NATIONAL LEAGUE CHARGES DOVER
19th February 2021
The National League has charged Dover twice with a breach of Rule 8.39.

Following the failure of the National League to provide agreed funding, the club has had to make the difficult decision to cease all football operations and furlough players and staff.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: “We are clearly very disappointed that the National League seem to be sticking to their guns and applying rules of the competition with no proper awareness or consideration for the exceptional circumstances we find ourselves in

”It is clear that the agenda is to finish the season at any cost.”

It is likely that Whites will see further charges being brought as they continue to be unable to fulfill games.

Parmenter said: “We do have a right to deny charges on a game-by-game basis, but with the cost of a personal hearing for each charge being £150, clearly this is an additional financial burden and limits our options.

”We will, however, make our submissions in writing, based on our firm belief that the failure of the National League to ensure the promised funding was made available has resulted in us taking the only possible action to avoid insolvency.”

Looks like the NL is going to push them over the cliff.

thing is there are loads of others quite willing and able to take their place. if nothing is done then it does not help in the future when talks between the NL and EFL regarding any extra promotions. if dover and any others that join em just get away with their actions there is a big chance of the drawbridge returning. its bad enough being relegated to the NL in normal circumstances but coming down to a league where clubs pack up mid season will cause an uproar in div.2.

Dover and King's Lynn are not fan-owned clubs so the idea of not accepting loans on principle doesn't apply. Like all privately owned businesses, their owners have the option of digging deeper into their own pockets or seeking extra finance to cover losses. The Dover chairman reckons he needs £300,000-£400,000 to play on to the end of the season and Boycie at King's Lynn claims he needs £300,000. This is allegedly to cover lost match day revenue - but Dover average 1,100 for home games and Kings Lynn just over 600 - and they've already banked any season ticket income!

It's obvious that the two plonkers gambled on success this season and overspent on the playing budget. Instead they're in a relegation battle. Now they've missed out on the answer to their prayers - getting the season voided. The truth is they were going to lose a shed load of money this season with or without Covid. If I was a Dover or KL fan I'd be more worried about my club folding than dropping down the leagues.

Dovers game off on Tuesday.
Is that 11 games to rearrange in next 3 months?
Wudent be surprised to see them removed from the national League with previous results null n void.
42 game season!

Still playing the same old tune. I guess now that you've got so many free weekends till May you'll be scratching away on here even more than usual? violin
Invite a few more over from Darlo Uncovered why don't you? We can always do with a laugh from our ex-rivals. 14 seasons since the last derby match! Seems like only...14 years ago. Going to be at least 16 now

I'm not bothered about any of that rivalry stuff, it doesn't bother me in slightest. I don't visit here to wind people up and I wouldn't wish any hard times on HUFC. Just watch out for the extra debt as it will have to be found at sometime by someone, and that someone probably won't be Singh.

I mean, have you not considered this?

you mean the same type of debt but far less than i imagine every other club have apart from a few in the premier league. once fans are back if singh does want out pools are a much better proposition anyway than they were when raj did take over.

Of course I have. This topic has been done to death on the Bunker ever since Raj Singh took over the club in July 2018. At that point HUFC was hopelessly in debt and on the point of going out of business. All the talk on here was of doing a Darlington, dropping down the leagues and becoming a fan-owned club. Much easier said than done, as you lot can vouch for.

Whatever his motives, Raj Singh was the only interested party - Jeff Stelling had been trying to whip up interest for weeks with zero success. Much as it sticks in a few craws to admit the bleeding obvious, Singh kept the club founded in 1908 in being, and after another 3 seasons in the National League the team is finally challenging for promotion back to the EFL.

One thing is certain - Raj Singh won't remain owner of HUFC forever. How his tenure ends remains to be seen. It's possible he'll pull out and leave the club in the lurch, as you keep predicting - in which case it's groundhog day and we're back to where we were in July 2018. Other outcomes are also possible. He might for example, find a buyer for a reasonably successful EFL club with a strong fan base, as opposed to people who want to take over a debt free club for nowt.

If the former happens, you, Loan Star and the village idiot in Sussex should feel free to pile on as say 'I told you so' to your heart's content. Till then, seriously, why don't you give it a rest?

And by the way, the very small minority of Pools fans who enjoy doing Singh down almost as much as you do while at the same time avidly following the team's fortunes this season are indulging in that well known pastime, having their cake and eating it.

Sums the situation up very nicely.
