appointment was announced on the club's website on October 9th.

I don't really get all this....it's absolutely nothing unusual. It's nothing against us whatsoever.

Managers have preferred staff to work with, if the manager goes the backroom staff follow.

Happens ALL the time.

Nothing to get upset or alarmed about. If it was Sweeney who was going I'd definitely be surprised, anyone else? Nah.

If we appoint a manager currently managing another club I'd expect some of his backroom staff to follow.

There is no news here, move along.

You can move along if you wish......I have a different take. I fully expected the ‘wagon to follow the horse’, no surprise there whatsoever, however, I find it hard to accept people who come, sign a contract then head ‘home’ when ‘his master’s voice’ beckons within weeks.
Did he come for work experience...I suspect not.

Surely if Hill was under contract like Challinor compensation should be coming?

His dad was manager (not a good one) and JS was one of the worst players to ever pull on a County shirt. Both had very short lived associations with us.

He'll only be back if DC wants him, not because of any legendary status as a player.

We are in agreement, this has baffled me too. If a contract was involved, they ain’t worth a penny. Don’t get me wrong, if they want out, get rid, but why bother having a contract....?

For once Snowy we agree and as a contract was signed we should get something or as you say what is the point of giving them out. If they come in for any of our players Raj should think of a figure and double it. A more sensible thing would be to extend contracts of our better players and not let them run down as has happened in the past.

I reckon we should get IZAL to sponsor the paper the contracts are written on, because they seem to wipe their arses on them.

Players aside, what if all other staff from managers down just worked for a salary as an employee, just like the rest of us and live from month to month as contracts appear to be worthless, then it would be a true level playing field.
Never happen, but nice thought.

Wasted energy to think you can do anything about it. It's not about rolling over, it's about what can be done? It's no different to a key member of staff leaving a job. The company doesn't fold, it brings in a replacement.

If Sterry and Ferguson leave we get paid unless they're out of contract - that's football, that's exactly how it's always worked, that's not unfair. Can clubs keep managers and players if they want out? Possibly, depends on the contract. Would you want that kind of atmosphere at your club? Fuck, no. If someone is determined to leave, they need to go or they spread poison throughout the club.

Kick and scream as much as you like, be angry as much as you like, it changes nothing...other than yourself, in a bad way - does Challinor care of you're upset? Probably not very much, no. Don't waste your time and energy.

Was I gutted when Challinor left? Yes. Completely. Best manager we've had in donkey's years. Can I do anything about it? No. So how to deal with it? Sulk for a bit then move on. Why? Because me shouting and bawling only causes my blood pressure to go up and changes fuck all. Challinor has gone. Hill has gone, others may also leave. Hartlepool United doesn't equal Dave Challinor and his merry men. Players/managers/owners come and go, we do our best to get the best we can given our budget/standing/geographical location, we can't do more than that. Sometimes we'll get it right and sometimes we won't.

We have no option but to move on and do our best to get the best possible replacement we can.

That's the nature of the beast though both in and out of football. Football is actually much better than the outside world.

You can leave a job any day you wish, they can put in your contract that you have to give notice, in reality you can fuck off and never go back - lose a bit of cash perhaps but if you're determined you can do that.

Footballers can't just say, 'fuck this, I hate this club, I want to go play for Wankers United so I'm gonna do just that.' Their contract stops them doing this. They either have to be bought or wait for it to end, they can't just fuck off and play elsewhere.

I understand the sentiment but it's down to the writer of the contract to include a compensation clause if they want to leave before its end and who's to say we haven't had compo for both Challinor and Hill? Likewise, the employee usually makes sure there's a clause that their contract has to be paid up if they get the boot.

As I said before, I didn't want Challinor or anyone else to leave, I completely trusted him to get it right for us even despite our shocking away record this season so was just as distraught as anyone else that he's jumped ship but that's football.

I admire your relaxed attitude to events, a sort of acceptance of the inevitable.
But all people aren’t that laid back by what they perceive as a rum deal or behaviour.
Of course we can’t change a damn thing, but we all have different opinions and if some people want to fume over events that’s their choice and it’s equally valid.

Yeah, fair enough.

I don't enjoy feeling wound up and angry so I try to find reasons not to be. It's a bit different during a game though lol ;)

I posted when people were complaining about Raj not getting DC to sign a contract, in which I said contracts for managers are a waste except you can get compensation. To me it was obvious after Dc was bookies favourite for the Tranmere and Wrexham jobs he would walk if he got a decent offer from a north west club.

