It's made the Wycombe Wanderers fans upset, so that's good enough for me

Any draw at home is a good draw. This draw has the potential to draw a 5,000 plus crowd and could be picked as a decent game to show on TV. So a decent gate plus TV money Plus a chance of the win money would boost the war chest that I hope Raj is building for DC in January.
Wycombe are flying high in league one so getting back to the Championship is probably uppermost in their plans so a lot could ride on how they decide to shape their team on the day. A few key players getting rested is my favoured situation.
A few bits, hopes and maybe's I know but it presents a banana skin which I hope won't escape TV attention.

The TV will only be interested in non league teams or previous cup winners at this stage.

Talking of Wycombe, I see that Akinfenwa scored against Donn-eh yesterday. Even at his advanced years, he still offers much more of a threat than our bunch of "strikers" combined and his contract expires at the end of this season. Just thinking, like......!

Pleased that we avoided a potential embarrassment against a National League club!

but he is the size of two of our non strikers which helps. as for his contract expiring i think he,s in his late 30,s now.

Akinfenwa looks to be going down the Pundit/Podcaster Media Influencer route... hes popping up more and more on youtube football channels and im sure he co presents something on TV. For a player still actually playing football hes a busy man. I would suspect he will hang those boots up for good should he not get an extended offer from Wycombe ?

saying that... a NL side with money to burn has him written all over it - Another Marlon Harewood if he came to us for sure !

I'll always remember Marlon for teeing up Michael Duckworth for that stonker at Carlisle on Great Escape Day ( ok I know they were safe the week before, before anyone else mentions it ). What a strike that was !

Don't even think we could get Akinfenwa.

My main hope is Oates flops more, we get him back, forgive him (out of desperation instead of sincerity) and he becomes our main goal source.

Is Luke James still injured? If so he's nailed on for a January signing.

Akinfenwa wouldn't come up here, he's spent his entire career around the London area.

I believe you are correct, a f, as I think he's 39 now. Incidentally, my comment was tongue-in-cheek!

Doubt gareth ainsworth will send some second rate team up to the vic more in hope. an excellent manager who would be first on my wish list if DC moved on to better things. hope the game is decided on the day as i do not want any extra games to play with an injuty prone squad.

Wycombe will have a very good B team if you like. You dont get to the Championship on a bare 11/12 players these days. I know they couldnt hack it but still will have some talented fringe players who would walk into the Pools team just now. Im sure they have a very good academy setup too. Probs bring some new crop of players that will tear Timi and Byrne a new one !

I also doubt he would send a second rate team and never suggested that. He could however rest a few and give his fringe players a chance. He wouldn't be the first manager to do that.

Hi all, Wycombe fan in peace. Thinking of making the trip for this one, but this would definitely mean an overnight stay. What is there to do in Hartlepool about from the football and the marina?

By the way, we don't have an academy but do have a development squad - we're trying to follow the Brentford model, I believe. I'm sure there will be some rotation for the cup game but we will still be strong. We should beat you nine times out of ten but this is football and who knows what will happen on the day? The best of luck for the rest of the season.

I see Gateshead fans are having a right whinge about Marske fans smashing their chairs...

I'm sure Gateshead FC never broke any chairs at the Vic...oh shit they did!

Definitely make the trip up. It may rid some of the stereotype NE bullsh!t you may have in your mind (if you have never graced the mighty NE). Seaton isnt a bad place to be pre match - grab some fish and chips and grab a pint in one of the new bars. Stay in the Premier Inn on the Marina and you can grab a pint and nice Indian meal post match.
Its not as cold as southern folk make out and the Vic is a nice place to watch your team get beat :) the mighty NWC is becoming the 'Yellow Wall' if you like of League 2 football so enjoy ! :character-smurfguy:
