Leaving the wind-up to one side, the other thing that jumps out from Andy Woodman's cv is that in his entire career in football he's never been based further up our way than Northamptonshire.

Pools couldn't get that Scouser to cross the Pennines permanently, so on the face of things Woodman moving so far out of his comfort zone could be a bit of a disadvantage

Do you mean apart from the 5 years he spent at Newcastle as goalkeeper coach?

Sometimes it’s harder get someone from closer to home (relatively speaking) than someone down South.
Anyway, I’m never sure about keepers as managers, illogical I suppose, but that’s me.

chris turner...some of the best years we've had 1999-2002...brought in players like humphreys... westwood ..mark tinkler and eiffion ...excellent players...with IOR started the clubs upward trajectory which ultimately led to cardiff....often wonder what would have happened if he hadnt left for wednesday...his second spell best forgotten....the magic had gone...

Strangely absent from the Wiki CV cut and pasted above by Legend of Rinkender, but I agree, that could make a difference

He famously had an 8 year contract at Newcastle as goalkeeping coach. His son, Freddie, is also a current goalkeeper there.

Breaking news. Statement from Bromley - no approach has been made and rumours are unsubstantiated.

Totally contradicted by this article in the Northern Echo, which says that all that remains to be settled in a compensation package for Bromley:

"Hartlepool United has exclusively told BBC Radio Tees Sport they have NOT made an approach to Bromley regarding Andy Woodman.

The club also confirm that no approach was made to Woodman individually, and the club have NO intention of making him the next #Pools boss."

Bizarrely, all sites suspended betting on the next Hartlepool manager. With the exception of SkyBet who have Andy Woodman 1/20.

They’ve stopped the betting on him at Wonky Billy’s Turf Accountants.

Other classic items in the Echo.....

1 Titanic not sunk, just a delayed arrival due to weather conditions.
2 First man on moon is Neil Armstrong from the US and not Neil Armstrong from Usk Street Darlington.
3 Pyramids originated from Darlington, local builder claims.
4 Glenn Miller seen in mysterious top secret hangar at Teesside Airport.

If it's Phil Brown the tanning salon's in Hartlepool will be rubbing their hands with glee! How else would he maintain that perma-tan in the north east?

Seriously hope you get someone better than him though, think he's a busted flush nowaday's. Woodman looking favourite & he's built a good solid side at Bromley but still relatively inexperienced as a manager, it would be a big step up for him?

Rumour has it he doesn’t need to use tanning salons ever again after being tattooed all over in ‘Orange Shimmer’ ink at Terry Plywood’s tattoo parlour.
