I read the book years and years ago and was fascinated by the whole mission but could sense a bit of animosity towards Chris Ryan from Andy McNabb

I read Chris Ryan book after that and he pulled no punches a about his feelings towards McNabb but also was a bit disrespectful towards Vince Phillips

There was another book written by a member of the team called Billy and he seemed to give a fairly Honest account of the mission

I know there is a few ex forces on the board and there must been talk of the mission and who was full of shit out of them all

The books by ‘McNab’ and ‘Ryan’ were proven to be nonsense. Probably sexed up by the publishers. What is unforgivable is that ‘Ryan’ slagged off Vince Philips publicly when the guy was dead an unable to defend himself. Vince’s mate Monster put him straight on that though and ‘Ryan’ spent a day or two in hospital recovering.

The public’s appetite for these books ensure that anyone who has passed through Stirling Lines feels the need to publish a book telling how they can leap tall buildings and kill hundreds armed with nothing other than a cocktail stick. The Billy you mention I think was the RSM rather than a patrol member of bollocks two zero.

There’s a book called ‘picking up the brass’. That is more akin to the typical soldier’s experiences of life in uniform. Have a read of the reviews.

Ah, I thought you meant Billy Ratcliffe, the Regimental Sergeant Major at the time.
