Bit of a bombshell with Dave Challinor's pre-match interview on the OS.

Killip might be out for the rest of the season with a ruptured elbow ligament. Even if there's better news after a scan next week he'll miss a bunch of games. Ravas starts tomorrow.

Brad Young has been with a Premier League club this week after an England training camp and the decision has been made that he's available for transfer if the money is right! Suppose that was always on the cards but it's a bit gutting that he's never turned out for Pools in a competitive game.

Same as Luca Murphy...

Which, makes me question if these players are actually as good as the media make them out to be.

Anyone behind a keyboard can state a youth player will be the best player of his generation. If someone told you a few years ago Tyrone Mings would play for England, you'd of got laughed at, and lectured on how Reece Oxford was going to be the best CB of all time.

The big difference is Pools didn't get any money for Luca Murphy because he was too young to be under contract with the club.

Murphy is still at Fulham and turning out regularly for their U-23s at age 19. There aren't any guarantees at that level - Jamie Sterry knows plenty about that after being let go by Newcastle.

there has been far more players who were regarded as ones for the future in the game where their futures really were a few leagues below that club. some actually drifted out of the game. can imagine those involved in local football will now more than one who were in pools youth set up at one time or another.

at least ravas is far better than beebey was who replaced killip last season. best way forward would be to expect killip and johnson being out for the season and try to work round the fact either bringing in someone new or working with what we have already got. just think of em returning to action as a late season bonus if it did happen. on top of this bad news remember bennetts loan period will be half way over after todays game.

Is this like the time Rangers signed Jack Blackford? Or the time Wolves signed Brad Walker? How about when Luke James joined Celtic?

Confirmed in today's Mail that Ben Killip is out for the rest of the season. Challinor quoted as saying that he wants to bring in another goalkeeper as cover for Heinrich Ravas - so by the looks of things the rumours about Brad Young going to Leicester are more than paper talk.
