Our third pen was crucial after 2 saved. Love the way Mark Shelton laughs in the face of that cocky get of a keeper then sends him the wrong way!

The best angle I've ever saw of it was one taken from where the BT commentators were. You could see the full length of the pitch and when Buse misses his penalty the technical staff and fans just run across the pitch en masse. Wonderful stuff.

bit of a toss up between that and promotion for the first ever time in 1968. both i thought would never happen.

for me it was 90/91 promotion after nearly going out of the league for the umpteenth time under Cyril/Alan Murray

but for the sheer importance of getting out of a tin pot league, yeah this is right up there

I felt that relegation into what I felt was oblivion was the darkest day in my living memory so getting back into the league was the greatest day for me.
I was beginning to think I would see out my days as a non leaguer.

It wasn't so much been in NL that bothered me, it was the immense lack of ambition. 3 years ago on this very date we absolutely scraped by an FA cup game with Kidsgrove, a side 3 divisions below who never even did well at that level. So many more bad games, from the likes of Guiseley at home to Harrogate away. I just wonder how many National League sides we never defeated, thats how quick Challinor changed the team and i honestly believe if the season was never null and voided we'd of made the playoffs. I saw Barrow at home and we outplayed them in every aspect.

I never heard Craig Hignett go into players like Challinor did at the Salford game, and it worked. Our performance last night was one of our best this season.

really expected league games against bradford park avenue rather than bradford city before DC came in. doubt many poolies ever accepted non league football from day 1 and it was really games against other ex league clubs that kept me going.

Many times National League North looked far more likely than League Two.

Like Accrington always enjoyed the games between Wrexham, Notts County, Halifax (when they wanted to play), Chesterfield, Torquay etc. But whenever I saw the likes of Eastleigh and Dover bring a "following" of 20 or so people I honestly thought how the heck is this sustainable?

at least now i can attend any home game i,m able to attend without highlighting only certain games i only wished to attend. in 4 seasons i could count on one hand games that i did attend against the traditional non league southern clubs. would have been the same if i,d lived a stones throw from the vic. ashamed to admit i did buy one copy of that non league paper rag though. that was the first sign of submission.

When Donny graced the oblivion league I was persuaded to go to one of their midweek games by some of the locals. After that I shivered with fear any time we looked like following them. Ironically Donny were our last opposing league team before this season. One of them still says they tried to keep us in the football league. They preferred their trip to the VIC over Rodney Parade. They are glad to see us back if only because I'm smiling again.

Rodney Parade is a horrible ground, and you can just tell the joke of a surface is a real leveler.

But in the days of re-election, when we finished in the zone of death, you had that agonising wait to see who’d got the kiss of death. I recall sitting on the terrace on the Mill House side after the game was over wondering if this would be my last time. It wasn’t but.....

Ah yes the wait was excruciating but somehow we survived and there was always a bit of hope but when Newport scored that goal that saved them all hope was gone, oblivion had become reality.
An ex referee once told me that the christmas card we sent out to all clubs and officials, with it's Shakespearian connection, hit the spot with the clubs who voted. It was said that each year the arrival of the card was eagerly awaited and held pride of place in boardrooms up and down the country. True or false, who knows but something worked the oracle in our favour.
