I was impressed with his dignity and positivity during the past year. I was less impressed with all those jumping on his bandwagon. RIP Sir.

afraid i have to agree. i still think about the guy in his first intentions in doing his laps. just to raise the few hundred he actually wanted to raise locally. he must have had a really interesting life in his 100 years and hope the wider media celebrate his life more than mentioning his death. when my ma died at 100 those outside the family could not understand our attitude where we celebrated her life remembering the laughs and good times she gave us rather than being morbid about someone dying at 100.

In a deleted tweet on twitter Blackman Jarel Robinson-Brown dated 3rd Feb 2021 who currently works for the Church of England posted the following regarding the late Sir Captain Tom's Cause:

The Cult of Captain Tom is a cult of
WHITE British Nationalism.
I will offer prayers for the repose of his kind and generous soul' but will not be joining the 'National Clap'.
A truly disgraceful racist comment.

There is growing support for some sort of memorial to Sir Tom. I wonder what we'll end up with. Maybe something that involves his walking frame, or an area of Lords cricket ground named after him. I suppose the list is endless. Probably present a list of options to his family and let them choose.

Renaming the Bedford General Hospital the 'Captain Sir Tom Moore Hospital' would seem the most appropriate.

How about just making sure the tories don't sell off the NHS? I'm sure he would appreciate that , ironic given that he more than likely voted Conservative himself.

Good shout.

they,ll have to research his family tree back to the 16th century before they do anything. he could have a distant relative who was engaged in something some of the usual suspects do not like and capt. tom will be removed from our future history,
