So with DC looking likely to have signed his extension (thank god). Im hoping Raj now sees the importance of bringing in another striker now Burey has unfortunately had to leave the fold. Typical Pools luck, start the season remarkably well using a young untried winger scoring our goals for him to be ruled out for 12 to god knows how many weeks. I hope when the lads fit we see him in Blue and White again for a second bite at the Pools Cherry.

So DC already has commented on not changing the formation (which is a good thing IMO). We now just need Fela or Cullen to step upto the mark. Worrying still we only have Goodwin until Jan also. Mols showing us hes not a striker but a perfectly good still attacking winger begs the question where does he fit into this team ? Cullen when fit would certainly do a job for us. There is after all a reason why hes never played at a lower standard, the man has goals in him and is still relatively young for a pro at this level. Frustrating as feck that we didnt bring in at least one good fit striker in the mould of Armstrong (the amount of goals he could of got in the Tranmere game and even the Barrow game). Joe Grey another good player at our disposal but fear we cannot rely on a 17 year old at this level (a nice to have he may be as an impact sub, but i feel he needs to go out on loan to a Blyth or Gateshead to gather some more mens football).

This leads me on to who if any are the players we currently have on trial ?
we definitely offered money for players on deadline day so there is thankfully money there (how much we will never know but it clearly wasnt enough to draw in the players we poached). there is 3 or 4 interesting free agents currently who id like to see us sign from the below list make your own mind up on any of them:

Former Exeter Man Nicky Ajose is without a club (29)
Kieran Agard Mentioned / linked with us in the summer
Nile Ranger (ill say no more on him)
Former Newcastle youth JJ Hooper (formerly of Barnet)
Former Leyton Orient front man Jay Simpson
Jermone Sinclair (watford academy Grad)

I'd say a Goalkeeper.

A Youth team setup in the mould of the Infamous 'La Masia De Can Planes'... just outside the ground when they knock the Mill House down. The future of Hartlepool United training besides the Vic daily one day dreaming of playing infront of the NWC elite.

Tranmere forum suggested he had been training with them also and expected him to sign prior the Pools game last week.

Northern Echo quoted as saying Raj expects 2 free agents to come in who DC has pointed out he wants, with him also having an involvement with another player

I’ll break this to you as gently as I can......this .......is......Pools. Unless they’ve struck oil in the Rink End an alternative will be required, so.......
The ‘ La Marisa De Can Planes’ will have to make do with the ‘Furnessio Streetio all weather Comunityio pitch, skateboard park, bottle smashing area and general fooking about Centre’.

Add to that list

Maxime Biamou - 6’1”, French, ex-Sutton striker who has been with Coventry for the last 4 years, they seemed to love him there, but was released at the end of last season

Collin Quaner - 6’3”, German striker, played 27 games in the Prem for Huddersfield, released at the end of 2019-20 season and played 6 games for St Mirren on a short term deal last season. Hasn’t scored a lot of goals, but has played at a consistently high level.

Great bit of scouting - sounds like a Footy Manager gem find.

I can only wish that we bring in someone who has played at prem/champ level and they hit the ground running at pools. Getting linked with that kid from Sunderland and Toure/James again is more than frustrating. Lets see if there is any truth in the Agard rumours.

not bothered one bit who players are or their past clubs. its how they play for the time they are at pools is what matters. sign a lad called jack brown from tadcaster albion lots of fans are underwhelmed. sign a lad with a fancy name who did something once for a championship club years ago everyone gets excited.

This whole thread is in Footy Manager territory. One thing's for sure, Challinor won't sign any sort of Billy Big Bollocks whatever level he's played at. Incoming players have to fit in with the Group - it's a massive part of the reason Pools have had some success.

yes, and not signing players any fans have expected him to sign or have previously been known either. every manager makes mistakes in signings but so far he has made very few.

It’s a pity all the people who could do Challinor’s job if only he’d listen are driving taxis, cutting hair or pontificating on message boards

and he will know all these players well before they come up on messageboards. its not just see a name and signing them. like us he will not rate some, some would not fit in, bad attitudes and the main one wage demands.
