Worst Highlight package yet... did we really do that little in the game to just show that pesh ?

How are Stevenage even a club.... absolute NL standard team / fans / stadium the lot. Where the hell where the fans ? tinpot shh!teeee. yes im venting ! roll on tomorrow night when we may see a change in formation and get a win !

Fondop needs to get into the 6 yard box if he is to score - lots of great crosses for him to get onto the end of and in some cases he builds up the play by laying the ball off but jogging into the opposition box. Absolutely infuriates me when strikers cant get themselves into decent positions at this level man !

just our luck to get beat off a team who have been terrible all season and not won in their last god knows how many games

There's nearly 10 minutes of highlights on the OS that give a much better impression of the game, but they take a bit of finding!

Click on iFollow then 'latest videos'

For some stupid reason the first highlights that come up are the Crewe game. You have to click on 'view more' 3 times, then it finally sorts itself out and the first video to look at is the long highlights of the Stevenage game.

Ain't technology wonderful?

ahh that explains it then - usually we get a good few minutes which shows some corners and passage of play. Im keen to see anything from Cullen. Seems he would of being a better starting 11 player on the day going off few other things ive read.

You can actually watch the full match replay.

Missing Liddle massively. Our defenders failed to get a tackle in for both their goals. I could mention our missed chances but we all know the reason why.
If we don't rectify our goal scoring problems in the January window we'll be facing a relegation scrap.

plus a decent replacement for liddle when he might be out and who can replace him when he packs up. think that could be earlier than we all wish where it seems he is continually playing with a niggling injury that only rest can cure.

Would imagine an FA Cup run needed to loosen the purse strings in January.
Two easier luck of the draw teams at Home then Man Utd Away or Newcastle for a Poolie Invasion.

Third Round trip to the Bar Codes would do nicely.

Unfortunately, after almost 50 years supporting Pools I still don't need my toes to count the number of times we've reached the 3rd Round. We are a bloody hopeless cup side - apart from the Durham Senior Cup!

An easy passage into the fourth round and then a trip to Anfield and the sight of Lidds putting Saleh in his pocket.

Marske v Gateshead
York v Morpeth.
Last FA Cup qualifying round.
Anyone of them at home would be a decent draw.

Wouldnt want to play Marske, already knocked out two sides higher than them, they beat Chester 4-0 tonight.

Can guarantee we'll win away to Kidderminster only to get knocked out away to Colchester while they draw Man U at home.

would be interested to see the stats of which present league club plus those now in non league actually have the worst FA Cup record. every dog usually has its day, york, port vale and later chesterfield reaching the semi finals. somehow i cannot see any reason why pools could not be another but we all know it will not happen. if torquay and stockport get through you know it will be one of them away.

Pools have definitely got giantkilled a good few times. It's a surprise it never happened during our national league years really, think the last embarrassing result was the Blyth one and before that Kettering.

Could definitely see us drawing Torquay away like, no doubt it'll be a Friday night kick off to boot as to be fair a playoff final rematch would be interesting for the neutral.

even those who have been giantkilled have also been giantkillers themselves in the past. blyth was however a shit show that was really on the cards.

its absolutely nailed on that we butcher a Hereford or Dartmoor over 40s 9-0 and then get drawn away to one of our NL foes (say a Solihull or Eastleigh) and get knacked off them on a rainy winters night !

to get a West Ham at home again or even a decent Championship side would be the icing on the cake for our first back in the league.

by then i hope we have signed a striker whos capable of 15 plus a season

watching the last time we played Morcambe (3-2 win) at home all those years ago on youtube when we had Billy and Paddy uptop. Thomas and Allessandra on the wings - good players all of them and out of all the past front lines - thats the one id wish we had for this season (plus an Armstrong coming off the bench)

We actually played Morecambe away in the FA Cup during the Craig Harrison era. The away end was practically full, all the poolies were singing and...

Pools conceded within 4 minutes (felt like a few seconds!). And shown absolutely no backbone for 90 long minutes. It was the perfect snapshot of the clubs darkest era.

Makes me even prouder to be a Poolie and even more Happy in the fact we have DC when you think back to those CH days - club was heading for absolute sunday league malarchy minus the Bovril.

Pools' opponents in the 2nd Round proper will be Gillingham (again!) or Morecambe as cup draws seem to love a coincidence.

Looking at the National League results is a hard habit to get out of. Notts C, Stockport C, Wrexham and Torquay 10th,11th, 12th and 13th in the table at the minute. I imagine Pools would have made a slow start too, as we'd have lost Sterry and likely a couple more as well as the players we couldn't hold onto even as promotion winners.

yes , nailed on that Sterry and co would have left for League club pastures new- however the likes of Ogle, Smith, Byrne, Hendrie, Lawlor, Fela and maybe Cook / Cullen would have all being signings had we stayed in the NL i reckon. The team that was out there on tuesday night would of been very close to the team i think we would have had starting as our 11 should we not have won the promotion. Would we have seen the loan players ? who knows ... who cares it didnt happen. im chewing fat that doesnt need to be UTFP !

If we lost the playoff final itd of been the end of that team and that's from the horses mouth as well. Challinor's words were post match that if we lost the team would have been broken up.

I know we're all biased on here, but christ we needed that win far, far more than Torquay ever could. It was a long time coming considering our playoff history as well.

that team got broken up anyway with players doing sideways moves for the money.

Thank god there was no VAR in that final.
We could of been non league forever.

bit harsh on Craig harrison i think; he was flung into a horrendous situation with state of the club but still guess he was poor.

Challinor has been a breath of fresh air but anyone interrupted by the whole Coxall era was on a hiding to nothing. Think Hignett had started to assemble a decent team before they all got sold off for peanuts and money never seen again and he then left.

might as well have let bates carry on as i doubt he could have done any worse than harrison and might have saved a few quid in the bargain.
