We owe Sutton a hammering for humiliating us near the end of the season . So come on lads a repeat of the Tranmere game except put your chances away. PLEASE be careful to keep Richie Barker quiet and watch the winger they signed from Notts County.
Result Sutton 1 Pools 2
Crowd under 2000

Richie Barker is 46 now so I reckon even Gary Liddle could give him a 5 yard start in a sprint and catch him  I'm sure you mean Richie Bennett.

Agree with the sentiment 100%.The only thing I'd enjoy more is beating Harrogate down at their former plastic palace next spring.

Luke Armstrong is in The League Paper this weekend gushing "I've never been made so welcome" as he was when he joined Harrogate.

Hope Dave Challinor puts that up in the dressing room when we play them at the Vic - and Liddle kicks him over the stand!

I'm sure I'd feel welcome in North Korea if I was getting paid 3k every week...

typical football player speak like the shit they come out with when signing for a new club. these quotes are really all the same and one page could cover the lot of them. big club going somewhere, best fans in the league, my lifelong ambition blah blah blah.

Will never forget Nicky Deverdics(?) saying something along the lines of "I didn't want to leave Pools and I love the club" only to sign for Wrexham and basically say "I'm real glad I'm out of that shithole".

back to sutton and oldham. we will never get a better time to play either so we need something out of both games. knowing the pools luck we,ll end up thrashing oldham for them to pack up mid season to upset our goal difference and points total.

True, but Pools were such a car crash behind the scenes when Deverdics left that any sane person would have been pleased to get away.

Armstrong was an obscure Salford squad member when he came to a club with an excellent manager and a hard working and very united team. He's not the sort of player who makes goals from nothing, so without Pools' manager and team behind him he'd have achieved naff all last season.

You'd like to think he'd have a bit more class.

armstrong is a goal scorer....i'd reckon we'd be even better off if we had him

i'm shocked salford couldn't see that

and you making a lot of very little as because been mentioned, it's pretty much scripted what players say. what did you expect him to say? "i know we don't get many fans here, but they paying me good money so i decided to sign"

Tranmere and Barrow games would have been won/drew if Armstrong had been a Pools player in them games. Even DC mentions Armstrong would have put 2/3 chances away at Rovers. Barrow he will of certainly converted as their defence is shite and wouldnt of been able to handle him had he got the ball in the box.

Sutton deserve a battering by us for sure - i cant see it though. Bennett is going to be their danger man coming off the back off 2 goals this weekend. the Dutch winger they have i thought was too sporadic but still poses a threat.

its more than bloody annoying when you see these lads scoring and you look where pools are without them and the possibility of where we might have been with them. it would not have bankrupted the club having both these lads in the side.

The club has a budget to work to these two would have broken the budget and maybe we would not have been able to sign other players. I have no doubt these two were probably tapped up before the end of last season.

Pound to a penny they were off regardless and signed up. Don’t blame them, because it looked unlikely we’d be going up anyway, but we did.
No good whining on about what ifs, we are where we are, so let the manager sort it out. As for not bankrupting the club....really? What info is available to back this assertion up.

Anyone seen where Mansfield are in the table and the run of form they are on? I'd love to be playing them soon. Not such a great move after all, except for the bank balance.
Same for Harrogate - no fans but the money's good.

Luckily we're on the promotion bounce and have got a manager that has got the best out of his players last season. We got promoted against the odds and the wish is to stay in the league. On track so far and hopefully DC continues to work his magic.

Sutton went on a cup run a couple of seasons ago (FA Cup / Piegate) and the money they got from that, like it has for Lincoln from the same season, set them up. They've invested wisely and managed to get promoted. They had a change of manager to contend with too. Well done them.

Hope we finally get a win there, even 1-0.

Pools just didn't turn up when they played Sutton towards the end of last season - we were so bad we gifted them a promotion party. Any neutral watching on BT Sport wouldn't have given tuppence for Pools' chances of going up as well.

I don't think league positions count for much this early in the season. Sutton will be expecting to beat us again, even without the plastic. I just hope Pools are right at it this time and chalk up some away points.

I was thinking the same. If Strerrys? shot had gone in rather than hitting the post early on in that game then it may have altered the result. But Pools just didn't turn up on that day. Hope we play them off the park tonight and nick a goal or 3.