We just need to put some clear blue water between us as a club and recent events. Personally I’d rather just forget now and look forward to better days.

I'm with you 100% on this. It really is time to turn the page. Screw Stockport. They're still in the National League and our ex-manager will have his work cut out to change that. Hope we're not going to continue to obsess on the Bunker about every Challinor result the way folk did about County's cup win . Christ, what would it have been like if Pools had lost at Wycombe instead of winning away (to the side currently fourth in League One)? I don't understand all the angst about Clint Hill either. He didn't join Pools on a long term contract, it was a temporary role and Tony Sweeney went out of his way to thank him for his contribution and professionalism in the brief time he was with us.

Speculation about this player or that player going to join Challinor is also a waste of nervous energy. Jamie Sterry is on record as saying he wouldn't have stayed at Pools if we hadn't won promotion because he really didn't enjoy the standard of football at NL level. It's a nailed on certainty that he'll move on from Pools sooner or later - but to join a club in a higher division than League 2. A Ferguson or a Featherstone probably would be tempted by a really good offer from non-league - if Stockport are willing to pay a decent transfer fee no doubt Raj will look at it.

I’m hoping that Stockport have a great season, get to the play off final, but have three good goals chalked off by the ref and then lose on penners. It’s a funny old game.

I have no problem with any other club casting covetous eyes over any of our players or management, in fact I like to see it because it means we have good players and coaching staff.
Obviously I would like to keep these people and build around them.
However I am a fan of Hartlepool United and only care about my club, whereas most playing staff aren't.
I want the club to perform at the highest level commensurate with our means of doing so but I accept that players have similar ambitions for themselves.
So as long as we are compensated satisfactorily by the transfer then I'm fine with that but I want everything above board and within the rules.
Coaches or players who go behind the club's back to negotiate moves should be kicked out of the game or at least severely punished, like IF a manager under contract was approached illegally or IF he was actively in contact with other clubs, then the penalty for him should be at least a ten year complete ban from football and the club(s) relegated at least four divisions. Make it not worth the risk and watch that behaviour dwindle.

Some good ideas for trying to instil some kind of integrity into the game. I wonder why this kind of thing is not implemented?

Chairman of poor football club: "Your approach to our manager is illegal and I shall be reporting it to the FA"
Chairman of rich club: "Yeah sorry about that." (places another wad of cash on the table)
Chairman of poor football club: "Apology accepted".

You are obviously dead right, Sir.

BUT the reason you are obviously dead right is because rules are made to give the impression of some kind of order then a blind eye is cast over them, with the sigh "ah well that's football and that's how it goes"
When Sunderland were known as the Bank Of England club and were found guilty of paying players in breach of the wage cap the chairman was banned for life from football.

I think it’s time to bury the whole Challinor/ Stockport thing.
Challinor is about to face his biggest test, admittedly well financed, but that also brings it’s pressure too.
Stockport seem to be start believing they’re a ‘big’ club, we’ll see eh? But it’s a bit hard to swallow when they’ve spent most of their time with us ‘feeding on the bottom’.
Time will tell.

errrr.....i'm not finished ....just yet...listen to the words that raj uses in his interview ....about "stories" he had heard that the king was talking to other clubs when under contract....notice how he says he believed them "rightly or wrongly"...and the "two people" involved "havent done themselves any favours" ...not accidental words put together without thought or advice...our club has been well and truly shafted here...but who cares ?.....some on here are more interested in the malicious stirring of shit about fabricated "toxic undercurrents"....but that's life ain't it.....finished ... :angry-chillpill:

its far easier a job for challinor or any other manager who replaces a bad manager. even we looked better with bates after jones went. its going to be harder for the new pools one as there will be bound to be comparisons with him and challinor.

For once Snowy we agree and as a contract was signed we should get something or as you say what is the point of giving them out. If they come in for any of our players Raj should think of a figure and double it. A more sensible thing would be to extend contracts of our better players and not let them run down as has happened in the past.

if they did come in for any pools player then that player should be allowed to leave with a sensible transfer fee on his head. no point having any player on the books who actually have their head turned by a bag of cash and a stupid transfer fee is put on them. we do not want players who put in a non performance like yesterday being stuck seeing their contracts out playing like that every game.

well only if fans think that was all he did in his time at pools. what good he did do seems to get lost as each day passes.

Challinor got out at the right time before the really tough fixtures started. It can soon go pear shaped at Stockport he is only ever 2 or 3 dodgy results from being under severe pressure, here it would of been 10 to 15 games.
