Wasn't even aware that the country had changed its name from previous Macedonia until recently, 1-0 up at H/T at Germany, shock on the cards?
And as I say that Poland equalise

Germany/West Germany have never failed to qualify for a World Cup, that's a fantastic record.

Do we refer to Mongolia as North Mongolia? How about we refer to the Republic of Ireland as Southern Ireland? Should the country of Luxembourg be known as South Luxembourg due to a Luxembourg existing in Belgium? Better ask the Greek government. Even debt collectors leave them alone!

The Greeks are very..err..fond of Macedonia. Alexander thought it was great (see what I did there?). I once saw some graffiti on a dilapidated run down stone farm building in the middle of nowhere on Zakynthos, stating "Macedonia = Greek". If my memory is correct the Greeks weren't happy that North Macedonia was originally called the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.As in the graffiti Macedonia = Greek. The Greeks kicked off, probably bearing gifts on FYR, who got worried so changed their name. That's roughly/probably/definately what happened.

Macedonia of mixed veg with a dollop of mayo=Russian Salad..I question it's origin at every cold buffet .
