Apart from St Johnstone, no other senior UK football club contains the letter J. Not a lot of people know that!

And their home is in Perth.
When William Wallace was parading about, Perth was called St Johns town, that's where the football club's name came from.
Not many know that either.

Jarrow FC have reached the 1st Round of the FA Cup proper on 3 occasions over the years, losing to Everton, Millwall and Crewe respectively.

Might actually get the game on. First worry is i cannot remember if i paid for the stream or not and would hate to give them a penny more than i need to do. Got a bad feeling about this one as i always have with pools at the shay. Big 3-1 defeat which will be rectified on saturday.

In the case of Raith Rovers, who are in Kirkcaldy, near Rosyth, where I was born.
In ancient times the area where Kirkcaldy stands used to be a fortified area (Raith is gaelic for fort) and so when the football club was established the founders decided on the original name for the area when naming the club. That was told to me by my teacher at school when I lived in Rosyth. The reason I was born there was my Mam and Dad, both born in West Hartlepool, were living in Portsmouth as my Dad was in the Naval Dockyard there. Shortly after War broke out my Dad was transferred to the Naval Dockyard in Rosyth, where I was born. In 1952 we moved back to West Hartlepool where my indoctrination into becoming a Poolie started.
I don't know anything about the other clubs you mentioned Mr Accy but I'll try and find out because it is interesting to know. Barry Parkes, who played for Pools also played for Queen of the south, which is an added bit of trivia for you.

Queen of the South play in Dumfries,
Apparently a poet called David Dunbar, who became MP for the town nicknamed the town Queen of the South and when the football club was formed they adopted the nickname for the town as the official name of the football club.

East Fife was simply named after a meeting amongst interested parties who's sole purpose was to create a club for the east of Fife in Methil.

All good stuff.

Scone Palace was the place where Kings of Scotland were crowned and is just a few miles from St. Johnstone's ground in Perth. Spent a few lunchtimes parked outside ground eating my sarnies when I was on the road.

I suppose Queen of the South from Dumfries looks across the Solway Firth into England and that is why it's named the Queen of the Southern Scottish League Clubs.

It's pretty unique to have the 2 clubs from Dundee having grounds in the same road.

Was goalie John Lornie ever selected again for the Bon Accord squad after their 36-0 defeat against Arbroath?
