It just isn’t what it used to be.

You're right it's not, not even close. Didn't even know it was the final until I saw the listing for it on TV.

Having every semi final, playoff and minor cup game at wembley has murdered its lustre. It's a shame but to be brutally honest from what I can gather the DFB Pokal and Copa Del Rey are pretty much seen in the same light as the FA cup now.

That said the early round games are really fun to watch.

Yep. The days of it being an all day affair with empty streets everywhere seem long gone.

Have to say congratulations to Leicester. Probably the least dislikable Premier League side after Everton.

Aye, slightly changed my mind after Leicester winning. Nice to see a proper club win. What a save by the way!

I didn't know they were playing. I honestly didn't til I looked on the news earlier. As what was said earlier, the FA Cup Final was an event from morning til well it finished. Seeing the teams in their hotel having breakfast, then the bus to Wembley, the suits etc. The day was an experience no matter who was in it.

Unfortunately those days are long gone and will never be seen again.

Unfortunately Mr Hartleblue, I have to agree with you. The fact I didn't know they were playing really says how the FA Cup has disintegrated in Prestige, from THE Cup to win, to well.... a distraction from the PL, but a chance to give the squad players and the young uns a run out.

Over saturation sadly. Games in the PL on TV almost daily. Years back (even before my lifetime) the FA Cup was all you got for domestic TV football.

But the overuse of wembley hasn't helped at all. Its surreal to think up until the past few decades you only ever played at wembley if you were 1. Playing for England. 2. Playing in the FA Cup final. Or 3. Playing in the amateur cup final. (Probably missed another competition but those were the main three for years).

These days you have 4 different league playoffs,
some semi finals, the Sunday FA Cup, the league cup, FA Trophy, EFL Trophy and the crazy thing is I'm probably still forgetting another competition.

actually watched it yesterday only because leicester were there. still a proper team with proper fans. the result made itdecent game really without 500 side ways passes in teams own half. however you are correct about wembley being a big showpiece venue now. when pools were in the league they were one of the few clubs that have never played there. when you get teams like stockport who have been there 5 times in 30 years you know something is not right. when i was a kid my old man took me to a number of ameteur cup and rugby league finals. now i,d never enter the place until pools are there.
