Give Me Sport comparing Rhys Oates' goal yesterday with a Messi special and saying it should be a contender for the 2021 FIFA Puskas award.

Picture quality is a bit ropey, but the sight of Rhys turning 5 defenders inside out before scoring will always be worth another look:

Not bad for a player who was absolutely rubbished by one or two on here when Dave Challinor signed him at the beginning of the season ;)

real pity as it ended up a consolation goal and not a winner. would have been talked about for years. his goal was overshadowed by a shit defence and odusina.

Plus the manager changing the system that has got us to where we are.

If it was my shout I would have told Odusina that he would never play for the club again. He has made far too many silly mistakes and is caught in possession to often or wayward passes.

What’s that got to do with the wonder goal scored by my favourite player? Forget Odusina, Oates requires some kind of persistence and improvement award. I’ve just adopted The big O O Odusina as my second favourite player by the way just to equal out your lack of confidence in him.

Bunker threads go off at a tangent more often than not. No point complaining, it's just what happens.

Going with the flow of this one, they say centre backs don't play their best football till their late 2os/early 30s. Hope that's true for Timi too, but he's not improved at all this season and a change of scenery come June is probably best for all concerned.

doubt anyone could argue that oates is not the most improved player at the club now. from being annonymous and fans wishing for another signing to a poolie hero.

i'm unsure how all of the focus has been on odusina when johnson was just as poor and seems to have escaped it.

it was johnson who missed the header for the first one, i'd argue johnson is in a worse position for the 3rd (seen as odusina is going up for challenge which means johnson should be therefore sweeping behind). The 4th we somehow have a man more yet he has time on edge of box as I don't think williams does enough to close it down.

Odusina clearly was impacted the most by mistakes, but it's almost like we have waited for it as even the commentary team blamed odusina for the first when it was clearly johnson

Oates is a decent player and always gives maximum effort. He’s in good form. You couldn’t blame one player in Odusina for that performance. The manager said he could have taken 7 off and it wouldn’t have made a difference. The subs didn’t set the world on fire either. We lose as a team. I think Odusina has done okay. He looks more confident on the ball. Winning the first ball is just not our strong point at the back and it’s made worse when Liddle isn’t in the side. We’ve suffered from that in a few games. But we are a top 4 side after all said and done. We’ve had a very good season. The unbeaten run we went on couldn’t last forever and we’ve been brought back down to earth with a bump. But we can still do it if we stick together and want it enough.

odusina without liddle is a different player. all his poor games have been when lids is absent. if only he could do an oates and sort himself out he could be a good player. he has a lot going for him but its either concentration or lack of confidence thats holding him back. however you can always say thats the reason he is playing in non league football now and not still in the football league.
