No one is bigger than HUFC.
Let's see what happens then move forward.

Surprised at Challinor's language in his interview and it leaves a sour taste with me - if he does go then like others have said give Sweens a bash.

I agree about Sweens being given a chance.
As for the interview, the mask seemed to have dropped and a different person revealed.

I wonder if Raj might take out an injunction to stop discussions with Stockport? He strikes me as an owner you don't want to cross!

yes, give him a chance till the end of the season. actually our turnaround in performances started with him and challinor just improved on it. worst thing the club could do is appoint an outsider at the moment who could change things for changers sake and see us slipping down to the danger area. all the club is short of is a couple of good signings and not a shake up.

[quote="billinghampoolie1908"]Why on earth would he want to go manage a set of fans that resembled a morgue for a play off semi final fixture? I suggest he holds on and goes to a fan base with a bit of passion, maybe a wrexham who will love him, not a club who think they are way bigger than they actually are.

that play off game was only a morgue due to covid regulations with a crowd limit and being distanced from others. would have been no different at the vic especially if pools never looked like scoring. they are no less passionate fans as poolies are. its just a few of em that think their club is bigger and better than it is and that it deserves success for no other reason.

Stockport made themselves known to Challinor a couple of weeks ago apparently. Two manager of the week awards ramped that right up. ‘Stott was working to get his man’

One thing you can’t deny of Stockport is they generally get what they want. Bolton captain, Madden etc.

Altrincham’s gaffer has moved straight away to distance himself from the speculation. Now, whether that would change if Stockport offered him a silly contract remains to be seen but Saturday’s interview with Chal basically I’m ready to fck off just waiting for the contract to come through to sign… but don’t worry I’ll be sure to let you know when that happens!

Nowt lasts forever, especially at pools

Btw I can’t really knock the bloke if they are reportedly more than doubling his wage. Guess EFL management isn’t the be all end all when coin is involved.

The contract signature is the only bit that baffles me, given he knew the financial constraints he was gonna work under at Pools in L2 moving forward. In all likelihood it’ll secure us a bigger pay off… so thanks for the parting gift, Dave! Poolie through and through.

Chandy get those Challinor Stays videos pulled down now!

Its going to have to be reported some way or another as there is going to be alot of fans asking that question to him in the ground tomorrow (if he is there) - i for one will be one of them as ive purposely bought a ticket in the Cyril Knowles behind the dugout to see what the crack is

Most of the angst that has been generated has been between message boards and on Twitter. Only Raj has come out with any statement and he's said he's not allowing Stockport to talk to DC. I therefore presume that DC will be on the bench tomorrow. A very simple statement along the lines that "I'm flattered by the approach that Stockport made etc but I've just signed a three year deal and I'm here to do a job. The relationship with the fans is very special and I look forward to meeting the challenges we face in League2. Never Say Die." Waters smoothed.

Did DC not make his own statement of sorts at around 5 o’clock on Saturday? Which fuelled a lot of the speculation across the weekend.

Dave has agreed personal terms with Stockport.

Compensation needs to be paid £125k , talks are on going.

Yet more insider information eh? So he'll be leaving today as per yesterday's straight-from-the-horse's-mouth prediction? Or was that one wrong too?

Can I have next week's winning lottery numbers while you're on a roll?

Surely the compo should be more than 125k - who pens these contracts man. Surely we knew within 3 years someone would probably come in for DC. Having a mighty sum of cash to part ways with him is the only saving grace from this whole judas debarkle shit show and it now clearly looks like if he does go we get sweet fuck all for him. In the grand scheme of things NLN strikers probably cost more in the current market.

according to reports on their forum its been said by multiple sources who seem to know next weeks lottery numbers that its a done deal aswell. Very Disappointing start to the week.

is there a case with the FA of them making illegal approaches to a manager in a job the same way as it is with players under contract without permission. if so i hope raj sues the buggers. this is just like life in general where those with the dosh think they should do what they like without anything or anybody biting their arses.

I don't think that holds much sway these days. Most deals are arranged before two clubs actually speak to each other, a lot done through agents and representatives. Which is why you rarely see anything being done about tapping up players or managers.

The interview was frankly awkward and embarrassing.... he seemed totally uninterested and answered just what he had to, the mind was somewhere else. When the interviewer summoned the courage to raise the Stockport question that was met with what I considered evasive replies and finished quickly saying words to the effect that any information will be given out by the club.....then I knew he’d gone.

Money talks mate. The manager gets his rise and benefits with his new masters and leaves us in the lurch. End of the day, all I’m bothered about is my club.

Managers come,
Managers go.
We’re here for life,
We’re the fans y’know.

Im in the unfortunate mind set that hes gone - just one of them things a suppose and football is cruel for both fans and players at times !

Pools have the shit end of the stick yet again !

So basically anytime Pools manage to get a good manager (probs only happens once every 15 /20 years) we have to live with the Anxiety that regardless of him being under contract we are succumbed to loose them anyways. Hate this side of supporting a low league not very well off club.

IF he has actually accepted then logistics and salary will always factor in the decision. That's why Sweens would be a shout, local lad, loved by the fans and a golden opportunity to cut his cloth with a decent club in the EFL. Managers are no different to players and it's why we managed to get Sterry on a 2 year deal, basically because he wanted to stay local.

Half the bastard Stockport fans dislike him anyways - If DC starts playing real life footy manager and buying up the best of what he can and still delivers defeats then its his signings and his team so heads will be on the block straight away ! But we all know this wont happen and hes a fantastic manager and no doubt will turn Stockport into the bastard none league Real Madrid with further League standard galacticos on there way.

I'm as surprised as anyone else that Dave Challinor thinks Stockport is a step up, except financially. He must know that there's absolutely no guarantee that they'll get out of the National League this season. He's certainly can't expect a repeat of the luck Pools had in the play off final! If Stockport miss out this season and have an iffy start in 2022/23, it could be Fylde all over again for him. His choice, his gamble.

As for Pools, we were going nowhere before he joined us and now we're back in the Football League. The timing and circumstances of his departure are pretty poor but it's not the end of the world.

Look at the Geordies, loadsa money and instant gratification demanded and expected.
I suspect DC will have the same sort of pressure from a far more demanding ‘customer base’ than he had from us. They are D E S P E R A T E to escape their exile and if someone’s getting paid mega bucks in their eyes to do the job, he’d better get his fecking arse into gear sharpish. They will want it NOW this season and expect miracles as standard, another season down there with DC in charge won’t be an option.
But, he walked into with his eyes open while we were blindfolded.
