I have no doubt that we will never know the financial figures either in Challinor's contract at Stockport or compensation received and I am sure Raj will rinse Stockport for as much as he can get and maybe even Challinor for breach of contract (I'm no solicitor but there must be some kind of breach).

The thing that is infuriating me the most is that this approach was made in the week, last week so for Challinor to have his head turned, made his mind up and then still have the audacity to take charge of the team he has no intention of leading long term and then overseeing our heaviest defeat of the season it just stinks. Bad form from both Challinor and Stockport County.

Yes I am truly grateful for the effort he put in to get us back to the Football League but this turn of events has soured his tenure as Manager of Hartlepool United. It's just a shame.

We move on and Tony Sweeney will get our full backing.

Raj is famous for sticking to contracts. NOT.....

Whilst he and his wife are taking the respect away from the chairman's name, really ????
Look how many players he brought in, both on loan and permanently last season and he was backed by the chairman at every stage. That's where the credit and respect should be directed.

The departure is poor, undoubtably.

Chris Turner left to manage the Wendy's with Pools top of the league when he left...

We got Mike Newell.....

Newell got Pools promoted. Same when Cloughie went to Derby and Gus McLean took over.

Life goes on. Pools next managerial appointment is the one that matters, not Stockport's. Hope Tony Sweeney puts us right back on track tomorrow night.

Not the end of the world hes gone.
Did a great job for Pools in a short space of time.
Wont get no greef of me if he returns with Stockport next season.
Hes the main reason we back in the league with 5000+ supporters.
Hopefully hes laid the foundations for us to progress to the next level.

That would have been a fitting tribute if he’d left us for a bigger club in better circumstances, but sorry his scuttling departure leaves a nasty taste.

exactly. as usual in football its heart ruling peoples heads once more. by the new year if we are still where we are this affair will just be another memory. wonder nowadays why losing a manager seems worse than losing prominent players at a club like pools. the latter are for me harder to replace.

Just a few short years ago we were on the bones of our arse. Our very existence was in question. Along came Raj Singh and Jeff Stelling and pumped their own money in. That is the main reason we are back in the league, make no mistake about that. The bus was rolling again but we needed a new driver. Raj made the decision to offer that job to Challinor and what a master stroke that was. Challinor did the rest, backed by Raj and the club and the fans. Everybody bought into the big plan, we were a solid team again, the club, the management , the players and the fans.
No it is not the end of the World and we move on but people are bemused at the way the end came about.
Deep down everybody expected DC to move on to greater things with a bigger club higher up in the pyramid. I have no problem with that and he would have went with our collective blessing. We would have watched his new club's results inwardly hoping he was doing well.
Speaking for myself. and only myself, I don't want to see success at Stockport, mainly for the way they've blatantly gone about getting what they want in complete disregard of our Chairman's decision to refuse them permission to pursue the matter. I don't wish DC any ill will at all but I think he has made a mistake and may find in the fullness of time that the people who have ruthlessly got him on board are very capable of ruthlessly kicking him overboard. if or when that happens he'll get no sympathy from me.

more importantly what do we get out of this shit show ??? forget the new manager for now.. Sweens will be in till after xmas unless someone of real favour comes available or steps forwards and takes the reigns. But because the snake resigned do we get anything from stockport ? are we actually going to see a penny ? or have we lost the battle and the war ?

pools receiving compo for a departing manager. you,d have to dust off your old reference books to find out when it happened last. usually its the dummies getting it off the club.

I think that him resigning just forces the issue, there will still be compensation involved.

Someone on the Stockport forum thinks there’s a clause in the settlement which stops Challinor raiding pools for 12 months. We can only hope otherwise I reckon Fergie, Sterry and Holohan Will all rock up there very soon…

Good luck enforcing that. If a player wants to leave and go to Stockport then does the club keep a player who doesnt want to be there or just get them off the books and get someone in who does want to be there?

The departure is disappointing but I will be eternally grateful for DC's part in getting us out of the crap National League!
The move to Stockport suggests to me that he either lacks the ambition or confidence to progress to management in the higher leagues. Failure to achieve promotion within a couple of seasons will see his reputation evaporate very quickly.

In don't wish anyone ill harm but I'll be watching Stockport's results with half an eye over the next couple of seasons and if they happen to languish in the depths of the National Farmers Convention I won't shed a tear...

Agreed- up to a point, but I doubt many on here used to go round their workplace fist pumping for all they were worth, shortly after agreeing a new contract that suggested they were there for the long haul.

I'm sure County fans will be loads more charitable if Challinor gets your lot promoted this season, signs an extended contract, everything's looking rosy in League 2 by October - and then he leaves to join Wrexham because they offered to double his wages

Well said Mr Hogans but I'm afraid our esteemed visitor from the dark depths of the oblivion league won't comprehend any of that because in his World it is impossible that DC would contemplate leaving a massive club like his whom DC has just saved from oblivion and who are in the top half of league two, to go back into oblivion to repeat the procedure. Nobody would do that just for more money, surely. Oh wait....................

Which Stockpot wit claimed with a straight face one reason for moving down was because the weathers warmer.
I hate to break it to him but....polar bears do not rifle through our bins, well not till January... herds of reindeer don’t frolic on the pitch..... we don’t live in igloos all the year round .... and we love our Husky’s.......I realise you sit on the garden terrace all year round near the tripe factory with the aircon on full whack knocking back the ice cold screen wash as the balmy tropical breezes waft over from the abattoir. Live like Kings eh.
Idiot.

Having worked in Stockport for the last few years it's not warmer but it rains a hell of a lot more over there and is definitely greyer than the east side of the country

arrogant fucker.

Edit:- the second video of simon wilson director of football - I meant as the arrogant one. You'd think they were Barcelona the way he went on and had the fan base of Brazil.

The move was announced by county just before half time of this evening's game. Self indulgent entitled twats.

Challinor's ability gave me one of the best weekends of my life. If he chooses to leave the club, because he's had a better offer, I don't blame him. Pools should be bigger than one man. Hopefully they are.
