If ever a game was a banana skin this was it. Pools excellent home record against a team hammered by the mighty Kings Lynn away only a few days ago and at the wrong end of the league. Plus there is national TV coverage for them that can afford. The bookies odds on a Barnet win could be high enough for even me to put something on them to win. 2 nil to Barnet for me.

Was thinking the same thing. If Pools manage to score early they will probably win comfortably. If they don't and Barnet nick one - more than likely from a set piece - I'll probably head out for a walk rather than sit through on for the inevitable.

For anyone who didn't see the bit in the Mail and happens to be an ee customer, you can watch the game for nowt as long as you remember to cancel their introductory BT Sport offer before the first payment due. Loads of live Champions League, Europa League and Prem games on at the minute as well.

always find its much easier to sign in for things rather than signing out of a deal. if you are not too big on the techy stuff its best to swerve em. its only one of a handful of games you miss. never have seen a full seasons home and away games anyway. doubt many have.

Last time I went a full season without missing a game was our last promotion season (06/07) Did every league game, every cup game, some reserve games and some juniors. Was over sixty games. Taking in all the costs, tickets, travel. food and drink, some accomodation costs, programmes, matchday lottery tickets and three season tickets, I reckon I spent over nine grand that season following Pools, maybe more. Making a weekend of it took quite a lot of it but what the hell. We enjoyed it. I don't think We would do it again though, certainly not in this league. There's quite a few do the full whack every year. Fetish Bob for instance.

2 nil Oates and Armstrong.
BT have technical failure and match not broadcast.

Typical bloody BT - could have got an ex-NL player along from Darlo, Gateshead or York to provide an ex-pro's view on the game, but no - brought an ex-Barnet player along with them.

More needed second half from Oates and Holohan. On second thoughts, sub needed for Oates - he's gone right off the boil.

Agreed. Essential journey? Stay local?

Two misses from Oates. Maybe it will click for him eventually.
Could do with some goals to make up the GD column

I hope we don't regret all these missed chances.

The energy from Pools is very impressive. These lads are super fit.

That was made to be much harder work than it should have been, considering Scott Loach was Barnet's MoM by a street. Pools have been carrying Oates and Holohan for the last 4 games and can't afford to go on doing it. The same half dozen players can't keep knocking their pans out week after week while those two struggle to get into the game.

Oates at least got taken off - I'm amazed Holohan stayed on the pitch 90 minutes because he had a real stinker. Not on the ball nearly enough for a midfielder and wasteful when he was in possession.

Agreed on Holohan and Oates. Maybe both just need a break. Bloomfield alongside Armstrong would be a physical battle for any backline.

Williams body clearly not trusted yet - surprised to see he didn’t feature on the bench whatsoever.

Take the win - wish we’d bagged a couple more though.

We won whilst not firing on all cylinders. I’ve said it before but that’s the mark of a promotion aide.

Yep, a spell out of the side worked wonders for Mark Shelton and it's due for the other two now.

A game of total domination, always looked dangerous, especially down the right. I'll put my Tin Hat on as I thought Oates did alright, played a good supporting role could should have netted, but that's Football.. Could have been 5 or 6. Pools looked comfortable for the full 90 mins.

Nobody wants to discuss Armstrong's back-heel ...?

He slipped as was blinded by the illuminated sign behind the Corner. Is that Pizza Hut? Are they still open? I presume they must be delivering, or getting free advertising on BT? That's probably the thoughts that put him off.

TBF I can't think of a sensible reason.

As comfortable a 1-0 as you'll see. Would prefer to have converted more chances but all in all, can't complain too much.

Points on the board. I’m sure that Tim Flowers has gone into the dressing room talking about how well Barnet did compared to the Kings Lynn match earlier in the week. The next 3 away matches will really show how we stack up. If we don’t lose any of them, we’ve taken points off the competition.

didn,t see the game, but after reading that bloomfield may have been a better option to start the game and replace him with oates energy later on. anyway its for me a banana skin avoided, three more points and another game ticked off. its a big worry however that there could be a possibility of pools being top next saturday if all the results go in our favour this week. shows not how close pools are getting.
