300 meter exclusion zone around it cos it's a "transmitter" bbolt
Seriously though this is bad news for elderly folk who only have TV aerial reception and FM radios.
No indication as to when it will fixed or demolished and the operators of it have indicated possible use of temporary equipment. But I don't think you would have something like that just lying around.
Will we get a refund on out TV licence?

Some of the TV license goes towards infrastructure costs but the BBC would only pay a portion of this. I imagine since the advent of freeview this is split between all the different channel operators like Quest, Dave etc. Probably be a while before this is sorted if it needs everyone to cough up.

After years being screwed by the big companies for cable TV I finally go it took out and got freeview in.... save £80 a month and can’t say I’ve noticed the difference except for a minimal outlay I’m quids in every month. Ok it’s off air for now but there’s plenty of alternatives and the trusty tablet .......and I’ve discovered seal rescues in Namibia, try it.

BBC Chan's back on.
All channels forecast to be back on by end of the month.
Still about 60% of Chan's missing.

Agree, most of their output is over-hyped and overrated, from The Hundred to their latest detective series. Would happily subscribe to a Bonfire of the Sofas to get shot of BBC Breakfast 'News' and the truly dreadful One Show.

THE ONE SHOW....is the most banal utterly meaningless tosh ever aired on TV. Anyone who enjoys this must be human skirting board.
Never was ability so much below mediocrity so well rewarded...... Paying your TV Licence for the stuff they churn out is like feeding hay to a dead horse.

I react like Pavlov's Dog if I hear so much as a bar of its gormless theme tune. One of these days I won't be able to find the remote and will put my foot through the TV instead.

yes, and paying a TV licence for the channel you rarely watch which is full of repeats anyway. would make me happy to have some engineer disconnecting BBC off my tele for good and allow me to watch the rest licence free. its like having to buy a season ticket to watch a club you do not support or ever actually go just to go to the vic.

I hate that opening tune with a passion and the show is exactly as Snowy described it, unless it has improved since it was first broadcasted which I reckon is the one and only time I've actually watched it. On reflection the tune has it's advantages as it reminds me to do something else.

Got a load of channels back this morning..... unwatchable as the pictures are shoite. They’ve either used an old metal coat hanger as an aerial or we’re on the Greenland transmitter.

We've had to resort to plugging a laptop into the tele and bringing up the council channels via ITV Hub, All 4 etc. Virgin wanted another 20 odd bar a month to watch what was essentially freeview, yeah well aye!!!

Quest on Discovery + is quality like, full HD stream. Got to watch the lads crystal clear on saturday night and a bit of Le Mans yesterday. BTW I'm liking that highlights show with Colin Murray, he seems to get some ex lower league players on with him who actually know the leagues and teams.

There are more antique programs on the BBC than there are actual antique dealers.

We aren't affected by the transmitter fire as we have a Freesat box (not Sky) and our lass can still watch all her tripe while I'm safely tucked away in my mancave.

Only space aliens can disrupt our signal...

i feel sorry for the couple of antique shops that have not been on the BBC. bet they wonder what they have done wrong. the interesting thing about bargain hunt is when you see it being done live like i did at wetherby a few years back. just never realised how short these people are who are experts on it including tim wannacott.

Partial licence fee refund extension now available.
Can't be arsed for what it's worth.

If the BBC had any sort of decency it should automatically come off you next year's license instead of arseing about.

Have you seen “This Time” with Alan Partridge? It’s a direct spoof of The awful One Show.

I have noticed that people's older tvs can get some channels but not for new TVs.
Do newer TVs require more of a signal to operate?
Any views or other experience?

About January 2020 I noticed a lot of my digital channels had simply disappeared. And after much looking around I managed to get on a free helpline that told me that because the government had sold a lot of frequencies and made a lot of money from doing this they had to fix peoples TV signals free of charge. Namely me.

So a guy from Newcastle turned up and fitted a new aerial, new cable and most importantly a booster box thing and RESULT. All my channels back and all with no cost to me. The guy from Newcastle was a contractor employed by the government.

What I suppose I'm getting at is the booster box thing, it's defo made a difference and probably wouldn't cost that much to buy. If you want the helpline details I might be able to dig them out.

On the news yesterday that the Engineers have finally gained access to the site after some legal problem.
Hopefully back to normal soon.
I miss them 20 year old Rick Stein programmes on channel DAVE.

you may have hit on something there if its the same as radio,s in cars. Had an early post war lagonda years ago with its original valve set radio in it. only had long, medium and short wave but could pick up many foreign stations that i have never done with more modern ones.

Vigil is on tonight probably the most ridiculous programme ever. I have heard that tonight's episode has the sub surfacing so the captain can go fishing after the sonar spotted a huge shoal of cod.
