This is the first time this season I actually go into a game expecting us to win, and if we have serious promotion ambitions, these are the games we should be winning. Quite often these types of games define a promotion season, not the marquee results, such as the home win v Stockport and away at Notts Co. I remember in the previous two promotion campaigns , gritty 1-0 at Torquay and Boston on heavy pitches against physical teams battling for their lives , as the games that finally said to me, promotion looks nailed on.

Of course things have changed since those days, pitches are better, less physical contact and currently no fans, but I expect a battle today and Magloire will be a big miss at the back. Also concerns about us not having played for so long, the players needed a rest after some gruelling fixture schedules since the start of the season, but sometimes think you have too much rest.

Weymouth appear to be in disarray , their fans are not happy, everything suggests 3 points, if only football was that simple.

1-1

Armstrong

Armstrong

I watched the stream last weekend when we beat them in the trophy and they are nothing flash. Would think this would be an easy win for you on current form.

Season cancelled and voided at 2:30.

If not, 2-0 pools win with an Armstrong double. Not hyped at all and won't even be following the game. No point putting time into something that can be cancelled at the drop of the hat.

4-1 to us. Oates, Armstrong, featherstone and Holohan the scorers possibly. Theirs an OG as they can’t score for toffee.

Odusina FFS - ignores another chance to boot a ball into the stand, lucky not to get sent off and Weymouth score from the free kick!

Makes a change to hear the Weymouth lads doing the commentary on Tees, interesting to hear their thoughts on Featherstone.

Somewhat disappointing. Stupid from molyneux. Williams didn’t do a lot when he came on. Side kicked a free kick to their keeper from 28 yards lol. One of those games. A few bit at their best. Couple of decent saves from their keeper. Poor marking for their goal. Agh.

After twenty minutes I said to our lass that they would score from a set piece and hang on. We did try to give them another goal with Featherstone farting about at the end.
Weymouth did defend well and put their bodies on the line but we had no clue as to how to break them down, with our non existent midfield.
Ah well never mind.
At least Darlo sorted them out. :angry-screaming: :angry-screaming: :angry-screaming:

Featherstone was abysmal all game and gifted them their best chance at the end and then was unable to run back and tackle. The whole midfield was non existant and the keeper was stuck to his line as the cross came in for the winner. Sterry, Cass and Johnson the only ones who came out with any credit although the strikers had no service whatsoever.

Disappointing, in these sort of games, if you can't win, then you have to make sure you don't lose, a 0-0 or even better a 1-1. Fair play to Weymouth, they dug deep and rode their luck , we probably played no better or worse than in some of the games we have won recently, but it just wasn't to be, we probably deserved a draw today, just as Notts Co will feel they deserved a draw against us. As for the sending off, although it seemed harsh, again it was always going to happen, that we eventually got a player sent off rather than the opposition. A lot to learn from today's defeat, in the long term it might not be a bad thing.

One thing that we do lack is players good in the air, at the moment we only seem to have Johnson. The goals on the deck from Armstrong and Oates recently has papered over this problem, but when they are snuffed our lack of aerial prowess stands out like a sore thumb.

for me it was on the cards yesterday. a game we should have got at least a point from and most fans deep down expecting a win. always think a lay off is worse than too many games when the side is doing quite well. pity we have not got better opposition on tuesday to get back into form again.

We should've asked for the game to be played on Wednesday, you hear of other clubs doing this. After a 6 hours coach trip from Weymouth last night, I reckon the players should've just about loosened up for Tuesdays game.

Would take a point now.

We are just a poor team in a very poor league and results like this will always happen to us until we find some quality in midfield. Anyway yesterday’s result might not matter if they cancel the season.

I was just thinking same yesterday, we are not really a good team, just there are possibly around 18 worse than us in an appallingly shite league. The midfield is the problem, Holohan apart from his goals early on, has had a shocking season, and we have no one who can head a ball, not just midfield , but across the whole team, Johnson excepted.
