We did it.....we did it on penners. It's amazing.....this Malteser now living in the Selby/Leeds/York triangle can barely believe it.

Phythian...Drysdale...Hepplewhite...McGovern...Sheridan...Parry..that bloke that we signed from Darlo. Poolie heroes from my youth. New generation of Poolie heroes now.

Chuffed to fuck for Featherstone too. His interview after the game was spot on. He stayed because he wanted to get us back up.

I've always rated him despite some grief he's had on here.

Top bloke and player.

Absolutely awesome winning the way we did. Deserved an outcome like that after the cruel way we were relegated when Newport got their late goal in 2017. Great for DC having finally got into the Football League as a manager and that will ensure he stays with us. The way he moulded the team through the season with the squad and astute loanees was brilliant although frustrating for us Poolies at times. This team will be dismantled now so it will be interesting to see what DC has in store for our new era in league 2. UTP & NSD. clappp

Can’t quite believe it. I’m so used to the disappointment and disaster that I don’t know what to feel. A 95th minute goalkeeper equaliser was peak Pools, yet somehow they found a way back. Wonderful.

Completely agree about Featherstone and his interview. He’s been terrific - particularly in the latter part of the season. Had a tear in my eye then.

I haven't posted in years and years but today i just have to say well done to the boys. I don't think we deserved it on the pitch today but feel that the fans deserve the success this season. Can't credit Challinor enough for putting the pride and work ethic back in the team. I think for the first time in years we have a likeable set of players and always look a goalscoring threat. Happy days.

Not long before the season kicks off so there's a lot of work to be done and hopefully some of the loan players will sign up.

I thought we absolutely deserved it on the pitch. Pretty much every player was outstanding for me!

You surely can't deny that they had two fair goals disallowed. We'd be absolutely livid to be on the other side of it. Mind you, their keeper did play a blinder to save from Oates first half. On balance felt they probably should have won the game 2-1. Not that I give a hoot now or when we start out in league 2 :)

If I'm honest I would have to say that it was one of the least enjoyable games I've ever watched.

From minute 70 we were really up against it as they slung balls into the box for the beanpole/lighthouse/shithouse forwards. Then the beautiful story of "keeper scores in minute 95... friend of Alison ... bollox" and it was Pools all over again... Millennium .... 9 minutes from glory etc etc.

No f***er cares apart from Poolies.

Then under the cosh again for the first 10 minutes of extra time ... then Elliot saved us.. messiah.. accidentally stamping on the calf of the Torkey player and stopping the game for 10/15 minutes.

After that we had more composure and created chances in equal measure.

Then the penalties.

Does anyone "enjoy" them? Well apart from after the fact. Obviously, Brad James will drink for free for the rest of his earthly existence on the strength of one strong left hand. I'm exhausted and drained... but happy. Pools have won something for the first time in my lifetime and probably the last, if the previous 63 years are anything to go by.

But, hey, who knows? . ............... ad astra per aspera - roll on 2021-22

First disallowed goal really obvious push on Oates. Second goal genuinely can't understand why it was disallowed, but even if it was I don't
think it would have meant they'd go on to win. We deserve some luck anyway!

He deserved to finish up on the losing side for squaring up on the edge of the 6 yard box for a few choice words with every Pools penalty taker. No idea why the ref let him get away with it, but the lads who put their penners away taught him to keep his gob shut!

Talked with some Torquay fans on the walk up to Bristol Temple Meads. What a decent bunch they are. Gutted but philosophical, no rancour towards Pools at all (but plenty for the ref). Hope them and Notts County go up next season.

What a first half Luke Armstrong had! What a game Gary Liddle had! That's twice he's helped Pools to go up. Hope he sticks around and makes it a hat trick of promotions next season.

Torquay equalising in the last minute of normal time was hard to take, but I was a bit shocked by how it completely silenced half our travelling support. They didn't start to believe again till well into injury time. Bloke a couple of rows in front of me (in the Dolman Stand) spent 20 minutes auditioning for the role of 'inconsolable defeated fan' for the cameras to pick up. Well done to everyone who kept singing and clapping, cos it's never over till the fat lady sings - even for 'Artlepool.

I thought their keeper deserved to lose for the ridiculous dance he put on midway in our half after scoring.

How many thought 'here we go again' after their equaliser? It's the Pools way to lose out at the last hurdle.

think thats covered it really. pre challinor we had players who most fans could not wait to see the back of. so many did not have this work ethic and could not battle out of a kids playground. games we regularly dropped points against in the last 10 minutes. names of some of these lads will go down in pools history and be remembered long after we have the big sleep ourselves.

well i certainly did. everything was in their favour and thought there was no way back. shows the guts of this side and the know how of our management side to keep the lads going. think its the years of abject failure with players not fit to wear any shirt never mind a pools one that made us feel this way.

It was very much a match of swings and roundabouts.

- (Rightly) disallowed Torquay goal for a push
- We score
- Torquay have a wrongly disallowed goal
- Torquay player kicks one of our players (Armstrong?) in the balls when down and escapes any punishment
- Torquay handball in the penalty area missed by the referee, which in fairness is difficult to make a judgement in a split second.
- Torquay keeper scores
- And the penalties.

I feel for the referee and the flack he's got from Torquay. At the end of the day, he's made one incorrect decision that's gone against them (i'm not having that the first disallowed goal was incorrect at all as it was a blatant push and stupid of the Torquay player as he did not need to do it). He made two incorrect decisions against Hartlepool (the handball pen not given and the testicle kick). As I said, swings and roundabouts.

A draw would have been about fair, but somebody had to win and I am glad it was us!

We all did, most of all the players on the pitch who had given everything, thought they'd done it and suddenly had it all to do again. More than ever, that's when they needed the fans as 12th man to live up to their own motto. Never Say Die.

takes that bit of luck sometimes and i genuinely believed it was our turn when their first goal got disallowed. god knows why their second was but fuck me what a day !

Elliot basically turned the game on its head for us with that challenge - saved us tbh as it looked like Torkey where about to turn the screw an really go for that winner.

feaths was like a prime Xavi - Armstrong played his best game in a pools shirt and Oates ran himself into the ground quite literally. cant complain with that. Take that same ethos and work ethic into L2 and i can see us sitting comfortably next season with no worries at all.

sad thing is a few of that side will not be around with us next season. however if their replacements have the same ability and work we,ll be fine.

Keeping Dave Challinor is what matters. He's on a hiding to nothing having to sort out a squad when he should be enjoying a good break and the other clubs in League Two are 6 weeks ahead of him. Pools' squad might not be the finished article when the season starts, but he'll keep improving us incrementally with smart signings and loan deals as he did this season.
