Mike Fondop is a player in the Bennett mould - 6 feet 3 inches, puts himself about more than a bit and good in the air. With the service he'll get from both sides of the pitch he's got a great opportunity to do well for us.

All managers make mistakes and I certainly wouldn’t question DC opinion over mine I’m just looking at Cooks record and it doesn’t fill me with confidence. Let’s remember all DCs signings have not been a success. Personally I always believe if you sign 5 free transfers you will probably get two successes.

Cook has obviously done enough while he's been training with the club to convince the manager he's got something to offer.

With Burey back at Millwall and Holohan out too, he'll likely to get a chance to show us fans what he's about as early as this weekend. Think I'll wait to see him play a few times before writing him off ;)

Never said he was a world beater, just believe in giving someone a chance and then decide.

Challinor is bound to bring in loads of players who don't make it for us he is working on scraps, but he pulls one or two cracking players out along the way. Fondop certainly not rated by chesterfield or aldershot fans, but either was Armstrong at Salford. He can't be any worse than the non existent forward line we have had over the last few games.

I’m still waiting to see Cullen before I judge him. He looks on paper to be very similar to Cook.

seen fondop play but cannot place cook at all. the former was the typical big non league black lad which plenty teams seem to have. saying that he is certainly the type of player pools need up front with his physical presence. think both lads never expected to be playing league football this season and its their last chance to shine at this level. its always a wait and see situation for any new signing. writing em off before they kicked a ball for us is totally pointless.

Surprised to see Cook as one of our free signings. Usually at this level its players going the other way and us giving players to the Heed. Never mind, ive watched a few clips of him on youtube and like others have said, seems to be another Cullen type player albeit match fit. I fully trust in DC judgement, now more than ever as the man is critical down to a T. Watch the Feaths interview with Chandy and hes by far the most regarded out of all the managers Feaths has played under. I very much doubt the lads a donkey.

Fondop is just the sort of striker we need. Regardless of what other clubs have thought of him. He suits our system of play and DC will man manage him into that mould am sure. You dont play at the likes of Burton without having something there. Aslong as he can make his presence known in the box and isnt shy of heading the ball we will make good use out of him. Kabamba was the same sort of player - came from a very poor lower league side and excelled at Pools. Who knew he would end up playing Scottish Prem football.

Give them a good few games and im sure 1 out of 2 will come good. Even if they help others in the team and dont necessarily notch goals themselves, its better than nothing until January at least.

I was half expecting another Midfielder to come in also (heard we had a former Scottish Champ player training with us). I think we need a good ball winning box to box type. Especially when we are winning games and need to shut down other teams.
