Arguably our toughest game this season - glad its at the Vic.

Lidds and Ferguson both out - so that leaves the defence a bit...well .. not good enough

Holohan also out...by the sounds of things.

Ill go with a draw 1-1 - but my head tells me its going to be our first thumping at home maybe 0-3. Exeter have a good attack.

Just listened to the latest Mail podcast and dident realize we have 8 strikers /forwards in the squad.
Not to clever all of them.
But got a mad feeling one of them going to get a two goal cameo performance.

Playing Exeter is the first game against a top ten team. I would like to think that if we can get something out of the game, that we can maintain a decent position in this league. I think we will need to score at least two goals to stand a chance of some result. No idea where two goals can come from but hopefully:
Pools 2-2 Exeter. Attendance 5001

Mr Fondop has Poolie favourite written all over him. An unknown whos plied his Trade at higher levels (usually the other way round) First African to play for the club i think ? . DC off the back of signing his new contract unearths an absolute Lower league Drogba. Hes this seasons Oates. Bangs 15 goals in and get sold for massive profits to the Jock prem feeder club that is Fatherwell

That has to be Tewfik Abdallah. He achieved the feat almost 100 years ago.

Been plenty of African players since as well, most recent is probably Darren Holden I think and Peter Kioso was eligible for Democratic Republic of Congo.

Saw striker Joel Nouble play for Arbroath on BBC Scotland last night.
Just what we need and has ambitions to play for the Ivory coast.

Can't see a goal for us and with Lidds out defence is ropey, 0-3 with a couple conceded from corners due to flappy keeper. Hope I am wrong and would be delighted with a draw with 4 key men missing.

I'll take the point but if Mr Killip could control his six yard area we could have had three. Six out of the top seven drew today so no real damage.

Predicted it rightly so. Shame i didnt have a £10 on it on sky bet.

Happy with that. Shame We didnt see a Cook or Goodwin fof
The last 20 or so as felt Fondop or Mols could of been swapped.

DC is our King !!!

Two bits of good news: DC signed for 3 years and Pools competing well with a very good League 2 outfit.
Roll on Northampton.

Would of like to of seen a fresh legged forward come on for Fondop who I can't see hitting the Onion Bag much in his first n last season for Pools.
Anutha excellent attendance.
Let's get these 51 point ASAP then maybe crack on up the table.

Hendrie had a good debut and so did the lad on loan, Jones, till he tired in the second half. Fondop looked decent in the air and made a couple of good headed clearances in defence too when he came back for set pieces. Looked slow on the deck though and didn't get on the end of a couple of very inviting low crosses.

Molyneux had his best game in ages - if he could find a bit of consistency he could still be a big player for Pools.

All in all it was a decent point with four of our best players out. No idea why DC didn't give Cullen 15-20 minutes at the end.

Agreed - didn't understand why he had Cullen and Goodwin stripped and ready to go but didn't then use them - but, hey, in DC we trust, Good point against a decent team with four of our starters out.

Happy with the point in the end against a very good attacking side - I was still left a bit disappointed we couldn't nick it though as they weren't that smart at the back. Forward line is still lacking, we need a proper goalscorer but they cost money!!

Cullen scored 5 in the behind closed door game at Durham - back in the match day squad so can only assume hes fitness is nearly there

hope we see the lad next game along side that Mols that turned up - might see Mols go on a run here an notch a few more

I think Molyneux is being asked to play the role DC got Oates to play last season. It clicked with Oates so let's hope DC can convince Molyneux of his chance to resurrect the possibility of cult status at Pools. He was heading that way until the injury a couple of seasons ago.
He has the ability so let's see if Dave can instil the confidence back into him. It's becoming more apparent that the transformation in Oates was entirely down to DC. No reason why he can't do it again.

Totally Agree with that ! you can do what you want on the training pitch and most of the time it looks to work, but until you actually play in the match day game and get that experience then its going to take time. DC clearly is working his magic again as he did with Oates. If Mols gets as much running done as Oates did and Fondop can get into the positions Armstrong did who knows we might have that forward line we have been wishing and hoping for.

for me mols does not involve himself in the game as much as i would like. oates even when he was shit was always in the game to the sides detriment at times. there is a player in mols, it just needs bringing out of him more.

Yeh this is why i dont rate him as much as id like - fair enough the lad scored vital goal(s) for us last season against Torquay and in the final with his Penalty but when he came to us on Loan he was fire. Really proved why he was a Sunderland academy player and looked to be a good replacement for Nathan Thomas. Not sure if his inury and Covid have scuppered that development. Im sure he will start the next game and if he keeps making those sorts of movements in which he got his goal on saturday im sure we will see a few more from him.

Already said Molyneux played well on Saturday. As well as his goal he put one on a plate for Fondop and his work rate all game was what the manager is looking for.

If he can play regularly to that standard he'll be one of the first names on the teamsheet. That's a decent sized 'if' but he's had a proper run in the side and it's time to repay the faith shown in him.
