Anything could happen here, my guess is if anyone did lose today , they would win the return next week. Two classic mid table teams here with different way of arriving at the same point, we probably play the better football, with them probably that bit more aggressive. If all things went well as they possibly could do, both are capable of catapulting themselves into a play off position. Of course things rarely go as well as they could do at these two perennial strugglers, hence my mid table prediction.

We are capable of winning all 3 but similarly are capable of losing all three. Has the look of a draw, but I think we could edge it today, before coming a cropper at Notts Co on Monday.

2-1

Ferguson , Grey

Same.

The club didn’t respond to my last two emails about the shop, and the stream won’t work. It’s lucky that they can do without fans, given how they treat us.

Inexcusable. There are part time sides who can stream better than us. Sure equipment matters, but those limitations can be overcome by effort. We seriously couldn't try finding a new streaming provider?

Hallelujah !! Great result !

Has Challinor finally found the magic formula , he has desperately been searching for?

Pros - 2 consecutive wins
-3 consecutive home wins
-Oates scoring again, why has it taken so long for someone to tell him to shoot on site? IMO all players should do this, but especially ones who repeatedly make the wrong decisions in the 6 yard box. Hopefully with the confidence gained from scoring goals, we might soon see Rhys poking one over the goalline rather than over the bar.
- This is the big one for me. An UNCHANGED team for the second game running. I appreciate DC has probably for the main part being searching for something that worked, but for me part of the reason it took so long to find it, was chopping and changing the team from week to week.
Johnson- Keeps on scoring, the next Billy Ayre perhaps.
- Steady performances again from Sterry and Armstrong , whose signings clearly have helped with the above.
- Bloomfield , for a player not given that much game time, is starting to build up an impressive goals to games ratio. So far IMO the best of our poor bunch of strikers signed in the summer, and IMO should be the one partnering Armstrong up front.

Cons- A back 3 , I just don't like it, and I'm sure it will be exposed soon enough.

So , we finally appear to be going in the right direction, but will it last? We need to keep this little run going and couldn't asked for a more difficult game than away at Notts Co. This will be a big test, and one we need to prove we can come through. A draw would be an excellent result, especially as other teams seem to be getting the odd breather here and there with postponments , as we rack the games up. I worry about tiredness going into tomorrows game, our 3rd in 6 days.

think quite a lot of teams play this 3 at the back lark nowadays. just wonder if its a new fashion that has entered the game yet again. i do not llike it either, but if a team wins something playing 3 at the back then plenty follow. always been the same in football since england won the world cup. think pools are definatly improving but i feel tiredess could kick in at notts with them having a virus break. just hope we may catch em being a bit stale and off the pace but ferguson could be a big miss as challinor said he is out for the game.

Football like everything else, follows trends and fashions, though these days, they seem to follow it stubbornly, as though its written into a clubs constitution, Thou shall rotate, Thou shall play it out from the back etc etc. Still , can't complain too much, as its working at the moment.

Very difficult game tomorrow against a really big side , mind you, said that last season and we played them off the park, first half anyway  . They have had a rest , we will be tired, so a disadvantage before even a ball is kicked. Think it will be tight, they seem to either win or lose a lot of their games 1-0. I would expect us to get beat here regardless, and won't lose too much sleep if we do , as long as we give a good account of ourselves. A draw would be a great result and would take the pressure off having to win at Halifax a few days later, where if we can get a draw at Notts Co, I think a draw at Halifax wouldn't be too shabby either. It will be interesting to see how we cope without Ferguson.

I think Notts County will be in a different class to us tomorrow. We start winning at home and now its our away form thats going downhill. Anything will be a bonus considering we never ever win there. Challinor has done fantastic once again to get this team winning and up to 3rd, possibly helped by teams losing players but still we are in the middle of a run of games where 5 out of the 6 teams we are playing are bang on form. To win 2 out of 2 is great,we must make sure we don't ruin in by losing the next two.

Here's a more realistic view on our league position based on PPG.
1 Torquay. 2.33
2 Sutton. 2.00
3 Notts Co. 1.77
4 Solihull. 1.72
5 Stockport. 1.66
6 Maidenhead. 1.64
7 Eastleigh. 1.63
8 P O O L S. 1.60
9 Bromley. 1.57
10 Wrexham. 1.54
11 Boreham Wood. 1.50
12 Altrincham. 1.46
13 Woking. 1.43
14 Wealdstone. 1.40

If it's something like that at the end of March me be well happy with that.

When you look at the teams there Kev we really should be up there. Shouldn't be any excuse really. Obviously we are in a false position at the minute but two decent away results would certainly change things.

I agree, it was always going to be a tough game, but I think we could pay the price for playing the Stockport game last Tuesday. Whilst the win over Stockport was welcome, I think 3 games in 6 days will finally take its toll today. If we did manage a draw, I would really start to believe we have turned the corner. I think it will be tight, but if things went against us ( remember in last 3 games the opposition have all went down to 10 men ) it could go horribly wrong today.

This league is bonkers, I mean, we have won is it 4 out of last 15 or so, and find ourselves in 3rd place. Only Torquay in proper promotion form, in a league where everyone really can beat each other. I would expect though as things progress, for a couple of other teams to pull away, this is where I often mention the ability to win 5 on the trot or go 10 or 12 unbeaten comes into play, and I just can't see us going on runs like that. So far hardly anyone else has either, but I think a couple eventually will, and they will be the teams that get promotion or win the play offs. The return of Liddle and him being able to stay fit, could be the difference between 7th and 10th place for us.

going on a steady say 8 game unbeaten run even if we draw half of them will put us in a great position for the back end of this season. going unbeaten must give the side some confidence than winning one and losing one would do. at the moment i,m not sure if liddle would get back into the side and if the defence carry on looking a bit better i,m not that bothered if he becomes a bench warmer.

Think he would walk into the side, Odusina is a weak line IMO. Strangely enough Odusina only seems to play well when Liddle is alongside him, some young players need that father figure beside them

Second in the table. Just imagine how many Poolies would be at the Halifax game on Jan 2nd if it wasn't for Covid.

Well what a week or so it's been, a team that looked like it was more likely to trouble the bottom than the top has finally woken up. Amazing what happens when you sign a proper striker, turned our season round instantly. We have carried a bit of luck recently but so what when do we ever get much. Big game at Halifax now, if we have intentions on putting any sort of pressure on Torquay its probobly a game we need to win, they like pools are bang on form. Amazing what a couple of good signings can do Rhys Oates playing well for us and some battle< thats long been missing.

Yep, all good at the moment. Looks like DC has finally found out what he thinks is his best team and formation. Whilst still far from perfect, its getting results , and that's all that matters. All we need to do now is stay on course, and avoid the usual mid season misery of injuries , suspensions , loss of form and lack of money to bring in new players.
