Let's hope the D.C thing has been put to bed and the players are fully focused. Let's show him what he is going to miss.

Pools 1 Wycombe 1 Fondop silences his critics with an 80 yard strike into top corner. (Corner of where Allen?)

Heart says Pools 2-1 but head say Wycombe will tear us a new one. I know the cup is a great leveller etc but they are near the top of League One for a reason and I was at the Orient game and saw how Liddle and co coped with a big strong number 9 who was good in the air. I believe Wycombe have a lad called Akinfenwy (spelling probably wrong) who is good in the air. Anyway as always, hope springs eternal and fingers crossed.

My head says that we are fucked.

But then it said the same thing against Crystal Palace in 1978.

2-1 to Pools, and Bob Newton gets his driving licence back...

As everyone has to buy a ticket and it’s only FAC round 1 I will be surprised if we have much more than 4,000.

Over 6,000 is delusional !!

Good point Northumberland and Ozzy Saltburn - not volunteering to try and kidnap The Beast of Wycombe aka Adeybayo Akinfenwa who makes big Marlon Harewood and Barry Hayles look like Mr Punyverse. Michael Nelson and John Gill when we need them?

suspect it will all depend on our defence of our six yard box.....where we are frequently vulnerable ... expect heavy incoming high balls in there from the opposition ...have we the keeper and centre backs to deal with it on the day......???

2-2

Not a bad crowd for FAC round 1 and we went toe to toe with a top League 1 club.

Unfortunately we are away in the replay!

Sounds like we gave them a good game and showed we don't need Challinor to play well at home. What a shame we didnt quite get over the line.

The penalty decision looks like it was given by the linesman who's 50 yards away with the worst view in the whole ground. The keeper should have stayed down and played dead!

Think it was a great performance after getting over the initial difficult first 10…but Mitchell is not a good keeper in slightest…need killip back urgently

I think Mitchell dominates his box fantastically well, unfortunately he does seem a bit rash. Not seen the pen back but I'm not sure how the referee can give that on the opinion of a lino standing bloody miles away. Ref obviously wasn't sure so I don't know how they can give it, he had a nightmare today Mr Drysdale. Thought we played really well and they were lucky to get away with a draw, replay will be very difficult especially with our away form.

I expect someone will correct me if I am wrong but I dont think we have ever kept a clean sheet when Mitchell has played. Mitchell is very ordinary in my opinion. I am not sure if "rash" is the right word, I think he tends to panic.

Haven't seen any replays as yet but apparently Liddle was denied a stone wall pen right at the end.

We were by far the better team for the majority of the game. I personally thought Mitchell commanded his area well and came for a couple of crosses that Killip may have flapped at. Didn’t see the pen incident really despite being in a very similar position to the man who awarded it. Also thought we were denied a clear Pen toward the end.

All in all a great performance and let’s hope we can do the same in the replay.

We performed very well and definitely deserved the win.

Replay will be very very difficult, possibly most difficult game of season but players definitely shown no effects from manager leaving

I think that Mr Sweeney is showing that he has been a major influence in recent seasons. Probably a bit more than he has been given credit for.
Why Challinor never made him assistant manager has puzzled me but now it is becoming clearer. I reckon he was wary of Tony stealing his limelight.

If Wycombe unleash the beast it will be even more difficult. He is 39 now so they play him sparingly but if they need to polish us off I wouldn't be surprised to see him at some point in the game unless he gets kidnapped.

Don't worry Ozzy, my dossier on his coming and goings is intensive, it will be arranged.

Remember when I said Harrogate had a poor following? Literally about 100 away fans, mostly stood in silence, and they want to play in the championship..

Something is seriously, seriously wrong with football and FFP (or lack thereof)

To be fair, Betty’s was doing a two for one offer on toasted tea cakes yesterday afternoon. Understandable such a dilemma would affect their numbers.

The beast might get indigestion, heartburn, after being sent some pies, and a hamper to arrive 24 hours before replay.

well the facts are that our improvement on the pitch started with sweeney and challinor just carried it on. the main thing was that he was allowed to stay with the club and he has got unfinished business at the vic if he wants it or gets the opportunity.

How did we not win that game? By far the better team, they caused us less problems than most non league teams have done over the last 3 years. Roll on Friday we really need a win keep the home form going.

This current squad of players, having shown that they can hold there own against a top team from a higher division, must now believe that they truly belong in the EFL and any thoughts of falling back into the NL because of losing DC should be dismissed.
I agree with Accrington fan that Friday's game is now the priority and a victory in front of a big crowd will prove that DC's leaving was a minor blip on the club's impressive record of improvement. C'mon the Pools!

Aren't they introducing it next season which is why it's so important to get promoted this season.

Or better still last season .

yes, but it does not include the current players clubs have on contract. could be the reason the rich ones are signing players on long contracts to get round it. think up any system and clubs will quickly find a loophole in it to exploit.
