Pools 2 - 0

Maidenhead have games Sat and Tues right through May, 3 games behind us currently. They may reckon this one is a lost cause quickly and preserve themselves for more winnable matches. I hope

Got to hope Johnson stays fit and plays along side Liddle. Is Odusina Louis Laing in disguise? too prone to errors which seem to result in giving goals away.

I think a draw is the most likely result. Pools have leaked goals in every game they've played with a back 4 this season.

Any chance the two clowns commentating on the stream can avoid sounding like Pools are walking a game they've never led? Here's your word for the day "buddy" - hubris.

Got to say that's terrific long range shooting from Barrett - but we're missing Killip as well as Liddle.

One player ( Liddle ) shouldn't make this much difference, looks like they are making up for all the missed chances at their place.

Looking at the other scores, Pools still need a win to make the play offs.

Why are we trying to walk the ball up the pitch, it's not benefitting our front line, it's pedestrian

Just like the Torquay game, they looked like they would score every time they knocked it forward. Can't understand why we were trying to play 443. We have a great first starting eleven but there's not a lot of quality thereafter.

thats the problem. largish squad but so many not up to it. 2 goals scored. hit the post twice, bar once with a couple of last ditch tackles and blocks v 4 gifts. if liddle is ever out again just leave odusina at home please.

Wow.... we are missing Bennet. Gave us a different element. Liddle’s absence felt.

A great shame that.

Odasina should have been substituted at half time with Cass coming on.
Williams should have been brought on at half time. Take your pick from Holohan and Shelton as to who he replaced. DC waited until they had been gifted another two goals to match the two our hopeless defending gifted them before half time before taking action.
Insisting that Odasina and Johnson play it out from the back frightens the life out of me.
If we don't sort our team selection and tactics out and like quick, then it is very likely we won't get another point. Aldershot won't be easy, Sutton certainly won't be easy and the pressure that could be put on the Weymouth game won't be easy to handle either.
We signed Cooper, James and White on loan as cover. Where are they????
Where is Bloomfield, Ofusu and McDonald???/ Have I missed anyone out???
DC has been saying recently that we are in a good place. I'm not so sure.

Limping over the line, while every other team up there benefits, doesn't instill much confidence.

Disappointing couple of results.
But on the back of 16 unbeaten run we still in a decent position.
Hopefully our best 11 are available for the play-offs
With fan power available for the Q/F match .
We don't do winning leagues so not a bad scenario compared to the last 14 seasons of bottom half finished albeit from a non League perspective.
UTP n keep the faith.

You missed Francis-Angol, a defender who has been on the bench for the last 2 games and not got on the pitch in either of them.
The issue with team selection lies with the defence. Johnson is just coming back from injury and was asked to play the full 90 minutes today. Cass is carrying an injury too.

It's obvious Challinor doesn't really rate Francis-Angol or Cooper or he wouldn't have risked abandoning 3 centre backs for a flat back four. It didn't work last week - Liddle got sent off after being pulled out of position once too often - and was a disaster this week. Odusina isn't good enough to play without a third centre back as cover.

We've blown a top 3 finish now, but it's pointless dragging up the names of players who have had next to sod all to do with the 70 points Pools have accumulated so far this season. I'm hoping Johnson and Cass stay fit enough to line up in a back 3 with Liddle next week and Pools can get back to looking and playing like they were doing a couple of weeks ago. Be good to have Armstrong back too.

There is talk of some players getting furloughed for the foreseeable. The most common name I've heard is Claudio Ofosu. Also heard Cooper is no longer at Pools.

That was dreadful at times embarrassing, what has happened to molyneux? How he stayed on for 90 minutes is anyone’s guess and odisina might not get another game under Challinor after that.We can go on about a great run etc, but we are blowing it when it matters, from looking like play off potential winners, we look like one of the worst teams in the play offs. Bennett is a huge miss, Cass not starting with liddle cost us the game. As much as I love Challinor and the brilliant job he has done a lot of the blame must go on him, for these last two performances, after ten minutes today you could see what was going to happen. Can’t see us winning one play off game, let alone 3 if we don’t sort the defence out. Priority next year must be to get a quality centre back and keeper in.

k yesterdaysurprised me how calm challinor was after the game. it certainly was a good thing fans were not back inside the vic to tell the players some home truths. it wasn,t too bad losing at bromley but yesterday was far worse than the torquay home game. they actually sent out a message before their first goal and you could see it coming. not bothered if we do not see odusina again this season. the two bennett replacements also are no where near the standard as he was. like a lot of other pools loanees up front in the past. very ordinary. need a big positive reaction at aldershot next saturday to put yesterday to bed.

Agree with that. Molyneux getting the full 90 minutes yesterday felt very much like the last chance saloon, and he didn't take the opportunity. He seems to lack self-belief.

I've noticed this season that when he first gets on the pitch it doesn't take long before he'll cut inside and get a dangerous shot away, like he did when he was on his loan spell for Pools. Back then he had the confidence to keep doing it, whereas now he just seems to fade out of the game. He's too easily discouraged and doesn't keep trying to beat his man.

We played a system that got us top of the league then we change and it goes tits up why did dc do this to his team.
Yes we have players unavailable how ever the amount of players signed should have been to strengthen the system not change it.

The way I see it is that we have brought in loads of players on loan, but on the cheap.
By that I mean they are not quality. They are players that their parent clubs will not miss.. Some are from higher league clubs but can't even get into our team.
Pools will only be paying part (if any) of their wages.
If we were going to go for it we should have brought in fewer but better quality.
Just my opinion.

It wasn't so much the defence as one player in particular who probably delivered the worst performance I've seen in a Pools shirt for years. My beef was the fact that we persevered with this slow throw out from the back which allowed a ten man team to get everyone behind the ball and gave us few options when we got to the edge of their box.

Not once did Ravas kick long up the pitch, probably under instruction of course, but it helped them run down the clock and didn't utilise the extra man. If you watch the highlights Maidenhead didn't even need to use build up play to create their goals they just booted it up front with pace and because our defence has been conditioned to pull wide looking for a ball out from the keeper there was a huge hole in the middle of the defence. Mind that lad Barratt took his goals fantastically well and has some shot on him.

and not their top scorer either. could you imagine any pools player on our books who would have scored those goals. on target they,d have trickled to the keeper if it hard they,d have cleared the stand. next season we need a player who can really crack the ball on target unlike the ones who at present shoot with the venom of an under 14 kid.
